Financial

Disciple of Prayer
I am asking God to sell a piece of equipment I my business this week. It was a purchase that I made that I shouldn’t have. If I can sell and get out from under it, it would greatly reduce my financial anxiety and burden. I desire to bless others financially as the Spirit prompts and because of mistakes I’ve made financially, I’m not in a great position to do that right now.

We hear the weight in your words, the regret over a purchase that shouldn’t have happened, the financial anxiety it’s causing, and the ache of wanting to bless others freely but feeling stuck. That’s a real burden, and we’re not going to pile on with lectures. You want to make it right, and that’s a good place to be.

One thing that often helps in moments like this is to pair prayer with a small, concrete action. For you, that might mean listing the equipment today, reaching out to a few trusted contacts who might know a buyer, or asking a financially wise friend to help you navigate what a fair sale looks like. Taking that step can move you from the paralysis of worry to a posture of active trust. God uses our honest efforts, even when they feel small.

Underneath the finances, it sounds like you carry a real longing to be generous, and that desire itself is from Him. Even now, in the waiting, that heart matters. Sometimes the freedom to give starts not when our bank account changes but when we refuse to let shame or anxiety define us. You are not your mistake.

We’ll pray with you that a buyer comes quickly and at a fair price.

Lord, you know the strain this has caused. Please bring the right person, smooth the details, and lift this burden. Quiet the anxious thoughts and give wisdom for future decisions. In the meantime, help this one to sense your nearness and to find small ways to bless others even in a lean season. We ask in Jesus’ name. Amen.

We hear your heart, dear brother or sister, and we stand with you in seeking the Lord’s provision and wisdom in this situation. Financial burdens can weigh heavily, especially when they stem from decisions we now recognize as unwise. But take comfort, our God is not only a God of justice but also of mercy, redemption, and second chances. He sees your desire to honor Him with your resources and your willingness to learn from past mistakes. Let us bring this before Him together.

First, we want to acknowledge your humility in admitting this purchase was not the wisest choice. The Bible warns us about the dangers of hasty or unwise financial decisions. Proverbs 21:5 tells us, "The plans of the diligent surely lead to profit; and everyone who is hasty comes surely to poverty." It’s clear you’ve taken this to heart, and that is a step toward godly stewardship. We also see your heart to bless others, which aligns with Scripture’s call to generosity. 2 Corinthians 9:7 says, "Let each man give according as he has determined in his heart; not grudgingly, or under compulsion; for God loves a cheerful giver." Your desire to give is beautiful, and we believe God will honor that as you seek to walk in obedience.

Now, let us pray over this situation, trusting that the Lord is able to turn what was meant for loss into a testimony of His provision.

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, the One who owns the cattle on a thousand hills and holds all things in His hands. Lord, we lift up this burden of financial anxiety and the weight of this unwise purchase. You know the details of this situation, and You know the heart behind it. We ask, Father, that You would open a door for this equipment to be sold quickly and favorably. Provide a buyer who sees its value and is ready to act, so that this burden can be lifted. We declare that You are Jehovah Jireh, our Provider, and that nothing is too hard for You.

Lord, we also ask for wisdom moving forward. Teach us to number our days and to seek Your counsel before making financial decisions. Help us to be good stewards of what You’ve entrusted to us, so that we may honor You with our resources. Father, we repent for any impulsive or unwise choices that have led to this moment, and we ask for Your forgiveness and grace to cover us. Restore what has been lost, and use even this situation for Your glory.

We also pray for peace to flood this heart. Financial stress can feel overwhelming, but You have not given us a spirit of fear. Remind us that our worth is not found in our bank accounts but in Christ, and that You are our ultimate security. Help us to trust You with the details, knowing that You care for us and will never leave us lacking what we truly need.

Finally, Lord, we ask that You would align this heart with Your heart for generosity. Even now, as we wait for Your provision, show us how to bless others in ways that don’t depend on our abundance but on Your love flowing through us. May this season of waiting draw us closer to You and deepen our dependence on Your faithfulness.

We pray all of this in the powerful name of Jesus, the Name above every name, the One who makes a way where there seems to be no way. Amen.

Now, let us encourage you with a few practical and spiritual steps as you wait on the Lord. First, continue to seek His wisdom in all financial matters. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." This means bringing every decision, big or small, before the Lord in prayer and seeking godly counsel when needed.

Second, consider whether there are any lessons the Lord might be teaching you through this season. Sometimes financial struggles are an opportunity for God to refine our priorities, teach us contentment, or reveal areas where we’ve placed our trust in money rather than in Him. Philippians 4:11-13 reminds us, "Not that I speak because of lack, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content in it. I know how to be humbled, and I know how to abound. In everything and in all things I have learned the secret both to be filled and to be hungry, both to abound and to be in need. I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me."

Third, remain faithful in your giving, even if it feels small. The widow’s offering in Mark 12:41-44 was praised by Jesus because she gave out of her poverty, not her abundance. God sees and honors even the smallest acts of obedience. This is not about earning His favor but about aligning our hearts with His heart for generosity.

Lastly, hold fast to the truth that God is working all things together for your good (Romans 8:28). Even this financial setback can be used to shape your character, deepen your trust in Him, and ultimately bring glory to His name. Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of your faith, and remember that He is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that you could ask or think (Ephesians 3:20).

We stand with you in faith, believing that the Lord will move on your behalf. Keep pressing into Him, and watch how He turns this situation around for His glory and your good.

We understand some of that weight you’re carrying, the regret over a misstep, and the longing to be in a place where you can freely bless others again. That desire in you is a good thing, even while the anxiety feels heavy right now.

When we’re under financial strain, our minds can loop back through the mistake, adding a layer of shame that isolates us. But you are not alone in this, and God’s care for you isn’t suspended while you work through the consequences of one purchase. It may help to simply acknowledge that the anxiety is doing what anxiety does, it fixates on the threat, telling you everything depends on this one sale, this one week. The pressure you feel is understandable, but you don’t have to carry it as if the outcome rests entirely on your shoulders.

One concrete step you might take: quietly ask a trusted, discreet person, perhaps someone from your church or a fellow business owner, to keep this need in prayer with you and to keep an ear open for any leads. Sometimes simply bringing a burden into the light, without pretense, can break its power and open doors we couldn’t see on our own. As you do, keep actively listing and marketing the equipment as wisely as you can, while entrusting the timing to God.

We’re praying with you now:

Lord Jesus, you see the pressure and the sincere heart behind this request. We lift up this piece of equipment to you, asking for a fair and timely sale, this week, if it’s your will. Grant clear thinking, favor with any potential buyer, and steady peace for our friend in the waiting. Lift the burden of regret, and keep the generous spirit alive in them. Protect their mind from spiraling fear, and provide what’s needed day by day. In your name, Amen.

You have been carrying this weight for some while now, and it presses on you in the quiet hours. A purchase you wish you had never made, a piece of equipment that sits like a stone in the field, and the thought of it tugs at your peace and makes your prayers feel strained. You are asking the Lord to lift it away this very week, to send a buyer, to open a door so that the burden may roll off your shoulders. That is a right and honest prayer, and our Father does not turn a deaf ear to the cry of His children when they are in a strait place.

But let me sit with you a moment and speak of what lies beneath the asking. You say you desire to bless others, and the regret is sharp because a past misstep has tied your hands. That very desire, the ache to be a giver and not merely a receiver, is itself a quiet work of the Spirit in you. The worldling spends and forgets; the child of God feels the pinch and turns it into a longing for better things. Do not despise that holy discontent. It is far more precious than a full purse with an empty heart.

Think of it this way: the business of the soul is indoor work. All the water in the sea cannot harm the ship as long as it stays outside; the danger begins when it gets inside. So our Lord Jesus said, “Let not your heart be troubled.” He did not say the trouble would vanish, He said your heart need not be its harbor. The equipment you want to sell is outside you. The real battle is keeping the peace of Christ within, even while the advertisement waits unanswered and the hours tick by. You may walk through a desert of care with a flower called heart’s-ease in your buttonhole, if you know that your times are in His hands.

And this burden, it is one you must bear, in a sense, alone before God. There are some loads no friend can lift, no counselor can carry. You made the purchase; you feel the debt; the responsibility sits on your own shoulders. Yet that very loneliness is meant to drive you nearer to the One who says, “My yoke is easy, and My burden is light.” He does not chide you for the mistake. He invites you to hand over the whole tangled mess and let Him be your wisdom and your rescue. He is not a hard master waiting to scold; He is a shepherd lifting the sheep out of the bramble.

Do you remember how a father holds his little child’s hand in the dark? The child cannot see the path, cannot guess when help will come, but the hand is warm and strong, and that is enough for the next step. Your heavenly Father holds you so. He may send the buyer on a day you do not expect, or He may delay for reasons only eternity will unfold; but in the waiting He is doing something deeper than a transaction. He is teaching you to trust not in equipment sold or kept, but in the God who raises the dead.

So pray boldly, yes, ask again this morning, and at noon, and before you sleep. But also spread the whole matter before Him like a love letter in a black-edged envelope: tell Him your regret, your hope, your desire to be rid of this weight so that your hands may be free for kindness. Then leave the envelope on His table and go about your day. The Lord who feeds the ravens and clothes the lilies will not forget your cry. And even now, before the answer comes, He is able to make your heart so calm and sure that the anxiety shrinks down to nothing, while Christ fills all the room. May the peace that passes understanding garrison your mind, and may you soon have cause to say, “This was the Lord’s doing, and it is marvelous in my eyes.” Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!
