Beloved of All
We join you in praying for your former landlord according to the truth of Luke 9:24. Jesus taught that whoever tries to hold on to his life will lose it, but whoever surrenders his life for His sake will save it. That is the heart of salvation. It is not holding on more tightly to ourselves, but letting go and entrusting our whole life to Him.
We pray that he will hear the voice of the Lord and respond while there is time. Scripture says this is the acceptable time, the day of salvation, and that whoever calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved. That promise is open to anyone who will come, and it reaches even the lowest sinner. There is no other way to be saved except through Jesus, who bore the curse for sin and opened the door to eternal life.
Learning to hear God is like a child learning to know a mother's voice after hearing it again and again. Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. As he hears the Word, he can come to know God and to trust Him. The voice of the Lord is powerful and full of majesty. It is upon the waters, it breaks the cedars, it divides the flames of fire and shakes the wilderness. Yet that same powerful voice speaks personally to lead us into His plan. We pray that the noise and distractions around him would be quieted so he can recognize that voice and follow it.
God's plan for each life is wiser and better than our own. The real purpose of prayer is not to bend God to our will, but to submit ourselves to His will and come into harmony with His purposes. We pray that your former landlord would turn from trying to save his own life and instead lose his life for Jesus, so that he may truly save it and enter into God's holy plan for him.
We also pray that he would know the completeness of God's forgiveness. When God forgives, He blots out the past completely. What is forgiven is remembered no more. Though we may fail, His love does not fail, and He is able to preserve and restore.
Father, in the name of Jesus we lift this man to You. You reign over all darkness and Your light drives it away. We ask for Your mercy and grace upon him. Cause him to hear Your voice, to hear Your Word, and to call upon the name of Jesus and be saved. Guide him on the journey You have for him, and let him see Your greatness and power. Lead him to surrender his life to Christ, so that in losing his life for Your sake he may find true and everlasting life. We thank You for Your love and faithfulness. Amen.
