FOCUS

AMSG

Disciple of Prayer
Will you please pray with me for focus and that there will be no distractions in the Name of Jesus as we carry out the work set by God. Thank you.

We come before the Lord with you, lifting up your desire for focus and clarity as you carry out the work He has set before you. The enemy seeks to distract and derail God’s purposes, but we stand firm in the truth that Christ has already overcome every scheme of the devil. Let us pray together in agreement, trusting that the Holy Spirit will guard your heart and mind.

Heavenly Father, we thank You for the calling You have placed on this dear one’s life. We ask that You sharpen their focus and remove every distraction that seeks to pull them away from Your will. Your Word says in Colossians 3:23-24, "And whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ." Lord, let this truth sink deep into their spirit, every task, no matter how small, is an act of worship unto You.

We rebuke the spirit of procrastination, confusion, and weariness in Jesus’ name. The enemy has no authority to steal Your purposes, and we declare that this work will be completed with excellence and joy. Philippians 4:6-7 reminds us, "In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus." May Your peace, which transcends all understanding, fill their mind and shield them from every distraction.

We also pray for wisdom and discipline. Proverbs 4:25-27 says, "Let your eyes look straight ahead. Fix your gaze directly before you. Make the path of your feet level. Let all of your ways be established. Don’t turn to the right hand nor to the left." Lord, help them to walk in obedience, keeping their eyes fixed on You and the work You have assigned. When fatigue or discouragement comes, remind them that Your strength is made perfect in weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9).

Finally, we ask that You would bless the fruit of their labor. May everything they do bring glory to Your name and advance Your kingdom. We declare that no weapon formed against them will prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and that You will complete the good work You have begun in them (Philippians 1:6).

In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

Thank you for sharing this request. We're honored to pray with you about staying focused on the work God has set before you. Distractions can feel relentless, and it's easy to get pulled in many directions. One thing that helps us is to begin each day, or even each task, with a brief, simple prayer dedicating that time to the Lord and asking Him to guard our attention. It's not a formula, just a way of re-centering our dependence on Him moment by moment.

Father, we come before You together, asking that You grant the clarity and concentration needed to carry out what You've called us to do. Quiet the inner and outer noise that pulls us off course. Fill our minds with Your peace and steady our hearts so we can work with purpose and diligence. In Jesus' name, amen.

The work set by God is a work He Himself undertakes, and He performs it entirely. This is a comfort to the soul that fears distraction, for the success of the task rests not upon our strength but upon His divine decree. The Christ must and shall succeed, for His work is the subject of a divine decree. When the mind would wander, remember that He has not grown weary of the work, neither is He discouraged. He will do it, brother; He will do it, sister. Before He began, He knew all about it.

Yet you ask for focus, and rightly so. Give earnest heed and careful attention, that by no means, and in no way you refuse Him who speaks. The habit of trifling with the minutest detail of God's Word is very sinful, and distraction is often the soul's trifling with the voice of the Beloved. Hear you Him. When we look to Christ, and listen to His voice, we are as those who gaze on the vast ocean in which the Infinite is mirrored forth. Every rightly constituted mind must feel shocked at the way in which certain parts of God's Word are treated by the thoughtless. Let it not be so with you. Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly; let no promise grow stale, for the Word endures forever and is forever a well flowing for thirsty souls.

You must work the works of Him that sent you, while it is day, but do not work like a slave under the master's lash. Serve your Master from pure delight, because He is your Ishi, your Husband. That intimate union is the remedy for distraction. When the soul calls Him no more Baali, a mere master of duty, but Ishi, a bond of love, the work becomes sweet and the focus clear. The vessel must be prepared for the Master's use, and Grace is clearly seen in the making and fitting of that vessel. That preparation often comes through the Word itself. Oh, blessed change, Divine renewal, which has passed upon us, that now the Word should be sweet! When the Word is sweet to the taste, the soul is drawn from every other allure. A few years ago, God’s Word was so far from being sweet to us that we thought it the driest book ever written. But He has made His wonderful works to be remembered, and by His Grace we now find our focus in the remembrance of His past mercies and the contemplation of His promises.

Therefore, let your recollection of God’s goodness move you to praise. This too is a weapon against distraction. Much of God’s praise is never made known on this earth for lack of a ready pen to record the gracious experiences of His people. Record them, remember them, and let your soul be stayed on the work He has commanded. If meat offends your brother, you would abstain; how much more should you abstain from every thought and care that offends your focus upon Christ? Hear Jesus Christ expectantly, and take heed by the power of God’s Spirit always to hear Him obediently. The strengthening of the worker is as necessary a part of God’s work as the immediate operation of the Spirit with the message. So lean not upon the flower of the grass, which withers, not upon your own resolve, which is but flesh, but upon the Spirit’s own work upon the heart and conscience, which alone endures. He who has made your eyes to see and your ears to hear will keep you attentive to the task. This work in the hearts of men He must and will carry on to His own praise and glory, let who will, say no to Him.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!
