Good and Faithful Servant
I recently broke up with an ex-boyfriend because we are very unequally yoked and the relationship never should have begun in the first place - I knew from the beginning it was outside of God's will but I was lonely and being disobedient and fleshly and became involved with him. In the aftermath of the breakup and due to certain factors, this ex-boyfriend blocked me on certain social media and stopped responding to any of my messages (he would read them but not respond). I eventually sent him a message saying I would no longer be reaching out so I would stop disturbing him especially amid health problems he's having. It has now been over a week since the last time he spoke to me and although for certain reasons, I really don't want to speak to him either (looking back, there were signs that he was emotionally and psychologically abusive), I also can't believe that he is never going to speak to me again after everything we have been through together and after we were friends before dating (at least, I thought we were friends). Please pray for me about all this. It may be for the best that we never speak again but still...Pray for his salvation and overall health (mentally, physically, spiritually) and that of his loved ones. Thank you.

We hear your heart in this and we thank you for your honesty and humility in sharing this with us. We commend you for ending a relationship that you knew was outside of God's will. It takes courage to obey when loneliness and fleshly desires pull strongly the other way, and we rejoice that you have taken this step of obedience.

Scripture is clear when it says Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship has righteousness and iniquity? Or what fellowship has light with darkness? 2 Cor 6:14. A boyfriend and girlfriend relationship should be understood as courtship with the goal of marriage to another Christian believer, and marriage itself is a lifelong covenant between a man and a woman that honors God. To enter into a romantic relationship with someone who does not share faith in Christ is to step outside that design, and it often leads to the very pain and confusion you are now experiencing. We also want to gently address what you described as being disobedient and fleshly and becoming involved with him. If that involvement included sexual intimacy outside of marriage, scripture calls that fornication and we are told to flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. 1 Cor 6:18. We say this not to condemn you but to call you to the freedom of repentance, for If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9. God has already made a way for forgiveness and cleansing when we turn from sin and turn to Him.

We also notice that you spoke of God's will but did not mention the name of Jesus Christ in your request, and we want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6 and There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12. If you have not already, we encourage you to place your full trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, for that is the only foundation for forgiveness, for answered prayer, and for walking in God's will going forward.

It is understandable that you feel torn about the silence and the blocking, especially after you were friends before dating and have been through much together. At the same time, we see God's mercy even in this painful cutoff. You mentioned signs that he was emotionally and psychologically abusive, and you made a wise and respectful choice to tell him you would no longer reach out so as not to disturb him amid his health problems. We believe it is for the best that you honor that boundary and do not reach out again. The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Psalm 34:18 and He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds. Psalm 147:3. God can use this separation to protect you, to bring healing, and to teach you to guard your heart. We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28, even when the loss still stings.

We join you in praying for his salvation and for his overall health physically, mentally and spiritually, and for his loved ones as well. Only God can transform a heart and bring true healing.

We pray together, Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, and we lift up our sister to You. We thank You for her repentant heart and for her willingness to obey You by ending this unequally yoked relationship. We ask You to forgive her for any disobedience and for any sexual sin, to cleanse her and to restore her to the joy of fellowship with You. Heal her broken heart, bind up her wounds, and fill the loneliness she has felt with Your presence and Your peace. Give her wisdom to keep healthy boundaries and not to look back or reopen contact that would harm her, and help her to find comfort in a strong community of believers and in godly counsel. We pray for this young man, that You would have mercy on him, open his eyes to the truth of the gospel, draw him to salvation through Jesus Christ, and bring healing to his body, mind and spirit according to Your will. We pray for his loved ones as well, that You would touch their lives. Lead our sister in the days ahead to wait on You, to seek You first, and in Your timing to prepare her for a godly marriage to a faithful Christian believer if it is Your will, a marriage that honors You all the days of her life. We ask all this in the precious name of Jesus Christ, amen.

We encourage you to remain steadfast in prayer and in the Word, to stay planted in a Bible believing church, and to allow God to make you whole before you consider any future courtship. Wait for the Lord. Be strong, and let your heart take courage. Yes, wait for the Lord. Psalm 27:14. God is able to redeem this season and to lead you into relationships that align with His good and perfect will.

We hear how disorienting this is for you. To know ending things was right and still feel the ache of silence after so much shared history, especially when a friendship came before the dating, makes sense that you would feel both relief and grief at once.

We are grateful you were honest with yourself about why the relationship began and why it needed to end, and that you have taken a clear step by telling him you would stop reaching out. That kind of clear line, even when it hurts, is a way to protect your heart and give yourself space to heal. It protects your freedom to make choices that align with what you value, rather than staying pulled into a cycle of checking messages and waiting for a response that does not come. When there have been signs of emotional harm, distance is not unkind, it is necessary care for yourself.

In these first weeks the quiet can feel especially lonely. It helps to let the grief have its place without reopening contact to soothe it. Staying with the boundary you set, removing the places you might be tempted to check on him, and leaning into steady community, whether a trusted friend, small group, or pastor who knows you, can give the support loneliness once tried to fill.

Father, we lift this sister to You in Jesus' name. Comfort her in this grief, give her wisdom and peace as she keeps healthy boundaries, and draw her close to You each day. We also ask for Your mercy on this young man and his loved ones, for their health and for the work of Your grace in his life to bring him to know You. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

God, please forever honor this prayer over each of our lives. God Thank You. Amen, so be it by faith, and by faith, it is so. Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

There is much tenderness and honesty in what you have shared, and we have heard it with prayerful care. You have confessed with a humble spirit that you entered a path you knew to be outside the will of God, moved by loneliness and the desires of the flesh, and you have now turned from it. That confession is itself a mercy, for where sin is owned, grace is ready to heal. Do not despise the sorrow that follows, but bring it to the Lord who pardons and heals in one hand.

You speak of a deep loneliness now, the ache of silence after much shared history, and the wonder that one who was once a friend can now seem so far off. Our Lord knows this loneliness to its full. He was left alone just when, as Man, He most needed human sympathy. He took His disciples into the garden, yet even they could not watch with Him one hour, and in His agony He was alone. If any can understand the sting of being forsaken and forgotten by those near to us, it is Christ. He is not distant from your grief. He draws near to the lonely and lets them find fellowship with Himself that no other friend can give. In His presence you are not forgotten, even when another has closed the door.

You have judged rightly concerning the yoke. Scripture says, Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers, and you found that word to be true by painful experience. The yoke of Christ at first may seem hard because it denies us what our nature craves, yet our nature often craves what would be poison to us. To refuse His yoke is not to find freedom, but to find a heavier yoke afterward. You thought to avoid one loss, and found greater losses in seeking to avoid it. Now you have taken the better way, to bear the easy yoke of Christ, and He will teach you the knack of carrying it, so that what now feels heavy will become light as you walk with Him. To say you will no longer disturb one who has withdrawn, and to keep that quiet boundary, is wise and seemly, especially when there have been signs of a harsh and wounding spirit toward you. The Lord does not call you to pursue what harms your soul. It may indeed be for your good, and for his, that you speak no more, and that grief, though real, can be left in the hands of a faithful God.

We rejoice to pray as you have asked, not that God would bless what was outside His will, nor that He would restore a relationship that was not built upon faith in Christ and upon His design for marriage as a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, but that He would do the far greater work of healing and salvation.

We will pray for you, that the Lord would heal your wounds. He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds, and His healing and His pardon come together. When Jesus healed the sick of the palsy He first said, Thy sins be forgiven thee, and then He made him whole. So seek first the full assurance of forgiveness through the blood of Christ, and healing will follow in its season. There is an abundance of healing power in Jesus. Not only is His fruit sweet and nourishing, but the very leaves of the tree of life are for the healing of the nations. The least thing about Christ has virtue in it to change the lifeblood and make the nature new. Bring your loneliness, your remorse, your memories, and your bodily weariness to Him, and let those healing leaves do their work day by day through His Word, through prayer, and through the fellowship of His people.

And we will pray for this man and for those dear to him, as you have asked, that God would have mercy upon him in his health of body and mind, and above all in his soul. We ask that the Lord would open his eyes to see his need of a Saviour, that he would hear the Word of God and not merely sit by, but come to Christ for salvation through Jesus Christ alone, for there is no other name by which we must be saved. We ask that God would bring him to repentance and faith, and give him wholeness according to His perfect will, and that He would keep his loved ones also under His gracious care.

May the Lord keep you in this resolution to walk in obedience, to seek purity of life, and to find your company and comfort in Christ and in His church. Do not hasten to fill loneliness with another voice, but let Christ fill it. If sorrow returns in waves, remember that your Saviour has been there before you and now lives to intercede for you.

Our prayer together is this: O Lord, forgive Thy servant for Jesus sake, cleanse what has been stained, and heal what has been wounded. Let her know that she is pardoned and beloved in Christ. Give her quietness of spirit, strength to keep needful boundaries, and joy in Thy yoke which is easy and Thy burden which is light. And in Thy great mercy, look upon this man of whom she speaks, lay Thy hand upon his body and mind for good, but above all save his soul, bring him from darkness to light, from death to life, through faith in Thy Son. Do this for his household also, as Thou seest fit, for Thy glory alone. Amen.
