Ex

We have heard your request and we join together in seeking God's will for you in Jesus' name as you walk through the pain of getting over a former relationship. We understand how deeply a broken bond can affect the heart, and we want to lift you up with compassion and truth.

We noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we gently want to remind you that it is only through Him that we have access to the Father. Jesus said in John 14:6, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And in Acts 4:12 we are told there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. If you have not already, we encourage you to put your trust in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, and confess Him as Lord as Romans 10:9 teaches, that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. It is in His name we pray and find healing.

We also want to speak biblically about relationships. We believe in the sanctity of marriage as a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman, and that any romantic relationship should be approached as courtship with the goal of marriage to another Christian believer, as taught in 2 Corinthians 6:14. If your former relationship involved sexual intimacy outside of marriage, scripture calls that fornication and we encourage you to bring that before the Lord in repentance, for 1 Corinthians 6:18 tells us to flee sexual immorality, and 1 Thessalonians 4:3 says this is the will of God, your sanctification, that you abstain from sexual immorality. God is gracious to forgive when we confess, and He desires to make us whole. Even if that was not part of your situation, God still calls us to guard our hearts and to pursue relationships that honor Him and look toward a godly marriage rather than simply seeking a partner or holding onto the past.

The Lord sees your brokenheartedness and He is near to you. Psalm 34:18 says Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Psalm 147:3 promises He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds. We encourage you to not dwell on what was, for Isaiah 43:18-19 reminds us not to remember the former things, for God is doing a new thing. We know God has a good plan for your future, for Jeremiah 29:11 says I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future. As you surrender this hurt to Him, He will give you peace that surpasses understanding as Philippians 4:6-7 describes, and He will work all things for good for those who love Him according to Romans 8:28.

We pray together for you now. Father, we lift this dear one to You in the name of Jesus Christ. We ask You to heal the broken heart and to bind up every wound left by this former relationship. Wash away any sin with the blood of Jesus and grant repentance and forgiveness where needed. Help our friend to release bitterness, regret, and longing, and to forgive as You have forgiven us. Renew the mind and fill the heart with Your love and presence, so that there is no longer a clinging to what is past. Give strength to flee temptation to look back or to rekindle what is not Your will, and give wisdom to guard the heart. Lead this life toward wholeness in Christ first, and in Your perfect timing, if it is Your will, provide a godly spouse and a marriage that honors You. Teach trust in Your ways as Proverbs 3:5-6 says to trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. We ask for Your peace to guard heart and mind in Christ Jesus, and for hope to rise anew. We pray all this in the mighty name of Jesus, amen.

We encourage you to stay close to the Lord daily through prayer and His Word, to fellowship with other believers who will support you in godly counsel, and to keep your eyes on Christ as your first love. He is faithful to complete the healing He has begun in you.

We are glad you reached out and asked us to pray with you about this. Wanting to totally get over an ex is such an honest prayer, and it makes sense that this feels heavy right now.

A breakup is a real loss, not just of a person but of the expectations and future you imagined together. Grief after that kind of loss is natural, and it looks different for everyone. There is no single timeline, and healing often comes gradually rather than all at once. Be gentle with yourself on the days when memories come back strongly, that does not mean you are failing.

One small step that often helps is giving your heart some consistent space to heal. For many people that means choosing one clear boundary for a season, like muting your ex on social media or asking a trusted friend or pastor to check in with you weekly as you walk through this. Having that kind of steady, caring community around you can make it easier to bring the painful memories to the Lord and let Him meet you in them, rather than carrying them alone.

We are praying for you and standing with you as you heal.

Father, we lift our friend to You and ask for Your comfort and nearness in this grief. Bring healing to the hurt places, steady their heart and thoughts, and give wisdom for each next step. Help them to sense Your presence and Your care day by day. In Jesus' name, amen.

We have carried your request before the Lord and asked Him to do a healing work in your heart.

It is a painful wound to have the affections torn, and we very speedily care for bodily diseases because they urge us to seek a physician, but the wounds of the heart are deeper still. There is, however, an abundance of healing power in Jesus Christ and His salvation. Not only is His fruit sweet and nourishing, but the very leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations, and the least thing about Christ is healing. These healing leaves change the life blood and make the nature other than it was before, and they can make the broken heart fresh again.

We have prayed that you would know pardon and healing together, for when Jesus healed He said, Son, be of good cheer, your sins are forgiven you, and pardon and healing were one. When the Sun of Righteousness rises upon a soul with healing in His wings, there is no need to remain in sorrow. Come with humble confession and look for all in Christ, and He will bind up the wounded spirit. He heals the broken in heart and binds up their wounds, and no length of sickness is beyond this great Physician.

We have also prayed that you may go in peace. As the Saviour said, Your faith has saved you, go in peace, so we ask that you may go home and attend to your ordinary duties, and go through this season resting in the peace of God which passes all understanding. Do not be disturbed and fluttered as you go among others, but let your heart rest in Him.

And we pray that grace will lead you to turn away from that which you have eagerly followed if it is not for your good, and to seek after that which you have disregarded, even holiness and Heaven. When Christ and the world go together you cannot tell which a man is following, but when there is a separation, if you can stay with Christ, then you are His. Do not go back to the old sins or the old entanglements from which the Lord is calling you. By faith go forward, not knowing all the way, but trusting Him who knows the way you take.

May the Lord give you full assurance of His love, heal you thoroughly, and keep you in His peace day by day, that you may find your completeness not in another person but in Christ alone, and be prepared for whatever calling He has for you in His perfect will.
