Removing generational and all curses from me and my family

Do you not know what the true curse is, and what the true freedom? You cry out to be loosed from chains that others forged, from evils handed down through blood. But tell me, what man can bind your soul because of his own sin? The soul that sins shall die; the son does not bear the iniquity of the father, nor the father the iniquity of the son. This is the voice of the Lord. Yet you speak of generational curses as if Christ had not shattered every bond on the Tree. Are you still in chains? Then look to yourself. The most grievous bondage is not what another did, but what you yourself do, the sins you cherish, the passions you obey. These are the chains that drag souls to judgment, far heavier than any imagined curse from ancestors. For what does it profit a man to be free from some inherited affliction, if he remains a slave to wrath, lust, or love of money? That is to exchange a phantom prison for a real one, and to have a jailor more cruel still: your own hard heart.

Why bring your reasonable soul into bondage to such fears? You have suffered, you say, from the mass of someone else’s evil. That suffering I do not dismiss, it is common to our race. But you are not condemned to repeat it unless you make it your own by imitation. If your fathers worshiped idols or practiced injustice, repent of your own sins, not theirs. The laver of regeneration washed away the ancient guilt. What curse remains that the Blood of the Lamb has not broken? None, except the one you bind upon yourself by refusing to be set free. For that is the true curse: to hear the truth and still walk in darkness, to have the medicine and refuse to drink.

Come then, let us show forth an anxious repentance. The Church holds the keys; Christ has given us authority to loose. And we wish nothing more than to loose you, to see every chain fall away. But know that it is not by incantations or by naming imagined inheritances that one is delivered, but by the confession of sins, by tears, by drawing near to that most awful Table where the Body is broken and the Blood poured out. That sacrament is the true deliverance from bondage, far greater than the Passover of old. If the type set Israel free from Egypt, how much more will the Truth set the world free from sin and every consequence of sin? There, at that altar, the curse is undone; there, the chains are shattered. Do not be ashamed of Christ’s chains, for He was not ashamed of the Cross. If He endured the Cross for you, will you not bear a little shame in confessing your own fault? Let no one disregard the bonds of the Church, for when she binds, it is for healing, and when she looses, it is with divine authority. I pray you, grasp this freedom. Flee from the prison of superstition, and let not the brute matter of earthly fears insult you as a slave. You are a reasonable soul, bought with a price. Stand fast, therefore, and be entangled no longer with any yoke of bondage, whether real or imagined, but serve the living God with your whole household, and the peace that passes understanding shall be your portion.

Your pain is real, and the ache for release is something the Lord does not take lightly. When you speak of generational chains and suffering under someone else’s evil, I hear a heart crying out for the freedom that only Jesus can give. In the old covenant, when the law was read from Mount Ebal, the people listened to the curses that would fall on those who broke God’s commands, and they had to answer, “So be it.” That was the weight of the law. It exposed sin, but it could never heal the sinner. All it could do was announce the curse and show how far short we fall.

Sin, at its root, is missing the mark of what God designed us to be. It is not just a list of wrong acts but a condition that runs deep in our nature. The law was given to make that clear, not to cure it. When the command said, “Do not covet,” it awakened every hidden desire, and suddenly I saw how full of sin I really was. That is why the blood of bulls and goats could only cover sin temporarily; it never washed it away. Year after year, the same offerings were brought because the guilt remained. But all of that pointed forward to a final answer.

The glorious truth is that the blood of Jesus Christ does not just cover sin, it puts it away entirely. He became the curse for us on the cross, so that every curse the law pronounced against our disobedience was exhausted upon Him. If you are in Christ, you are no longer standing under that old list of judgments. The condemnation that belonged to an ancestor’s sin or anyone else’s evil cannot reach you there, because Jesus took it all. The moment you trust in Him, you are transferred out of the kingdom of darkness and into the kingdom of light. The past is not a chain that still holds you; it is a grave that has been emptied.

The real enemy is not some impersonal generational curse but the power of sin itself, which once held you in bondage. And sin shall not have dominion over you, because you are not under law but under grace. That does not mean you will never fail or struggle, but it means the tyrant has been dethroned. The person who is born of God does not practice sin as a way of life; the new nature cannot settle there. You are not what your family tree was. You are a new creation in Christ, and His Spirit now works in you to free you from the very corruption that once ruled.

I would urge you to stop looking over your shoulder at a shadow of inherited penalty and start looking full into the face of your Deliverer. Egypt was a picture of bondage, but God brought His people out with a mighty hand and never told them to fear Pharaoh again. In water baptism, you died with Christ and rose to walk in newness of life. That old slave master has no claim on you. Yield your body, your mind, and your future to God, not as a servant of fear, but as one who is free from righteousness’ opposite, free to obey from the heart.

Do not let the enemy whisper that your suffering is inescapable because of what someone else did long ago. Every soul stands before God on its own, and the blood of Jesus speaks a better word than any ancient curse. Grace overflows where sin once reigned, and that grace is yours right now. Walk in it. The chains are broken, not because of your striving, but because the Son has set you free. You truly are free indeed.

We want to thank you for the privilege of standing with you in prayer as you sought the Lord’s deliverance from generational curses and the heavy chains that have bound your family for too long. It has been our honor to intercede on your behalf, declaring the power of Jesus’ blood to break every yoke and set the captives free. We have prayed in agreement with you, believing that the Lord hears the cries of His children and moves mightily on their behalf.

If the Lord has already moved in your situation—if you sense freedom, if the weight has been lifted, if chains have fallen off—we invite you to share a praise report so we can rejoice with you. Your testimony will encourage others and bring glory to God. If, however, you are still waiting for complete breakthrough, we want to stand with you again. Please post this request anew, and we will continue to lift you up in prayer, trusting that the Lord is working even when we cannot yet see it.

May the Holy Spirit strengthen you as you press into God’s promises. May He reveal any areas where the enemy has tried to maintain a foothold, and may you walk in the fullness of the freedom Christ died to give you. We declare over you and your family that no weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against you in judgment shall be condemned. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.
