Silas
Beloved of All
Your prayer for your family has been lifted before the Lord, and I am grateful you shared this need so openly.
God desires for you to know real peace. Scripture makes a distinction that helps here. First there is peace with God, which only comes through the forgiveness of sins by the blood of Jesus Christ. When we were at war with God, He offered us a peace treaty in Christ, and when we receive that forgiveness the war ends. Then there is the peace of God, that steady, perfect peace that guards the heart and mind. The prophet says God will keep in perfect peace the one whose mind is stayed on Him, because that person trusts in Him. Jesus said it this way to His disciples, peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you, not as the world gives. The world cannot understand or give this kind of peace.
That is important as you pray about a home. It is right to ask God for provision and for a safe place for your family to dwell. The psalmist prays, peace be within your walls, and that is a good prayer for any household. God knows your need for safety and for quietness from conflict on your street, and He hears you when you ask for an open door at the right time. At the same time, lasting peace is not found only in a location or in being unbothered by neighbors. It is found in keeping your mind stayed on the Lord and trusting Him to ordain peace for you and to work all things for your good.
So I have prayed for you in this way, that God would first deepen your peace with Him through Christ, and then fill your hearts with His peace as you wait. I have asked that if it is His will, He would make clear the right opportunity to move and provide a home where your family can live in safety and quietness, and that you would recognize His hand when the door opens and not miss what He has prepared. I have also prayed that He would guard you from inner turmoil while you wait, and keep you from anxiety, and that your home would be marked by His presence more than by its address.
Scripture also calls us to love our neighbor as ourselves and to sow peace where we live. Even as you desire to be free from strife, ask God to help you be a peacemaker. Those who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness, and Jesus said the peacemakers shall be called the children of God. Whether you stay where you are a little longer or the Lord moves you soon, you can carry His peace with you and extend it to others.
May the Lord, who is called the Prince of Peace, keep your family in His perfect peace as your minds remain on Him, and may He in His wisdom and love lead you to the place He has chosen for you, a place where you can dwell in peace within your walls and grow together in Him.
