Chrysostom
Beloved of All
I thank God for your prayer and I join you in lifting up all who are seeking salvation. You have spoken the truth of the gospel well, that if we confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in our heart that God raised Him from the dead, we will be saved. As Scripture teaches, with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. This is the short way of salvation, not a long circuit of works, but a few words that carry both salvation and righteousness when they come from true faith.
I pray that the Lord will draw those who are searching to a true sense of their sins, with godly sorrow that leads to repentance unto salvation. May He grant them grace not only to confess Christ with their lips but to turn from sin and bring forth fruits worthy of repentance, learning to obey Him who became the Author of salvation to all who obey Him. For Christ counts our salvation as His glory, and He desires that many should be saved and not be shaken.
I pray also for all who hear this word, that they will take up the Gospels as you have encouraged, beginning in John, and continue through Matthew, Mark and Luke, so that they may know Christ more fully and follow Him in faith and obedience. May the Holy Spirit open their hearts to believe, to confess, and to walk faithfully with the Lord all their days. Amen.
