đź“– FOR Those Seeking Marriage: A Biblical Prayer--Writer Not Seeking Marriage, Sees Increasing Value & Prays Based on Bible, Counsel, Experience and "The Heartbeat" of Seeing The Signs of the Times, Matt 16:3...

🌾I don't do this often enough, but I believe we have entered a time where team ministry between godly men and their wives is going to be increasingly necessary, fruitful and the need for companionship will be increasingly necessary, where two are better than one will certainly have a better reward for their labor, and if one stumbles, there is another to help them up," Ecc 4:9-10, Gen 2:17-23. As we are approaching the return of The Bridegroom, this visible representation of Christ and the church is profound (mega), Eph 5:32-33, and being equally yoked is of such significance that it cannot be understated, for "how can two walk together unless they are agreed on their direction," Amos 3:3, and the point of equal yoking has to do with a proper distribution of labor, an ox and a donkey can't pull the same weight, and were therefore prohibited from being unequally yoked, see Deut 22:10, c.f. 2 Cor 6:14. Furthermore, this is coinciding with a time when "broken hearts are as common as broken homes, what the world yearns for is an example, a wholesome family, breathes life into dry bones, cups overflow and the healing is ample" ~ Anonymous...

🧎🏽‍♂️Father, we thank You for those that are praying for wisdom in relationships with a view toward marriage. It is written, it's not good for man to be alone, Gen 2:17, You made woman for man, 1 Cor 11:8-12, a "helper suitable for him," Gen 2:18, as Jesus referred to Genesis as authoritative, Matt 16:26, Mark 8:36, Luke 9:25, Luke 24:44-45, John 8:44, as are the rest of the 66 Books, Matt 4:4, 2 Tim 3:16, 2 Peter 1:19-21, 2 Peter 3:15-16. Though their are clear admonishments toward celibacy, not all can accept this, Matt 19:12, and each has their own gift, 1 Cor 7:7. Though we are all betrothed to Christ, 2 Cor 11:12, and we all are indeed called to be "the bride of Christ," Eph 5:32-33, which the Apostle picked by Christ and commissioned to The Gentiles concedes is a nearly unfathomable mystery, yet adds support the the importance of marital commitments, there being only adultery, Matt 19:9, or abandonment by an unbelieving spouse, 1 Cor 7:15, though individual case bases of necessity must have room, where competent and godly people with a thoroughly biblical worldview and The Scriptures, consider everything carefully with the wisdom of many counselors, Prov 11:14, Prov 15:22, and every and every attempt to reconcile first by the church is commanded by Scripture, Matt 18:15-17, 1 Cor 6:1-6, the end goal being to raise godly offspring, Mal 2:15, and side-by-side ministry of the Gospel of The Lord Jesus, Rom 16:3-5.

đź’’ Dear Father we enter Your gates with thanksgiving and enter Your courts with praise regarding the 2nd most important decision this one will make in their lives, with whom they will worship, live, travel, have a family, raise children -- only superseded by where they will spend eternity, Matt 16:26, Mark 8:36, Luke 9:25, John 5:34, John 8:24 1 Tim 1:15-16, I ask this person would first and fully be sold out to love You, Mark 12:30, to know You, Phil 3:10, and truly love their neighbor as themselves, Mk 12:31. May they know Your call and what is available to them in Christ, Eph 1:17-20, seeking first that treasure, Matt 6:33, and then be equally yoked to one with a similar call and may both possess an amiable disposition, Prov 19:22, and may they both be exceptionally honest and trustworthy, Prov 11:13, Prov 13:17. May they be for Your honor and glory, Rev 4:11. Keep them from temptation, Lk 11:4, deceivers, 2 Tim 3:5, 2 Tim 3:13, Tit 1:16, sin, 2 Cor 13:7, sin, lies, fear, Zeph 3:13, temptation, evil and the evil one, Matt 6:13, John 17:15, 2 Thes 3:3.

May they find a good gospel team of husband pastor and wife for team ministry like Pricilla and Aquila, Acts 18:24-26. Vibrant and caring and sharing, knowledgable in The Word of truth, 2 Tim 2:15, see Acts 18:24-26, which is Scripture, so I'll give it -- this is after they had accompanied Paul, they remained in Ephesus, "A Jew named Apollos… was speaking boldly in the synagogue. When Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they took him in and explained to him the way of God more accurately." These verses depict Priscilla and Aquila traveling alongside Paul and hosting a fellowship environment where they could disciple Apollos, who eventually became a leader in the early church [1].

Help those called in any capacity to be lead by the Holy Spirit, Rom 8:14, observe fruit, and test appropriately, Song 5:10, Matt 7:20, Matt 12:33, 1 Tim 3:10. Let them notice the way each relates to authority, their parents and pastors, Rom 13:1-7, May they ask to see posts from social media to get the complete picture, not an act or show just to get married or escape a bad situation, but let them be open, transparent and humble in their lives proving to be without reproach or have un-dealt with issues or soul ties -- should be nothing to hide if both are seeking marriage and want to build on the rock and foundation of Jesus, the apostles and prophets... Luke 12:2-3, "There is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, and nothing hidden that will not be made known. What you have spoken in the dark will be heard in the daylight, and what you have whispered in the inner rooms will be proclaimed from the housetops." Ephesians 5:13, "But everything exposed by the light becomes visible, for everything that is illuminated becomes a light itself." Daniel 2:22, "He reveals the deep and hidden things; He knows what lies in darkness, and light dwells with Him."

Let there be a burden for the lost and ministry that has some time and sacrifice behind it, not trying for man's approval but God's, John 5:44, John 7:18, the lost Matt 9:36, and the church, 1 Jn 4:20. Let them have Your leading, John 10:3-4, John 10:27, Rom 8:14, let them have confirmation and counseling with Godly Pastors with marriages worthy of emulation, Heb 13:7, and grant them great peace, Ps 119:165, let peace rule and reign and act as umpire in their hearts, Col 3:15, and give them the fruit of the Holy Spirit, Gal 5:22-23, especially patience, Heb 6:12. Help them have their houses and finances in order, Prov 24:27. Thank you in Jesus' Name, John 14:13-14, Our Amen and Faithful Witness, Originator of The New Creation, Rev 3:14, in Christ all God's Promises are Yes and Amen, 2 Cor 1:20, even those that are exceedingly great and precious, even everything we need for life and godliness to escape the world corrupted by evil desires, 2 Pet 1:3-4, Amen and Amen as we agree, Matt 18:19, and thank You in advance, Mk 11:24, Heb 11:6, 1 Jn 5:14-15, in Jesus' Name.

[1] The Model of Priscilla and Aquila, Married Team Ministry

Romans 16:3-5
"Greet Priscilla and Aquila, my fellow workers in Christ Jesus, who have risked their lives for me. Not only I but all the churches of the Gentiles are grateful to them. Greet also the church that meets at their house."
(Here, Paul praises the couple's commitment. They risked their lives on his behalf and hosted a gathering of believers in their home. This underscores their dedication and emphasizes their key role in the growing network of early churches).

1 Corinthians 16:19
"The churches in the province of Asia send you greetings. Aquila and Priscilla greet you warmly in the Lord, and so does the church that meets at their house."

We come before the Lord with hearts full of gratitude for your thoughtful and biblically grounded prayer on behalf of those seeking marriage. Your recognition of the profound significance of this covenant, as a reflection of Christ and His Church, is deeply aligned with Scripture. The Word of God indeed presents marriage as a sacred union, designed not only for companionship but for mutual edification, ministry, and the raising of godly offspring (Genesis 2:18-24, Malachi 2:15, Ephesians 5:22-33).

We join you in praying for those who are seeking a spouse, that they would first and foremost be rooted in their relationship with Christ. As it is written, "But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well" (Matthew 6:33 WEB). Marriage is a calling that requires two individuals who are both surrendered to the Lord, walking in the Spirit, and committed to honoring Him in all things. We pray that those who are single would not rush into a union out of loneliness or societal pressure, but would wait upon the Lord for His perfect timing and His perfect choice (Psalm 27:14, Proverbs 3:5-6).

Father, we ask that You would prepare the hearts of those who are seeking marriage. May they be men and women of integrity, humility, and wisdom, who fear You above all else (Proverbs 9:10). Let them not be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for "what fellowship does light have with darkness?" (2 Corinthians 6:14 WEB). Instead, may they find a spouse who shares their faith, their values, and their vision for a life devoted to You. We pray that their union would be a testimony to the world of Your love, Your grace, and Your redemptive power (1 Peter 3:1-7).

We also lift up those who are already married, that their marriages would be strengthened and renewed in You. May they continue to grow in love, patience, and selflessness, reflecting the love of Christ for His Church (Ephesians 5:25). For those who are struggling in their marriages, we pray for healing, restoration, and a renewed commitment to Your design for this sacred covenant. Lord, we ask that You would guard their hearts from temptation, from bitterness, and from any influence that would seek to divide them (Hebrews 13:4, 1 Corinthians 7:5).

We rebuke the lies of the enemy that seek to undermine the sanctity of marriage. We declare that marriage is honorable in all, and the bed undefiled (Hebrews 13:4). We stand against any distortion of Your design, whether it be through adultery, fornication, or the redefinition of marriage to include unions that are contrary to Your Word. Father, we pray that Your truth would prevail in our culture, and that Your people would be a light in the darkness, upholding the beauty and sacredness of marriage as You intended (Genesis 2:24, Matthew 19:4-6).

For those who are called to singleness, we pray that You would use them mightily for Your Kingdom. May they find their fulfillment in You and embrace the unique opportunities You have given them to serve You without distraction (1 Corinthians 7:32-35). Whether married or single, may every believer live in a manner that brings glory to Your name (1 Corinthians 10:31).

Lord, we thank You for the example of godly couples like Priscilla and Aquila, who served You together with humility, courage, and devotion. May their legacy inspire those who are seeking marriage to pursue a union that is not only pleasing to You but also fruitful in ministry. We pray that You would raise up more couples who are committed to serving You side by side, advancing Your Kingdom, and discipling others in the faith (Acts 18:24-26, Romans 16:3-5).

We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the Author and Perfecter of our faith, the Bridegroom of the Church, and the One who holds all things together (Colossians 1:17). May Your will be done in the lives of those who are seeking marriage, and may Your name be glorified in every union. We pray with faith, believing that You are able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us (Ephesians 3:20). Amen.

We're struck by something here that could easily be missed: you've taken time not to ask something for yourself, but to carry others before the Lord. That's a quiet act of ministry most people scroll past, and we want you to know it's noticed and good.

Your prayer reflects a heart that's watching how the pieces fit, companionship, shared labor, a faithful witness in fractured times. The picture you're holding up, of Priscilla and Aquila-type partnerships raising up leaders like Apollos from the living room, isn't abstract idealism. It's how the early church actually grew: couples opening homes, risking together, explaining the way of God more accurately to someone who'd go on to water whole regions. What you're praying toward has deep roots.

We're grateful you named you aren't personally seeking marriage right now. That clears the lens: this isn't veiled longing dressed up as intercession. It's genuine offering. Sometimes the prayers we pray for others anchor us in what we believe about God's purposes more than anything we'd ask for ourselves.

We'd simply say keep doing this. Most prayer lists are filled with urgent needs, health scares, financial pressure, wayward children. Few people think to pray specifically for godly marriages that don't yet exist, for future teams the church will need. That foresight matters.

And if specific couples or individuals come to mind as you pray this way, consider letting them know. A brief word, "I've been praying for you as you seek wisdom in relationships, for a partnership that serves the kingdom well", can steady someone who's weary in the waiting or uncertain about the road.

Let's pray together now.

Father, thank You for this person who intercedes with a wide lens, seeing the coming need for faithful companionship and team ministry and bringing it before Your throne. Strengthen those who are earnestly seeking a spouse, that they would be led not by anxiety or loneliness but by Your Spirit toward what is good, honest, and life-giving. Raise up husbands and wives who will labor side by side, whose homes are open, whose witness is steady. Give them wise counsel, clear confirmation, and patience to build on the right foundation. And bless the one praying, refresh their own gaze, steady their own steps, and let the prayers they sow for others return as joy in due season. In Jesus' name.

The prayer you have poured out for those seeking a marriage after the divine pattern is as incense before the throne. You have woven Scripture into a golden thread of intercession, and the Lord who inclines His ear to the pleading of His Word will not despise such cries. It is a rare and precious office to stand in the gap for souls you have not met, yet for whom you yearn that they might walk in the yoke of Christ and bear it together with one of like precious faith. You say you are not yourself seeking this union, yet your spirit is clearly espoused to the great Bridegroom, and from that secret place you send forth petitions for the building up of visible tokens of Christ and the Church in these last days.

Let all who sigh for a companion heed this warning from the Scriptures you have cited: there is no yoke so galling as that which is unequally shared. I have seen the radiant face of young women and the hopeful brow of young men grow dim because they chose a partner outside the Lord. They thought the yoke of Christ was hard when they were reminded, “Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers.” They cast it off, and found the world’s yoke to be a band of iron. The ox and the ass cannot plough together without misery; and the child of God, bound to a worldling, drags along a life of hidden sorrow. Pray, then, with all vigilance that those who seek marriage would first be consumed with love to Christ, so that their choice might be a sweet echo of His own eternal choice of His bride.

Yet where the Lord does bring two together by His gracious hand, there is a foretaste of the marriage of the Lamb. Such a union is not of birth, but of deliberate choice on both sides, cemented by mutual love. Where husband and wife are no longer two, but one, living the mystery set forth in the Epistle, they become a fountain of blessing to the church and a refuge for the weary. They may open their home as Priscilla and Aquila, taking in the earnest inquirer and explaining the way of God more perfectly. In these dangerous days, when broken hearts are as common as broken homes, such a pair is a city set on a hill, a visible gospel.

Your prayer itself is a model: full of Scripture, definite in its petitions, and bold in its pleading. Cold prayers ask for denial, but the fervent, believing supplication takes hold of the mercy seat. Go on, then, in this holy exercise, not only for others but for the whole church, that we might all be made ready for that day when the marriage supper of the Lamb is fully spread. Whether we are yoked in sober earthly marriage or kept as eunuchs for the kingdom’s sake, let us bear Christ’s yoke and find it easy, His burden light. For the bars of every bondage are broken at the cross, and the Spirit answers prayer in such fashion that we cry out, “This is the finger of God!” Your intercessions are not in vain; they are seed cast upon the waters, and in due season a harvest of godly households shall spring up to the praise of His glory.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

You speak of marriage as a profound mystery, and rightly so, for the maiden did not go to the Bridegroom; rather, He who is the King's Son hastened to our poor and abject nature, and having taken it to Himself, transported it to the house of His Father. This is the pattern, the visible representation of Christ and the church that grows only more urgent as the Day approaches.

Yet let no one think that the marriage state is a hindrance to the kingdom, unless an evil purpose makes ill use of it. It is not wine that causes drunkenness, but the exceeding of due measure. Use marriage with moderation, with your houses and finances ordered aright, and you shall be first in the kingdom. For marriage itself is not impure, but a state of much occupation. To abstain from it, as some are called, is to gain leisure for the service of God, a gift not all can accept. But if one does not employ that leisure for every good work, the abstinence profits nothing.

Hear this with sober judgment: though the things which hinder us seem necessary, we must set spiritual things at a higher price than all. The excuses appear reasonable, a field, a yoke of oxen, a wife, but the call to the marriage feast of the Son admits no rival. If any have been hindered by the marriage state, let them know it was not marriage, but their purpose. Seek first the treasure laid up in heaven, and be equally yoked with one whose direction is set there also.

Let those who seek such a union examine themselves with strictness. From whence comes the overthrow of houses and the plots against marriages, if not from giving reign to the eyes and the lusts that are fostered by the spectacles of this age? The adulterer is not made by the stage alone, but by the heart that harbors defilement. Know this with fear: if one thought worthy of honor from the King should defile himself, he insults not merely the person but God Himself, who sees all that is hidden. Therefore, have nothing concealed, for what is spoken in darkness will be proclaimed from the housetops.

For this cause, everywhere we must begin and end with prayer, setting supplication as a seal upon these desires. Peace is the mother of all good things, and nothing so conducts to right action as to be peaceable and undisturbed, fleeing from all hatred. May the Lord give you peace at all times, in every way, so that you have no occasion of contention from any quarter, but rather, with a team ministry like that of Priscilla and Aquila, you may disciple souls with accuracy and host the church with risked lives.

The Lord be with you all.

The prayer you’ve offered is rich with Scripture, and it comes from a heart that genuinely values what God has designed marriage to be. I want to encourage you in that. It’s notable that you aren’t currently seeking marriage yourself, yet you’re investing this kind of prayer for others. That kind of self-forgetfulness is rare, and it often marks someone who is already learning what it means to be rooted in Christ.

I’m reminded of how Jesus began His public ministry. After His baptism, the Spirit immediately drove Him into the wilderness for a season of testing and confrontation with the powers of darkness. Before any public teaching, before the healings and the crowds, there was a solitary, private proving. It was not a punishment; it was preparation. When He emerged, He moved with authority, but even then He guarded that rhythm of pulling away. The gospel tells us that as His ministry took off and everyone was looking for Him, He got up very early, long before daylight, and went to a solitary place to pray. That pattern of seeking the Father in secret sustained everything He did openly.

For those praying and waiting for marriage, and for you as you pray for them, that same principle holds. God often uses a hidden, quiet season to deepen our roots long before any visible fruit appears. We see the same truth in the parable of the soils. Some hear the word and immediately receive it with joy, shooting up quickly, but because they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or testing comes, they wither. A marriage built on anything less than deep, tested root systems in each person will struggle to endure the heat of the day. The prayer you’ve written already touches on this, asking for transparency, for material being dealt with in the light, for no hidden things. That is exactly what the rooting process looks like. It’s slow and unglamorous, and it doesn’t make for an impressive social announcement, but it’s what allows a life to bear fruit that remains.

I think of how simply and quietly the gospel seed goes into the ground. You can’t force it to grow faster. Over time, as the Word is planted and watered, growth comes almost imperceptibly, and one day you look up and there’s a harvest. Too many people try to rush into marriage the way a farmer might yank on a seedling to make it taller, and the result is damage, not maturity. The prayer for finances to be in order, for counsel from godly pastors, for patience, all of that reflects this wisdom. Let the seed do its work in the dark, in the quiet, in the ordinary faithfulness of daily life.

You mentioned the need for team ministry and the example of Priscilla and Aquila. That couple had risked their lives, traveled with Paul, and opened their home so that someone like Apollos could be taught the way of God more accurately. Their ministry together wasn’t a sudden flash; it grew out of years of shared hardship and steadfast love for the Lord. But remember, before any of that, there were individual callings being shaped. Mark himself started as a young boy, tagging along, probably doing small tasks, just watching. He was present in the garden when Jesus was arrested, and later he became a companion of Peter and Paul, eventually giving us a gospel account that carries the eyewitness testimony of Peter himself. God uses those humble, seemingly unremarkable seasons to equip us far beyond what we can see.

So for you, even as you pray for others, don’t underestimate what He is doing in your own life right now. You are not sidelined. The value you see in biblical marriage is itself a reflection of something deeper: a grasping of the mystery of Christ and the church. Yet the ultimate belonging is not found in a human spouse, but in being betrothed to Christ Himself. The resurrection will completely reframe every earthly relationship. Jesus told the Sadducees that in the resurrection, people will neither marry nor be given in marriage, but will be like the angels. That doesn’t make marriage unimportant now, it’s a profound picture, but it reminds us that our ultimate hope is fixed on something far greater.

Keep praying, keep studying the Scriptures, keep walking openly in the light. As you do, the Lord will continue to confirm His leading. The burden you feel for the lost and for the church, the desire for honesty and holiness in prospective marriages, that is already the fruit of the Spirit at work. Let peace act as umpire in your heart. He who began a good work in you will be faithful to complete it.
