We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up this urgent plea for deliverance from generational curses that have bound families in chains of infirmity, pride, and spiritual oppression. The Word of God declares in Exodus 20:5 that the Lord visits "the iniquity of the fathers on the children, on the third and on the fourth generation of those who hate Me," yet in that same breath, we cling to the promise of Exodus 34:7, where He "keeps loving kindness for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin." We stand on the truth that Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us, for it is written, "Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree" (Galatians 3:13).
First, we must address the foundation of this deliverance. If the name of Jesus Christ has not been confessed as Lord and Savior, we urge repentance and faith in Him alone. There is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me" (John 14:6). Without Him, there is no access to the Father, no forgiveness of sins, and no breaking of curses. If you have not surrendered your life to Christ, we plead with you to do so now, confess your sins, believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, and you will be saved (Romans 10:9).
Now, we take authority in the name of Jesus Christ over every generational curse, infirmity, and spirit of pride that has plagued this family line. We rebuke the spirit of infirmity in the mighty name of Jesus, for it is written, "Surely He has borne our sicknesses and carried our pains; yet we esteemed Him stricken, struck by God, and afflicted. But He was pierced for our transgressions. He was crushed for our iniquities. The punishment that brought our peace was on Him, and by His wounds we are healed" (Isaiah 53:4-5). We declare healing and wholeness over every physical, emotional, and spiritual ailment that has been passed down through generations.
We break the power of pride, which is an abomination to the Lord (Proverbs 16:5). Pride lifts up the heart against God and exalts itself above His will. We command every spirit of arrogance, rebellion, and self-sufficiency to flee in Jesus' name. The Word declares, "God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble" (James 4:6). We humble ourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may lift us up in due time (1 Peter 5:6).
We also rebuke every spirit of witchcraft, idolatry, and occult involvement that may have opened doors to these curses. The Lord is clear: "There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, one who uses divination, one who practices sorcery, or an enchanter, or a sorcerer, or a charmer, or a consulter with a familiar spirit, or a wizard, or a necromancer. For whoever does these things is an abomination to Yahweh" (Deuteronomy 18:10-12). If there has been any involvement in such practices, we urge repentance and renunciation. Confess these sins before God, burn any objects associated with them, and sever all ties with ungodly influences.
We declare that this family is no longer bound by the sins of the past. Through the blood of Jesus, we cancel every legal right the enemy has had to oppress this bloodline. The Word says, "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9). We stand on the finished work of the cross, where Jesus disarmed the principalities and powers, triumphing over them in it (Colossians 2:15).

We command every spirit of infirmity, sickness, and disease to leave now in Jesus' name. We speak healing to every cell, organ, and system in the body. We declare that by His stripes, we are healed (1 Peter 2:24). We rebuke every spirit of pride, arrogance, and rebellion, and we ask You, Lord, to fill this family with humility, meekness, and a spirit of obedience to Your Word.
Father, we ask for Your protection over this family. Surround them with Your angels, and let Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). We declare that they are no longer slaves to fear but have been given a spirit of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7).
We pray for a fresh outpouring of Your Holy Spirit upon this family. Let them be filled with Your presence, Your wisdom, and Your love. May they walk in the fullness of their identity in Christ, knowing that they are more than conquerors through Him who loved them (Romans 8:37). We declare that this family will serve You all the days of their lives, and their children’s children will know the Lord and walk in His ways.
Thank You, Father, for hearing our prayer. Thank You for setting this family free and restoring what the enemy has stolen. We give You all the glory, honor, and praise, for You alone are worthy. In the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.

Meditate on Scriptures such as Psalm 103:2-5, which declares, "Praise Yahweh, my soul, and don’t forget all His benefits, who forgives all your sins, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from destruction, who crowns you with loving kindness and tender mercies, who satisfies your desire with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s." Walk in the authority you have in Christ, and do not give the enemy any foothold through unconfessed sin, unforgiveness, or compromise.
If there are specific names or infirmities mentioned in the curses you are breaking, speak them aloud in prayer, renouncing their power and declaring the victory of Christ over them. The enemy thrives in secrecy, but the light of God’s Word exposes and destroys his works. Continue to pray without ceasing, and seek godly counsel and fellowship with believers who can stand with you in faith. The battle belongs to the Lord, and He has already won the victory!

You speak of family curses, of names and infirmities and pride. But know this: the true curse under which every soul groans is far older and deeper than any lineage of man. It is the curse of the Law. As it is written, "Cursed is everyone that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the Law to do them." Every child born of Adam is born under this curse, for we are all born under the Law. And be assured, when God curses, it is a curse of the most weighty kind. Sin must be punished. God does not trifle with it, He curses it.
Yet what a wonder is the Gospel! Our deliverance from the curse is not by a moral change in us, but by a redemptive work for us. Christ was slain and has redeemed us to God by His blood. The manner of our deliverance is this: "Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the Law, being made a curse for us." I do not understand language at all unless this means substitution, in our place, He bore our sins and the curse which came of it. God has not only invented a way of deliverance; He has found a ransom. "I have found a ransom." This is the free gift of Divine Love.
You mention infirmities. It is true that many of God’s dear children are, like the woman bowed down, true sons and daughters of Abraham yet constantly subject to infirmity. Unbelief, distrust, and lingering fears spoil their spiritual beauty. Yet He who loosened her is mighty to save. Jesus Christ loosens the prisoners! Take encouragement. Deliverance from the power of sin is as much the work of God as deliverance from its guilt; He who brings you forth will do it effectually. It is not of him that wills, but of God that shows mercy.
And what of pride? It is a foul disease, a scarlet fever of the soul that perpetually breaks out in puny man. A sinner may perish through pride as easily as through any other sin. God alone must deal with it to hide pride from man. The only place pride dies is at the foot of the cross, where we see the cost of ransom and confess we can do nothing. He who rises from his despondency dare not take an atom of the honor, it must be free grace only.
Therefore, look not to any charm or formula to break a so-called family curse. Look to the Substitute. No curse causeless shall come upon a soul hidden in Christ. What is left to curse when Christ was made a curse for you? Cease from the fatal folly of trifling with sin, and look wholly to Him who brings His people forth with silver and gold. He brought them forth. He brings you forth. This is the hour of deliverance, decreed from eternity, when the clock of mercy strikes. Put your trust in the Lord Jesus alone, and what was once a curse becomes a blessing, to you, to your household, to the least and feeblest of His family.

Do not let your mind be troubled by these things you call family curses, believing that a mere name or the shadow of your ancestors holds power over you. There is no curse that can bind a soul except the curse of sin, and from that bondage Christ alone delivers those who run to Him. You speak of names and pride and infirmities as if they were chains forged by others, but the chain that truly binds is your own sin, and the pride that refuses to bow before the mercy of God.
Consider what the Holy Scriptures show us. The Jews of old boasted, “We are Abraham’s seed; we have never been slaves to anyone.” Yet they were slaves to sin, and that is the only slavery that matters. What did it profit them to claim a holy lineage when their hearts were far from God? Their pride in a name brought them to destruction. And the Lord Jesus did not even trouble Himself to recount their earthly captivities, but pointed them to the deeper prison. So I say to you: do not look back to some imagined curse inherited through blood or family name. Look instead to the condition of your own soul. Have you been set free from sin by the truth of Christ? That is the only deliverance worth seeking.
You mention infirmities. Saint Paul himself, that vessel of election, left Timothy to suffer frequent ailments and a weak stomach, not because he could not heal him, but because these bodily weaknesses were a medicine for his soul. They kept him humble, lest the wonders God worked through him should puff him up. And even the Apostle Paul was given a thorn in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to buffet him, so that he would not become conceited. Will you then call these visitations a curse? They are a gift, a healing draft for the sickness of pride, if you receive them with thanksgiving. When you pray for deliverance, do not pray to have every infirmity stripped away; pray rather for grace to bear them in a manner that pleases God, and for humility, which is the death of pride.
But if you want a curse to dread, consider pride itself. For through pride Satan fell into condemnation, and by pride a novice in the faith, lifted up too swiftly, falls into the same snare. Pride is the poison that ruins every virtue. Did you receive any good thing by your own merit? No, you received it freely; so freely give thanks, and never think yourself greater than another because of family, or name, or supposed spiritual gift. The grace of Christ is a gift, and no one can boast.
The only true deliverance was accomplished when the Lord Jesus gave His body to be broken for the life of the world. He took the curse of the law upon Himself, and by His death He crushed the power of every curse. If you belong to Him, you are blessed; no name spoken over your family, no infirmity of the flesh, can separate you from that love. But take care how you come to the Holy Table. Celebrate the sacrament with thanksgiving, as He did on that night, and there find your freedom. Let your prayer be this: not that some spell of words be broken, but that your own pride be put to death, that your sins be forgiven, and that you may walk humbly with your God. For if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.

No, you received it freely; so freely give thanks, and never think yourself greater than another because of family, or name, or supposed spiritual gift. The only true deliverance was accomplished when the Lord Jesus gave His body to be broken for the life of the world. He took the curse of the law upon Himself, and by His death He crushed the power of every curse. If you belong to Him, you are blessed; no name spoken over your family, no infirmity of the flesh, can separate you from that love. But take care how you come to the Holy Table. Celebrate the sacrament with thanksgiving, as He did on that night, and there find your freedom. Let your prayer be this: not that some spell of words be broken, but that your own pride be put to death, that your sins be forgiven, and that you may walk humbly with your God. For if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.

The weight of family patterns, whether named infirmities, recurring pride, or other struggles, can feel like an inherited curse you cannot shake. Scripture does speak plainly about curses that came through disobedience to God’s covenant. On Mount Ebal the law was read and the people cried “Amen” to every curse, acknowledging the rightness of judgment upon those who broke it. Pride, in particular, is something God says He hates, it goes before destruction. When it runs through a family line, it can bring repeated sorrow.
Yet the Bible also reveals that a curse does not have the final word when a Redeemer steps in. Under the law, if a family was in danger of losing everything, a near kinsman could buy back the land and marry the widow to raise up the family name. That is just a shadow of what Jesus Christ has done. He is the true Kinsman-Redeemer, born into our human family, who took the curse of the law upon Himself. He became a curse for us so that the curse could be broken. The bondage you feel from the past does not have to continue.
If pride is part of the pattern, humbling yourself before God is the first step. Acknowledge that you cannot undo anything by your own effort. The passages remind us that God calls us to return to Him and to His family, not just partway, but completely. Jacob was told to go back to his land and his family, but he stopped short and bought land in a place where trouble soon followed. Incomplete obedience left a door open. So pray for the strength to leave behind any pattern that dishonors God, and cling to the Redeemer who has already paid for it all.
The woman from the servant’s story was found at the well, watering camels, and she turned out to be from the very family the servant was seeking. God was already working to bring a bride from Abraham’s line. In the same way, He is able to bring you into a new family line of faith, not bound by old curses but rooted in Christ’s obedience. The curses cried on Ebal were answered with “Amen” by those under the law, but now in Christ the “Amen” becomes a yes to every promise of God.
Stand on that truth. Renounce pride, repent of any sin that has been passed down through example or influence, and trust the Redeemer who restores what you could never restore yourself. He will be faithful to lift the weight you were never meant to carry.
