Spiritual Attacks

Beloved of All
I have had a period of disconnect from God and sank into a horrible dark place. I am pulling out of it now thanks to our Lord and his neverending love and patience. I am praying and worshiping more and feeling back on track. I have noticed that I have moments of the dark place and I get worried at silly things that I don't need to even really be concerned about. I can almost feel the devil on my shoulder trying to send me back to that dark place without God. I do pray and rebuke in Jesus name but can I please have prayer over this. In Jesus name Amen

We rejoice with you that you are pulling out of that dark place and we thank our Lord for His never ending love and patience toward you, for He never left you even in your time of disconnect. We understand those moments when the darkness tries to creep back and when worry over small things suddenly feels overwhelming, and we want you to know that what you are sensing is real spiritual warfare and you are right to recognize it and to rebuke it in Jesus name.

Scripture tells us to be sober and self controlled, be watchful, your adversary the devil walks around like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour, withstand him steadfast in your faith 1 Peter 5:8-9. We are also told to put on the whole armor of God that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil, for our wrestling is not against flesh and blood but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world rulers of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places Ephesians 6:11-12. The good news is that as you submit to God and resist the devil he will flee from you, draw near to God and He will draw near to you James 4:7-8.

We also hear your concern about worry and being troubled by things that do not need to concern you. The enemy loves to use anxious thoughts to try to pull us back into darkness and doubt. God calls us to bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ 2 Corinthians 10:5 and to cast all our worries on Him because He cares for us 1 Peter 5:7. We are told in nothing be anxious, but in everything by prayer and petition with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God, and the peace of God which surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:6-7.

We praise God that you are praying and worshiping more and that you are rebuking the enemy in the name of Jesus, for there is power in that name and it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to the Father and victory over darkness. Continue to stand firm in that authority, keep your heart rooted in the Word daily, keep worshiping, and do not walk alone but stay connected in fellowship with other believers who can encourage you and pray with you.

We join together and pray for you now. Father in heaven we lift up our dear brother or sister to You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. We thank You for Your faithful love that never let go even in the dark place, and we thank You that You are near to those who have a broken heart and save those who have a crushed spirit Psalm 34:18. Lord we ask You to strengthen and establish this dear one, surround them with Your peace and fill every moment of worry with the assurance of Your presence. We rebuke the enemy and every spirit of fear, anxiety and heaviness that tries to whisper lies and pull them back into darkness, and we command it to flee in Jesus name. Clothe them in the whole armor of God, guard their mind and heart, and help them to take every thought captive to Christ. Let them know deeply that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing will be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord Romans 8:38-39. Father remind them daily not to fear for You are with them, do not be dismayed for You are their God, You will strengthen them and uphold them with the right hand of Your righteousness Isaiah 41:10. Continue to draw them closer to You as they draw near to You and let Your joy and light drive out every shadow. We ask this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, Amen.

We're so encouraged to hear you are praying and worshiping again and sensing the Lord drawing you out of that dark place. Coming back after a season of distance takes courage, and we thank God with you for the way He has shown His patience and love as you find your footing again.

It makes sense that even while you feel more on track, those leftover moments of worry still surface over small things. After time in a heavy place our minds can stay on high alert for a while, and when you are choosing to walk close to Jesus again it is also real to feel opposition trying to pull you back. Noticing it and turning to Him and rebuking it in Jesus' name as you have been is a steady, good response.

One simple rhythm that helps many people in this in-between season is to keep your daily time with the Lord sustainable, and then have a brief plan for when a worry spikes. You might pause for a short prayer in Jesus' name, lean into a worship song or a truth you know about His care for you, and then gently return to what is in front of you rather than wrestling at length with the thought. It also helps to let one trusted pastor or believing friend know how you are doing week to week, so you are not carrying the ups and downs alone.

Father, thank You for drawing our friend back to Yourself and for Your never ending love. We ask You to guard his heart and mind, quiet the worries that rise up, and keep him close to You each day. Give him wisdom, steady peace, and the encouragement of others walking with him. In Jesus' name, Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

It is a cause for thanksgiving to hear that the Lord in His neverending love and patience has been drawing you back to Himself, and that prayer and worship are again sweet to your soul. To feel after a season of disconnect that you are back on track is itself a mercy, and it is a sure sign that He who began a good work in you has not cast you aside.

You speak of moments when the dark place returns and of silly worries that ought not to trouble you, and of feeling as if the enemy were upon your shoulder. Do not wonder that it should be so. The adversary sifts as he did Peter, yet Christ has prayed for His own that faith fail not. Peter was down, but he was soon up again, and his story is more truly his restoration than his fall. The Lord gave him both the crowing of the cock and a look of love, and that look severed him from the crowd and brought him to repentance. So will the Lord deal with you. He will come and take away the heart of stone and so restore you that it shall be as though He had never cast you aside. Though you say, I have blackened myself so that I fear I can never be white again, His blood can make you white and His Spirit can write His law upon a heart of flesh.

You do well to pray and to rebuke the tempter in the name of Jesus, for we overcome evil not by our own strength but by looking to Christ for all things. He is not a memory of eighteen hundred years ago, He is alive, our familiar Friend, and to Him we may look continually.

Concerning those anxious cares, remember that the very anxiety which arises through your being in a difficulty unfits you to meet that difficulty. Fear is weakening and fear dishonors God, as though the arm which piled the heavens could be palsied. Therefore labor to get rid of fear by trusting the promise. The Lord says, Fear not, for I will help thee, Fear not, thou worm Jacob. It is disobedience to be afraid when Jesus Himself whispers, Fear not. The command is absolute and unqualified, Fear not, be not dismayed. Obey that gracious word, Casting all your care upon Him, for He careth for you. Tell Him about it, not merely telling yourself about it, for if anxiety is confined to yourself no good will come of it.

Let us pray for you now.

O Lord our God, we thank Thee for Thy mercy which has kept this soul and drawn it again to prayer and worship. Thou hast not cast away Thine own. We ask Thee to perfect Thy restoration, to put Thy fear in this heart that it shall not depart from Thee, and to give a new heart and a new spirit. Deliver from the fear that brings a snare and from the bondage that comes through fear. Help this dear soul to cast every care upon Thee, to overcome the evil one by looking unto Jesus, and to stand fast in perfect love which casteth out fear. When the dark moment returns, let the look of Christ be felt, and let faith overcome fear. Keep, comfort, and establish, and let the joy of restoration be full. In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who ever liveth to intercede for us, Amen.
