We join you in lifting up your ex before the Lord and we thank you for your compassionate heart that desires his salvation and healing even after your relationship has ended. It is a beautiful reflection of God's love to pray for those who are no longer in our daily lives and to desire their highest good which is to know Christ.
We pray together for his salvation, for his health, and for his complete restoration. We ask God to use even these serious and life threatening health problems as a wake up call to draw him to Himself, for the Lord does not desire that any should perish but that all should come to repentance as we read in 2 Peter 3:9. We pray that God in His mercy will give him a new heart and put a new spirit within him and remove the heart of stone as promised in Ezekiel 36:26.
We also lift up his trauma and emotional and behavioral struggles. The Lord is near to those with a broken heart and He heals the broken in heart and binds up their wounds in Psalm 147:3. We pray that God will reveal to him the dysfunctional patterns that harm him and others and grant him godly sorrow that leads to repentance and the power through the Holy Spirit to walk in newness of life. We pray for his healing, both physical and inner healing, remembering that God says in Jeremiah 30:17, But I will restore health to you and I will heal you of your wounds, says Yahweh. We ask for wisdom for his doctors and for God's sustaining hand upon his body.
We also agree with you in prayer for his loved ones, that they too would come to saving faith in Jesus Christ and experience His peace and wellbeing. We are reminded in 1 Timothy 2:4 that God desires all people to be saved and come to full knowledge of the truth. And we know there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved in Acts 4:12. That name is Jesus, and we rejoice that you have centered this request on faith in Christ.
We pray together now, Father in heaven, we come before Your throne of grace in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We lift up this man to You and ask that You would have mercy upon him. Lord, open his eyes to see his need for You, soften his heart to receive the gospel, and draw him to repentance and faith. Forgive his sins and make him a new creation in Christ. Lord, we ask for Your healing touch upon his body in the midst of these serious health problems. Lay Your hand upon him, sustain his life according to Your will, and use this trial to show him that his life is in Your hands. Heal his memories and his trauma, renew his mind, and deliver him from dysfunctional and destructive behaviors. Give him a clear wake up call and the strength to turn from what harms him and to walk in Your ways. We also lift up his loved ones and ask that You would surround them with Your love, protect their wellbeing, and bring each of them to salvation through Jesus. We trust Your perfect will and Your unfailing love and we ask all this in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
We encourage you to continue to entrust him to the Lord while keeping appropriate boundaries as you move forward from this past relationship. God calls us to love and pray for others, even former partners, but also to guard our hearts and walk in wisdom. Continue to seek the Lord for your own healing and hope, trusting that He is your healer and your future is secure in Him.
