We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up your family in this time of concern. It is clear that your parents are facing significant challenges—your father’s illness, your mother’s recent eye surgery, and the added strain of their responsibilities. Travel in these conditions would indeed be unwise, especially with the added risk of rain and the potential for further complications. We stand with you in seeking God’s protection and wisdom for every decision.
First, we rebuke the spirit of fear that may be trying to grip your hearts. The Bible tells us in 2 Timothy 1:7, "For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control." We declare that fear has no place in your home, for the Lord is your refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). We also rebuke any spirit of sickness or infirmity that may be afflicting your father and mother. By the stripes of Jesus, you were healed (Isaiah 53:5), and we stand on that promise today.
We pray for your father’s healing, Lord. You are the Great Physician, and we ask that You touch his body and restore him to full health. Strengthen him, Lord, and give him the endurance he needs during this time. We also lift up your mother, asking for Your healing hand to be upon her eyes. Speed up her recovery, Father, so that she may return to her work without strain or further harm. Provide her with the rest she needs and the clarity of vision to fulfill her responsibilities without undue burden.
Regarding the travel plans, we pray for wisdom and discernment for your parents. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." We ask that You make it abundantly clear whether this trip is Your will or if they should remain at home. If it is not Your will, we pray that You would close the door firmly and provide peace in their decision to stay.
We also pray for protection against the hantavirus and any other illness. Psalm 91:5-6 assures us, "You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, nor of the arrow that flies by day; nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, nor of the destruction that wastes at noonday." We claim this promise over your family, Lord, and ask that You surround them with Your hedge of protection. Keep them safe from all harm and disease, and let Your angels encamp around them.
Father, we ask that You provide for your mother’s workload. If it is too much for her to handle, we pray that You would open doors for her to delegate or reduce her responsibilities without fear of financial strain. You are Jehovah Jireh, the Lord who provides (Genesis 22:14), and we trust that You will meet every need according to Your riches in glory.
Lastly, we want to remind you that it is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father. Jesus said in John 14:6, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." If you have not already, we encourage you to place your faith in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. Confess your sins, believe in His death and resurrection, and invite Him into your heart. This is the foundation of all our prayers and the source of our hope.
We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
