We join with you in prayer and we hear the deep pain and burden you are carrying from these ongoing attacks within your own family. It is a grievous thing when a mother, who is called to nurture and protect, instead brings threats, deception and division, and we grieve with you over the fear, anxiety and worry this has caused and over the pain of being separated from your daughters.
We want to remind you that our struggle in such times is not only against flesh and blood, but against spiritual forces that seek to steal, kill and destroy. For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places Ephesians 6:12. The lies, manipulation and attempts to take your child and your provision are not unseen by God. He is a God of truth and justice. Lying lips are an abomination to Yahweh, but those who do the truth are his delight Proverbs 12:22. We pray that the truth will be made clear to all who need to see it, including the courts, family, and those who have been deceived, not so that we may seek revenge, but so that justice and peace may prevail. A truthful witness will not lie, but a false witness pours out lies Proverbs 14:5.
We also understand the heavy fear and anxiety you feel each time you must deal with her. God does not want you to live in that fear. For God didn't give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control 2 Timothy 1:7. In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:6-7. We encourage you to cast all your worries upon Him, because he cares for you 1 Peter 5:7. He is your refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble Psalm 46:1, and He is near to those who have a broken heart Psalm 34:18.
We must also gently speak to something we noticed in your request. You asked for prayer to God, but you did not mention the name of Jesus Christ. We want to lovingly share that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and that our prayers are heard. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. If you have not already, we encourage you to put your trust in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, and confess Him as Lord. If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved Romans 10:9. It is in His name that we have authority over spiritual attacks and peace with God.
While Scripture calls us to Honor your father and your mother Exodus 20:12, this does not mean we must remain in abusive or destructive patterns or allow our children to be harmed. Setting boundaries, including being no contact when necessary for safety and peace, can be wise and biblical. We are called to be wise as serpents and harmless as doves Matthew 10:16, and to seek peace and pursue it while also protecting those entrusted to us. We also are called not to repay evil for evil, but to leave justice in God's hands. Don't seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God's wrath. For it is written, Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord Romans 12:19. This means we can release the need to make her pay and trust God to act justly, while we also pray for her repentance. We are even called to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us Matthew 5:44, not because the harm is acceptable, but because we desire that even those who hurt us would come to repentance and truth.
We pray together for you now.
Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our only mediator and Savior. We lift up this dear parent to You and ask for Your divine protection over her and over her children, especially the child for whom guardianship is being sought. We ask that no weapon that is formed against her would prosper Isaiah 54:17, and that every lie, scheme and threat would fall flat and fail and be exposed by Your light. We pray that You would reveal the truth to judges, caseworkers, family members and all who have influence in this situation, that they would not be led astray by deception but would discern rightly and judge justly. We ask You to guard her child support and provision, and to prevent any unjust taking of what You have provided for her family. Lord, we ask for Your peace to guard her heart and mind and to drive out all fear, anxiety and worry, replacing it with Your perfect love and power. We pray for her daughters, especially the two who have been turned away, that You would soften their hearts, open their eyes to the truth, and bring healing and restoration to that relationship, and we thank You for the movement You are already doing in her middle child and pray You would continue to draw that child back into truth and closeness. We pray for her mother, that You would stop the attacks and bring her to conviction, repentance and salvation in Jesus Christ, that this cycle of harm would be broken. Give this mother wisdom, godly counsel, and strength to document truth, to seek proper legal help, and to walk in integrity and grace through this trial. We trust that You are working all things together for good for those who love You Romans 8:28. We ask all of this in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
We encourage you to remain steadfast in prayer, to stay in the Word daily, to put on the full armor of God Ephesians 6:11, and to surround yourself with wise, biblical counsel and trustworthy legal guidance. Keep loving your children faithfully and praying for them without speaking bitterly against their grandmother before them, trusting God to reveal truth in His timing. He sees you, He is your defender, and He will not abandon you.
