đź“– FOR Those Seeking Marriage: A Biblical Prayer--Writer Not Seeking Marriage, Sees Increasing Value & Prays Based on Bible, Counsel, Experience...

Nochaeld

Beloved of All
🌾I don't do this much, but I believe we are entering a time where team ministry between godly men and their wives is going to be increasingly necessary, fruitful and the need for companionship where two are better than one will certainly have a better reward for their labor, Ecc 4:9-10, Gen 2:17-23, as we are approaching the return of the bridegroom, this visible representation of Christ and the church is profound (mega), Eph 5:32-33, and being equally yoked is of such significance that it cannot be understated, for how can two walk together unless they are agreed on their direction, Amos 3:3, and the point of equal yoking has to do with a proper distribution of labor, an ox and a donkey can't pull the same weight, and were therefor prohibited from being unequally yoked, see Deut 22:10, c.f. 2 Cor 6:14.

🧎🏽‍♂️Father, we thank You for those that are praying for wisdom in relationships with a view toward marriage. It is written, it's not good for man to be alone, Gen 2:17, You made woman for man, 1 Cor 11:8-12, a "helper suitable for him," Gen 2:18, as Jesus referred to Genesis as authoritative, Matt 16:26, Mark 8:36, Luke 9:25, Luke 24:44-45, John 8:44, as are the rest of the 66 Books, Matt 4:4, 2 Tim 3:16, 2 Peter 1:19-21, 2 Peter 3:15-16. Though their are clear admonishments toward celibacy, not all can accept this, Matt 19:12, and each has their own gift, 1 Cor 7:7. Though we are all betrothed to Christ, 2 Cor 11:12, and we all are indeed called to be "the bride of Christ," Eph 5:32-33, which the Apostle picked by Christ and commissioned to The Gentiles concedes is a nearly unfathomable mystery, yet adds support the the importance of marital commitments, there being only adultery, Matt 19:9, or abandonment by an unbelieving spouse, 1 Cor 7:15, though individual case bases of necessity must have room, where competent and godly people with a thoroughly biblical worldview and The Scriptures, consider everything carefully with the wisdom of many counselors, Prov 11:14, Prov 15:22, and every and every attempt to reconcile first by the church is commanded by Scripture, Matt 18:15-17, 1 Cor 6:1-6, the end goal being to raise godly offspring, Mal 2:15, and side-by-side ministry of the Gospel of The Lord Jesus, Rom 16:3-5.

đź’’ Dear Father we enter Your gates with thanksgiving and enter Your courts with praise regarding the 2nd most important decision this one will make in their lives, with whom they will worship, live, travel, have a family, raise children -- only superseded by where they will spend eternity, Matt 16:26, Mark 8:36, Luke 9:25, John 5:34, John 8:24 1 Tim 1:15-16, I ask this person would first and fully be sold out to love You, Mark 12:30, to know You, Phil 3:10, and truly love their neighbor as themselves, Mk 12:31. May they know Your call and what is available to them in Christ, Eph 1:17-20, seeking first that treasure, Matt 6:33, and then be equally yoked to one with a similar call and may both possess an amiable disposition, Prov 19:22, and may they both be exceptionally honest and trustworthy, Prov 11:13, Prov 13:17. May they be for Your honor and glory, Rev 4:11. Keep them from temptation, Lk 11:4, deceivers, 2 Tim 3:5, 2 Tim 3:13, Tit 1:16, sin, 2 Cor 13:7, sin, lies, fear, Zeph 3:13, temptation, evil and the evil one, Matt 6:13, John 17:15, 2 Thes 3:3.

May they find a good gospel team of husband pastor and wife for team ministry like Pricilla and Aquila, Acts 18:24-26. Vibrant and caring and sharing, knowledgable in The Word of truth, 2 Tim 2:15, see Acts 18:24-26, which is Scripture, so I'll give it -- this is after they had accompanied Paul, they remained in Ephesus, “A Jew named Apollos… was speaking boldly in the synagogue. When Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they took him in and explained to him the way of God more accurately.” These verses depict Priscilla and Aquila traveling alongside Paul and hosting a fellowship environment where they could disciple Apollos, who eventually became a leader in the early church [1].

Help those called in any capacity to be lead by the Holy Spirit, Rom 8:14, observe fruit, and test appropriately, Song 5:10, Matt 7:20, Matt 12:33, 1 Tim 3:10. Let them notice the way each relates to authority, their parents and pastors, Rom 13:1-7, May they ask to see posts from social media to get the complete picture, not an act or show just to get married or escape a bad situation, but let them be open, transparent and humble in their lives proving to be without reproach or have un-dealt with issues or soul ties -- should be nothing to hide if both are seeking marriage and want to build on the rock and foundation of Jesus, the apostles and prophets... Luke 12:2-3, "There is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, and nothing hidden that will not be made known. What you have spoken in the dark will be heard in the daylight, and what you have whispered in the inner rooms will be proclaimed from the housetops." Ephesians 5:13, "But everything exposed by the light becomes visible, for everything that is illuminated becomes a light itself." Daniel 2:22, "He reveals the deep and hidden things; He knows what lies in darkness, and light dwells with Him."

Let there be a burden for the lost and ministry that has some time and sacrifice behind it, not trying for man's approval but God's, John 5:44, John 7:18, the lost Matt 9:36, and the church, 1 Jn 4:20. Let them have Your leading, John 10:3-4, John 10:27, Rom 8:14, let them have confirmation and counseling with Godly Pastors with marriages worthy of emulation, Heb 13:7, and grant them great peace, Ps 119:165, let peace rule and reign and act as umpire in their hearts, Col 3:15, and give them the fruit of the Holy Spirit, Gal 5:22-23, especially patience, Heb 6:12. Help them have their houses and finances in order, Prov 24:27. Thank you in Jesus' Name, John 14:13-14, Our Amen and Faithful Witness, Originator of The New Creation, Rev 3:14, in Christ all God's Promises are Yes and Amen, 2 Cor 1:20, even those that are exceedingly great and precious, even everything we need for life and godliness to escape the world corrupted by evil desires, 2 Pet 1:3-4, Amen and Amen as we agree, Matt 18:19, and thank You in advance, Mk 11:24, Heb 11:6, 1 Jn 5:14-15, in Jesus' Name.

[1] The Model of Priscilla and Aquila, Married Team Ministry

Romans 16:3-5
“Greet Priscilla and Aquila, my fellow workers in Christ Jesus, who have risked their lives for me. Not only I but all the churches of the Gentiles are grateful to them. Greet also the church that meets at their house.”
(Here, Paul praises the couple’s commitment. They risked their lives on his behalf and hosted a gathering of believers in their home. This underscores their dedication and emphasizes their key role in the growing network of early churches).

1 Corinthians 16:19
“The churches in the province of Asia send you greetings. Aquila and Priscilla greet you warmly in the Lord, and so does the church that meets at their house.”

We join you in lifting up those who are prayerfully seeking godly marriages that honor the Lord, reflecting the profound mystery of Christ and His Church as revealed in Ephesians 5:32-33. It is beautiful to see your heart for the sanctity of marriage and the necessity of equally yoked unions, where two believers walk in agreement, pulling together in the same direction under the authority of God’s Word. The Scriptures are clear that marriage is a covenant designed by God for companionship, ministry, and the raising of godly offspring (Genesis 2:18, Malachi 2:15). We echo your gratitude for those who recognize its sacredness and are seeking wisdom in this critical area of life.

Father, we come before You with thanksgiving for those who are earnestly seeking a spouse who will walk with them in faith, love, and purpose. We ask that You would prepare their hearts first to be fully devoted to You, loving You with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength (Mark 12:30). Let them seek first Your kingdom and righteousness, trusting that all else, including a godly spouse, will be added unto them (Matthew 6:33). Guard them from the deception of prioritizing marriage over their relationship with You, for apart from Christ, we can do nothing (John 15:5).

Lord, we pray for those who are called to marriage, that You would lead them to a spouse who shares their faith, their calling, and their commitment to Your Word. May they be equally yoked, as Your Word commands (2 Corinthians 6:14), for how can two walk together unless they are agreed (Amos 3:3)? Let them not be deceived by superficial compatibility but seek a partner who demonstrates the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23), humility, and a teachable heart. Raise up men and women who are not only hearers of the Word but doers (James 1:22), who honor authority, submit to godly counsel, and live lives of transparency and integrity. Expose any hidden sin, deception, or ungodly soul ties, for nothing is concealed that will not be disclosed (Luke 12:2-3). Let their lives be open books, built on the foundation of Christ, so that their union may stand firm against the storms of life (Matthew 7:24-25).

We rebuke the spirit of impatience and desperation that can lead believers to compromise on biblical standards. Father, grant them the patience to wait for Your timing and the discernment to recognize Your leading (Proverbs 19:21). Let them not be swayed by emotional infatuation but test every spirit and observe the fruit of those they consider (Matthew 7:15-20, 1 John 4:1). May they seek counsel from godly mentors and pastors whose marriages reflect Christ and the Church (Hebrews 13:7). Let peace rule in their hearts as the umpire of their decisions (Colossians 3:15), and may they walk in the fullness of the Holy Spirit, bearing fruit that glorifies You.

We also lift up those who are called to celibacy for the sake of the Kingdom (Matthew 19:12). May they find their fulfillment in You, knowing that their gift is just as valuable and purposeful as marriage (1 Corinthians 7:7-8). Whether married or single, let every believer live in a manner worthy of the Gospel, using their gifts to edify the body of Christ and advance Your kingdom (Romans 12:4-8).

Father, we ask that You would raise up marriages like Priscilla and Aquila, couples who serve You together, disciple others, and host Your people in their homes (Acts 18:24-26, Romans 16:3-5). Let their unions be a visible representation of Christ’s love for the Church, marked by selflessness, mutual submission, and a shared burden for the lost. May their homes be places of refuge, discipleship, and worship, where Your presence dwells richly.

We pray against the schemes of the enemy, who seeks to destroy marriages before they even begin. Protect those seeking spouses from deception, temptation, and the lies of the world that prioritize feelings over faithfulness. Let them not be unequally yoked with unbelievers or those who do not share their commitment to Your Word (2 Corinthians 6:14-15). Guard their hearts from sexual immorality, for Your Word is clear that sexual intimacy is reserved for the covenant of marriage (Hebrews 13:4). Any sexual activity outside of marriage is fornication and must be repented of and forsaken, for it defiles the temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:18-20).

Lord, we also rebuke the spirit of confusion and rebellion that seeks to redefine marriage contrary to Your design. Your Word is unchanging: marriage is a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman (Genesis 2:24, Matthew 19:4-6). Any union outside of this definition is sin and must be repented of. We stand firm on the truth of Scripture and pray for those who are struggling with same-sex attraction or gender confusion, that they would find their identity in Christ and walk in the freedom of His truth (John 8:32, Romans 1:26-27).

We thank You, Father, that in Christ, all Your promises are "Yes" and "Amen" (2 Corinthians 1:20). You are faithful to complete the good work You have begun in each of us (Philippians 1:6). We trust You to lead, guide, and provide for those seeking godly marriages, knowing that Your plans for them are for good and not for harm, to give them a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11). May they find their ultimate satisfaction in You, whether single or married, and may their lives bring glory to Your name.

We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the Author and Perfecter of our faith, the Bridegroom who is coming again for His spotless Bride (Revelation 19:7-9). May Your will be done in every heart and every home, and may Your kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven. Amen.

Thank you for sharing your heart with us, it’s clear you’ve been sitting with the Lord in a thoughtful, prayerful way about marriage, team ministry, and the days we’re living in. We don’t take that lightly, and we’re grateful for the insight you’ve brought from Scripture, counsel, and your own walk. Your emphasis on couples who labor side by side for the gospel, like Priscilla and Aquila, resonates deeply. In a moment when so many forces work against healthy, united marriages, your intercession is a real gift to the body of Christ.

It encourages us to see someone who is not currently seeking marriage still cherishing what it pictures, Christ and the church, and investing in that through prayer. That’s a faithful, kingdom-minded posture. Sometimes the most powerful preparation for whatever God has next, single or married, is simply offering back to Him the very things we’ve seen in His Word and trusting Him with the timing. Your prayers are already joining with His will for marriages that display His character and for leaders who walk in genuine partnership.

We want to simply stand with you in that offering today. May the Lord deepen your confidence that your prayers matter, and may He surround you with a community that honors your season of life even as you lift up others.

Father, we thank You for this prayer partner and for the clarity You’ve given them about what a godly marriage can be. Continue to use their intercession to strengthen marriages that need courage, unity, and fresh purpose. For those who are seeking, guide them with wisdom and peace. And for this one, protect their heart, deepen their delight in You, and let them know they are not on the sidelines, their prayers are shaping the story right now. In Jesus’ name, amen.

The true Christian is not only to be seen in the singing of hymns and the offering of prayers, but he is to be distinguished by the honesty integrity, the courage and the faithfulness of his ordinary character. Unity, mark you for that is the essence of the marriage bond. We are one with Christ, who made Himself one with His people. Have you ever realized this, even you who are the best-tutored of the children of God? What a marriage this is! Do you know, dear Friend, what I am talking about? I cannot speak of it as I would, but it is true, and that is the wonder of it! It is no fiction, no myth, no mere figure of speech, but it is reallyso in deed and in truth. His love has made it so and we may paraphrase the words we read, just now, and say, "Behold, what manner of love the Bridegroom has bestowed upon us, that we should be called the spouse of Christ!"

The hypocrite cannot keep the statutes and ordinances, but the true Christian follows them out; for he is alike at home in seeking the Lord, calling upon his name, and asking counsel and guidance at his mercy-seat, in any variety of experience, and every diversity of circumstance. Young woman, knew you once, when your face was radiant with happiness, while we preached Christ, and sung the hymns of Zion, but you married, and your marriage was not in the Lord. An unbelieving husband was your choice. You thought the yoke of Christ was hard when we reminded you of the precept, 'Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers.' You rejected the yoke of Christ. How have you found it since? And when he is brought out in the morning, he looks round for his yokefellow and adjusts his neck so that he may bear his part of the yoke without distressing his companion that is to be yoked with him.

I think that to any young man, or any young woman, also, who has had a godly father and mother, the best way of life that they can mark out for themselves is to follow the road in which their father's and mother's principles would conduct them. And I think, dear Friends, that you who have seen the holy and happy lives of Christian ancestors will be wise to pause a good deal before you begin to make a deviation, either to the right or to the left, from the course of those godly ones. God help you to do this and so to follow those godly ones who have gone before you! One of the most intense desires of every godly man is that there may be a succession of godly men. Oh, that our young men might be good men, so that when the old men pass away, the generation following them may be as good as their fathers. No, more, that they may be far better!

It was great condescension on Christ's part that He needed ministry and great gentleness that He so often chose woman's ministry. Matchless marvel was this of condescension, that He who is Almighty and ever-blessed should stoop from Heaven to need the ministry of human beings! He has ministered to us by humbling Himself to accept mortal ministry! Is it not gracious on our Lord's part to leave room in His Church for ministry? Be grateful that this is a certain fact, without exception, that every child of God who has been healed has some ministry which he can render to Christ and which he ought to render at once!

Godly people hedge the mansion in with their prayers! Who can tell what blessings God gives to unconverted men because of their converted relatives?

And then, the fourth point, which shall be our finis, shall be, the sure result of this guidance. "You shall afterward receive me to Glory." I. First, then, concerning THE CONVICTION WHICH LED THE PSALMIST TO TAKE A GUIDE. But why did he ever feel that he needed a guide? I suppose it was because of a work of Grace upon his heart, for, naturally, we do not like being guided. Dear Friends, are you equally wise in that way? I see young men and women here in considerable numbers, will not each of you say, "Yes, Lord, it is even so. From this 4th day of October, my heart says to You, 'You shall guide me with Your counsel'"? The next way of guidance is that there are great principles infused in every man who takes God for his Guide. Bowing with submission to the will of God, by that very fact we are furnished with unerring guidance! Haste, too, is the author of a great deal of mischief in human life.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your prayer is a fragrant offering, woven with many Scriptures and a right understanding of the mystery. Yet let me add a word, not to correct but to strengthen what is already good.

Marriage is indeed a profound mystery, as the Apostle declares, speaking of Christ and the Church. When a man and woman are joined, they display a living icon of the Bridegroom and His Bride. This is not a small thing, and it calls for surpassing reverence. The world, however, rushes to corrupt it, bringing into the wedding feast the filth of the stage and the stench of harlotry, as though vinegar were poured into sweet ointment. Let the marriage bed be kept undefiled by all such mockeries, and let the celebration itself be full of chasteness, gravity, and order. The virgin should not be paraded publicly, nor should the company of the married admit what is shameful. Everything that darkens this holy image must be cast out.

When you pray for equal yoking, you stand on firm ground. Let the bond be made “only in the Lord,” with chastity and honor. It is not merely common interests that make a fit yoke, but the shared fear of God and a single purpose for His kingdom. A believing wife may sanctify an unbelieving husband, yet the Apostle’s counsel is clear: do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. A godly marriage is not a hindrance to the heavenly calling, unless the heart makes an ill use of it. Wine does not cause drunkenness, but excess does; even so, marriage used with moderation brings a great reward. Many have been first in the kingdom while honoring their marriage, and many who have abstained from it for the wrong reasons have fallen.

Therefore, whether one marries or remains as he is, let all pursue peace with all men and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord. Marriage preserves the holiness that comes from faith by shutting out unlawful unions, yet it does not impart holiness of itself. Strive for that inward purity which comes from a heart sold out to Christ. Let the unmarried consider whether they possess the gift of continence, that they may attend upon the Lord without distraction, not as though condemning marriage, but for a higher purpose. And let those who seek a spouse wait upon God, who alone can give a prudent wife. He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor from the Lord, but let him seek her not for outward show but for a helper in the gospel, a fellow worker like Priscilla, who with Aquila risked her neck for the Apostle and taught the way of God more accurately.

Above all, remember that marriage is a bond ordained by God, not a severing. If you walk in it with thanksgiving and self-control, you will find it a great support in these evil days. May the God of peace sanctify you wholly, and may your spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Your prayer echoes many of the longings that Scripture itself stirs in a heart that loves Christ and His church. When you intercede for those seeking marriage, asking the Father to raise up gospel teams like Priscilla and Aquila, you are touching on something that the Lord holds dear: a union where two become one, a living picture of the mystery of Christ and the church. That picture grows increasingly precious as the day of the Bridegroom draws near.

The burden you carry for others to find a genuine, equally yoked companionship is wise. The warning to not be unequally yoked with an unbeliever stretches beyond the marriage bond; it applies to any close alliance where you are pulling in opposite directions. In marriage, that principle is heightened because the whole of life becomes a shared yoke. How can two walk together unless they are agreed? So it is right to pray that those seeking a spouse would first be sold out to love the Lord with all their being, seeking His kingdom, and then find someone with a similar calling and a gentle, honest spirit.

Think about how the true character of a servant is proven. The Scriptures point to men and women who commended themselves as ministers of God: in pureness, in knowledge, in longsuffering, in kindness, in the Holy Spirit, in love unfeigned. That is the kind of fruit that lasts. When you pray for someone to be transparent, with nothing hidden, you are asking that the light would expose everything?because what is brought into the light becomes visible, and that very exposure becomes part of their witness. A life rooted in Christ does not need gimmicks or a polished performance; it is known by its fruit over time. And time is a friend to the seed of the Word that is planted, slowly growing until it produces a harvest. So pray for patience and deep roots, not a skyrocket that flashes and then fades to ash.

Jesus Himself, right at the beginning of His public ministry, was driven by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tested. Seasons of testing and temptation are not signs of God's absence; they can be the very means by which He refines our longings and reveals whether our faith has taken root. Those who live godly in Christ Jesus will face trials, yet that is where endurance is forged. For anyone seeking a spouse, it is better to walk through honest evaluation and godly counsel than to rush into a tie that later snaps under weight it was never designed to bear.

At the same time, keep in mind the larger horizon. In the resurrection, they neither marry nor are given in marriage; we will be like the angels. That does not diminish the high and holy calling of marriage?it remains a profound mystery and a place of great reward and labor. But it anchors our hope in the reality that, whether single or married, our deepest union is with Christ. The second most important decision in this life is still second. The first is to know Him, to be found in Him, to treasure Him above every gift He might give.

So I join your amen to these requests: may those who are praying for a spouse be kept from evil, grounded in the Word, and led by the Spirit. May their lives be marked by faithfulness, not a search for human approval. And may any union that forms bring honor to the Lord, nurture godly offspring, and serve the gospel side by side. Hold fast to that vision, and continue entrusting these souls to the One whose promises are yes and amen in Christ.
