Ex

We stand with you in this and we thank you for sharing this honest request with us. We rejoice that you have recognized the truth of being unequally yoked and have chosen obedience to God over following your feelings, even though it brings pain. That is a difficult and godly decision.

The Scripture warns us, Don't be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what fellowship has light with darkness? 2 Corinthians 6:14. To be yoked together means to be bound together in purpose and direction, and for marriage this is especially true. Marriage is ordained by God as a lifelong covenant between a man and a woman, and it is meant to reflect Christ and His church. For that reason we encourage courtship only with the goal of marriage to another Christian believer, seeking a godly spouse who will help you walk closer with the Lord, not pull you away from Him. Your desire to honor God in this area is pleasing to Him, even when your heart still aches.

We understand how hard it is to let go of someone you have loved. The Lord sees that hurt and He is near to you. He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds. Psalm 147:3. And we are told, Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it is the wellspring of life. Proverbs 4:23. Part of guarding your heart now will be to release this former relationship fully to God, to avoid lingering in ways that keep the bond alive, and to fill your mind with what is true and pure. In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7.

We also noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to gently remind you that it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and find true healing and salvation. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6. There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12. If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9. It is by trusting in Jesus alone that our prayers are heard and our hearts are made whole.

If there was any physical intimacy outside of marriage in this former relationship, we encourage you to bring that before the Lord as well, for God calls us to flee sexual immorality and to honor Him with our bodies, keeping sexual intimacy within the covenant of marriage alone. His grace forgives and cleanses when we confess and turn from sin.

We pray together for you now.

Father, in the name of Jesus we lift this dear one to You. We thank You for giving wisdom to recognize the danger of being unequally yoked and for the courage to step away in obedience. We ask You to heal the brokenheartedness, to bind up every wound, and to wash away every lingering attachment to this former relationship. Guard this heart and mind with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Help our friend to cast all anxiety on You because You care, and to trust in You with all the heart and not lean on personal understanding. Renew thoughts daily and lead away from dwelling on what cannot be. Where there has been sin, grant repentance and cleansing through the blood of Jesus. Prepare the future You have ordained, and if it is Your will, provide a godly spouse, a fellow believer, for a Christ honoring marriage that will last a lifetime. Give patience in the waiting and joy in walking closely with You now. We ask all this in the precious name of Jesus, our only hope and Savior. Amen.

We encourage you to stay rooted in the Word, in prayer, and in fellowship with other believers who will support your walk. Trust that God has good plans for you and that as you delight in Him, He will give you the desires of your heart according to His perfect will.

Thank you for sharing this so honestly. Letting go of someone you still care for, especially when you know you cannot build a future together, is a particular kind of grief. It makes sense that part of you still aches even while another part knows why you stepped away.

We have found that healing in this season often comes not by trying to force feelings away, but by gently giving them less room to replay. One practical help is to make the separation clearer in daily life. That might mean muting or pausing social media checks, putting away photos and messages for a time, and choosing not to revisit conversations that reopen the wound. It also helps to not walk this alone. Consider asking one trusted pastor, counselor or mature friend to check in with you weekly, someone you can be honest with when the missing feels strong.

God sees the loss you are carrying and He is not rushed with you as you heal.

We pray for you now. Father, we bring our friend to You and ask for Your comfort in this grief. Quiet the ache when it rises and guide thoughts toward Your presence. Give wisdom for each day, strength to keep healthy boundaries, and hope as You shape what comes next. Heal the heart in Your time and lead toward wholeness in Christ. In Jesus name, amen.

Your request has been brought before the Lord and we thank God for the grace that has led you to honor His Word even though it costs you sorrow. To feel the pain of parting and yet to choose obedience is a mark of the Spirit's work in you, and though the wound is deep, the Lord does not despise a broken and contrite heart.

You have judged rightly concerning the yoke. The Scripture says, Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers, and that precept is not a hard bondage but a merciful guard. The yoke of Christ is easy and His burden is light, while an unequal yoke would have proved a heavy and galling burden in days to come, drawing your soul from its true rest and dimming your fellowship with Him. What seems a loss now will be seen as a deliverance, for the Lord denies to those who take His yoke nothing but that which would be injurious to them.

There is abundant healing power in Jesus Christ and His salvation. Not only is His fruit sweet and nourishing, but the very leaves of the tree of life are for the healing of the nations, and the least thing about Christ is healing. He heals the broken in heart and binds up their wounds, and He does it by bringing pardon and healing together. When He dwells with His people, the Sun of Righteousness rises with healing in His wings, and that healing changes the life blood and makes the nature other than it was before. This suffering will not continue after the soul has learned the preciousness of a Saviour's blood, and though you must be humbled in the dust and made to look for all in Christ, you shall be delivered.

We pray for you that the Lord Himself would be your physician and your comfort. May He wash you in the blood of Christ and give you the forgiveness that brings healing, may He take you by the hand and lift you up, and may the healing virtue of His grace work in you till this wound is cured. May He keep your heart from returning to what would poison it, guard your thoughts, fill your affections with Himself, and give you strength to walk in the path of obedience with joy. And if it be His will, may He in His own time provide a help meet for you in the Lord, a fellow partaker of the same yoke, to walk beside you in faith.

We will continue to remember you before the throne, asking that Christ, who is all your salvation, may be all your healing and your peace. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

I recently broke up with an ex-boyfriend due to the relationship being out of God's will and us being very unequally yoked but for certain reasons, the end of the relationship (and it seems the end of our friendship along with it as well) is really difficult. Please pray for me. Thank you.
