Beloved of All
😓 Dreams While Sleeping, Job 33:12-17; Joel 2:28, Numb 12:6, Acts 16:9-10, from Holy Spirit... Father, we come as little children in faith, contrary to all we see and hear, and thank You, "You are able to save forever those who come to God through Christ, because He lives to make intercession for us," Heb 7:25, c.f. Rom 8:34. Again, as little children, "we know You can do all things,"Job 42:2, That "nothing shall be impossible with God," Luke 1:27, "The things impossible with man are possible with God," Mark 10:27. We ask, with this husband for his wife, You give her a dream, as it is written in Job 33:14, "For GOD DOES SPEAK — now one way, now another — though no one perceives it. 15 IN A DREAM, in a VISION IN THE NIGHT, when DEEP SLEEP falls on people, as they slumber in their beds, 16 He may speak in their ears and TERRIFY them with WARNINGS, 17 to TURN THEM BACK from wrongdoing and KEEP THEM from pride, 18 to PRESERVE them from the pit, their lives from PERISHING by the sword."

Again, as our father, Abraham, we are fully persuaded You are able to fulfill what You promise, Rom 4:21 as written in Joel 2:28, ā€œAnd afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old will dream dreams, your youth will see visions. 29 Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days," Joel 2:28-29. Father, with humble confidence, give her, them, us dreams and visions underlining your will for us in Christ Jesus, as You have done from ancient times on those saved Matt 1:20, Matt 2:12, and unsaved alike, Gen 20:3, Gen 31:24, Dan 2:1, Dan 4:5, until present and You will continue to though the future, Heb 13:8. Your arm is not too short, Num 11:23, especially to save, Isa 50:2, Isa 59:1. Thank You in in advance, Mark 11:24, Heb 11:6, Jesus' Name.

We join you in awe of our Heavenly Father’s power and faithfulness, who indeed speaks in many ways, through dreams, visions, and His Word, to guide, warn, and preserve His children. The Scriptures you’ve shared reveal God’s heart to communicate with His people, even in the stillness of the night, to turn hearts from sin and lead them into His perfect will. We are reminded that our God is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8), and His ability to speak through dreams is not limited by time or circumstance.

Father, we come before You with humility and expectation, trusting in Your promise that You will pour out Your Spirit on all people, granting dreams and visions to reveal Your purposes (Joel 2:28). For this husband and his wife, we ask that You would indeed speak to her in a dream, as You did for Joseph, the wise men, and countless others throughout Scripture. May she receive clear direction, warning, or comfort from You, just as You preserved Your servants in times past. Let her heart be tender and attentive to Your voice, and may she respond in obedience to Your leading.

We also lift up this husband, who stands in faith on behalf of his wife. Strengthen his trust in You, Lord, and let his prayers be a sweet fragrance before Your throne. May he continue to intercede with boldness, knowing that You hear the cries of Your children and delight in answering them according to Your will.

However, we must also address a critical truth: dreams and visions, while powerful, must always be tested against the unchanging Word of God. The enemy can disguise himself as an angel of light (2 Corinthians 11:14), and not every spiritual experience is from the Lord. We encourage this couple to measure every dream against Scripture, seeking wise counsel from mature believers and praying for discernment. The Holy Spirit will never contradict God’s Word, and any dream that leads away from Christ or His commands must be rejected.

Father, we pray for protection over this wife’s mind and spirit as she sleeps. Guard her from deception, fear, or confusion, and let every dream she receives align with Your truth. May she wake with clarity, peace, and a deeper hunger for Your presence. We also ask that You would stir in her heart a desire to seek You first in all things, for You promise that those who seek You will find You (Jeremiah 29:13).

Lord, we thank You for the gift of the Holy Spirit, who leads us into all truth (John 16:13). May this couple walk in step with Him, listening for Your voice not only in dreams but in the still, small whisper of Your Word and the prompting of Your Spirit in their daily lives. Help them to cultivate a lifestyle of prayer, worship, and obedience, so that they may recognize Your voice above all others.

We declare over them the promise of Proverbs 3:5-6: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." May they walk in the fullness of Your will, guided by Your Spirit and anchored in Your Word.

In the mighty name of Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of our faith, we pray. Amen.

We have been moved by the childlike faith in your prayer for your wife. You are coming to the Father with such trust that He hears and that He is able, and we want to stand with you in that same trust.

We love your desire to see God graciously get her attention and draw her closer to Himself. We know how much you love her and how earnestly you want God's best for her and for your marriage.

We will keep praying with you that the Lord makes His will clear to her in the way He knows is best, whether through a dream in the night, through His Word, or through the quiet work of His Spirit in her heart. One simple step that often helps in this waiting is to keep your own prayers steady and your conversation with her gentle and unpressured, letting her know you are praying for her because you love her, not to convince her of an experience, and giving God room to work in His timing.

Father, we thank You that You hear this husband's heart for his wife. We ask You to draw near to both of them, to guard their hearts, to give wisdom and peace, and to make Your loving will known in Your perfect way and time. Keep them in Your care and help them to walk closely with You. In Jesus' name, amen.

We have heard your earnest pleading as a husband for your wife, and we join with you in coming as little children before our Father who is able to save forever those who come to God through Christ, because He lives to make intercession for us.

You have rightly remembered that with God nothing shall be impossible, and that the things impossible with man are possible with Him. He is able to do all things, and His arm is not shortened that it cannot save. We thank Him that salvation is through Jesus Christ alone, and that marriage is His gracious institution, a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, wherein we are called to live in holiness and fidelity.

You ask that the Lord would speak to your wife even in a dream in the night, to turn her back from wrongdoing and keep her from pride, to preserve her from the pit. The Scripture you cite is true, that God did speak in old times in dreams and visions, as to Abimelech and to Pilate's wife, and we do not deny that God may use even such means to accomplish His beneficent purposes and to get at the conscience by thoughts which come unbidden and abide upon the soul. Many besides Pilate have been warned by dreams.

Yet we would lovingly remind you what has been taught among us, that ordinarily dreams are the carnival of thought, a maze of mental states, a dance of disorder, and we are not to build our hope upon them. The surer and more abiding way by which God brings sinners to Himself is by His Word and by His Spirit. True repentance is not to be drawn up from the depths of our own heart as water from a well, but is to be asked of Christ to work in us by His Holy Spirit through belief of the truth of God as it is recorded in the Word.

Therefore our prayer for you and for your wife is not only for a vision in the night, but for that repentance unto life which is the gift of God and the true sign of eternal salvation in Christ. Beware of a superficial repentance, for the Lord abhors it. God is not mocked. A repentance which only trembles for a moment and then goes back to sin again is not the repentance which saves. True repentance is a hatred of sin, a turning from sin and a determination in the strength of God to forsake it. It gives God glory, it owns His justice and His mercy, and it sets the sinner ever afterwards craving after holiness, for the burnt child dreads the fire.

Repentance lives as long as faith. It is not an operation to be gotten through at the commencement and then forgotten, but the daily and hourly duty of one who believes in Christ. As we walk by faith from the wicket gate to the celestial city, our right hand companion all the journey through must be repentance. The goodness of God leads to repentance, and where there is real sorrow for sin and an honest determination by His grace to cease from it, that repentance has been produced by the Spirit of God.

So we pray with you, Father, in the name of Jesus our only Mediator, work in this dear wife, and in this husband, and in us all, that repentance which glorifies You. Grant a broken and a contrite heart which You will not despise. Let Your Holy Spirit take the Word of truth and wound the heart with the sword of the Spirit, that sin may be hated because it slew Christ, and holiness may be loved because Christ loves it. If it please You to speak in the night watches, do so according to Your wisdom, but above all speak by Your Word in the ear of the soul, and terrify with holy warning and allure with holy mercy, that she may be turned from wrongdoing and preserved from perishing.

We ask this not because we are worthy, but because Christ ever lives to intercede, and we ask that His blood may be the propitiation for sin and His righteousness our hope. Establish this marriage in faithfulness according to Your holy will, and keep you both in the way of life. Amen.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your prayer offered as little children has been heard, and your trust that God is able to do all things and that nothing is impossible with Him is right and good. It is true as you have said that He lives to make intercession for those who come to God through Christ, and that He is able to save forever.

The Scriptures do show that God has spoken in dreams in the night. He spoke to Joseph in a dream when Joseph in his mildness and gentleness did not wish to expose Mary but considered quietly what to do, and the angel made clear the way he should take. He also spoke in a dream to Pilate's wife, who suffered many things in the night and warned her husband, so that the testimony to Christ as a just man would be clear to all. And we are told that in deep sleep God may speak in ears and terrify with warnings to turn people back from wrongdoing and keep them from pride, to preserve them from the pit.

Yet we must also remember what has been taught, that this present life itself is like a sleep and its things are like dreams. As dreams when day comes are proved to be nothing, so many things that seem great in this life are shown to be empty when the true day dawns. A person may grow rich in a dream, but when he awakes he finds nothing in his hands. For this reason we do not chase every dream, but we test all things by the sure word of Scripture, and we look above all to Christ and His gospel.

Therefore we pray with you not only for a dream, if it pleases God to give one, but for what the dream is meant to accomplish, a turning back from wrongdoing, a keeping from pride, and a preservation from destruction. For the husband, this means to follow the pattern given, that the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the Church, not for harshness but for forethought, protection, and saving health of the body, as Joseph took the young child and His mother and obeyed. For the wife, this means to walk in honesty before the Lord, as the woman at the well who said truly what her life had been and then perceived that Jesus is the Prophet who knows all things. In marriage, each is to honor the other, for the wife does not have power over her own body alone, nor the husband alone, and both are called to faithfulness within the lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, which God has ordained.

So we ask the Father in Jesus name that He would pour out His Spirit and make His will clear to you both through His word first of all, and also if He wills, through a dream in the night that leads to repentance and humility. We ask that He would keep you from the pit, that He would sanctify your home, for the believing husband and wife are set apart in the Lord, and that He would strengthen you to do His will in Christ Jesus. We ask that He would give you both a tender conscience to hear His warnings, courage to turn from all that is wrong, and faith to rest in Christ alone for salvation, whose arm is not too short to save.

May the Lord grant you to seek Him with humble confidence, to trust His promises, and to walk together in purity, love, and submission to Him, until He brings you into the true waking day where dreams are no more and only His truth remains.

Your prayer comes with a beautiful childlike trust that honors God, and it is right to come to Him this way, believing that He is able to do all things and that nothing is impossible with Him. Scripture reminds us that Jesus lives to make intercession for those who come to God through Him, and that God is fully able to do what He has promised.

You have asked that God would speak to your wife in a dream, and the Bible does show that God has spoken to people in this way. In both the Old and New Testaments we see Him speaking through dreams while people slept and through visions while they were awake. A dream and a vision are similar, one comes in sleep and the other while a person is awake and aware, but in both cases God can give a picture that carries spiritual meaning. Often those pictures are symbolic and need interpretation, which comes from God alone. We see this with Joseph when he was given understanding for the dreams of the butler and baker and later for Pharaoh, and with Daniel when the secret of the king's troubling night dream was revealed after prayer, and Daniel was careful to give God the glory for making it known. We also see it in the way God warned people like Abimelech, or guided Joseph the husband of Mary, and in the experience of Jacob who saw in a dream the way of access between heaven and earth.

The passage you quoted in Job describes one purpose for such speaking, that God may speak in the night to warn a person, to turn them back from wrongdoing, to keep them from pride, and to preserve their life from the pit. That is a gracious purpose, and it is right to pray that God would in His mercy turn a heart, humble pride, and keep a life from destruction. The prophet Joel also spoke of a day when God would pour out His Spirit and people would dream dreams and see visions, pointing to God's freedom and power to communicate His will.

At the same time, not every dream we have is a spiritual dream from God. Many dreams are simply the natural workings of the mind in sleep. We can be open to the Lord speaking in a dream or a vision if He chooses, and find it a wonderful thing when He does, but we also test what we receive and hold most firmly to what He has already said clearly in His Word, which is His sure voice to us.

So we join you in praying with humble confidence, as you have prayed, that the Lord whose arm is not too short to save would work in your wife's heart according to His perfect wisdom and will in Christ Jesus. We ask that He would speak to her in whatever way He knows is best, whether through a dream in the night, through His Word, through the conviction of His Spirit, or through His providence, to draw her to Himself, to turn her from any wrong path, to guard her from pride, and to preserve her. We pray that He would give both of you clarity about His will and grace to follow it.

We thank God in advance, trusting His character and His promise that He hears those who seek Him in faith through Jesus, and that He is the same yesterday, today and forever. May He strengthen you as a husband to continue in faithful, patient prayer and love, to walk closely with Him, to stay rooted in Scripture, and to trust Him with your wife's heart. We are asking the Lord to do what only He can do, to save and to keep, and to be glorified in your home. In Jesus' name, amen.
