Destroy those destroying me

We hear the pain and anger in your cry for justice, and we stand with you in seeking God’s righteous intervention. The desire for those who harm us to face consequences is natural, but Scripture calls us to a higher path, one of love, forgiveness, and trust in God’s perfect justice. The Lord declares in Deuteronomy 32:35, "Vengeance is mine, and recompense; at the time when their foot slides; for the day of their calamity is at hand, the things that are to come on them shall make haste." While it is right to ask God to stop evil, we must guard our hearts against bitterness or a spirit of retaliation, for Romans 12:19 warns, "Don’t seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God’s wrath. For it is written, ‘Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord.’"

We also lift up your own heart before the Father, asking Him to heal the wounds left by those who have wronged you. Psalm 37:5-6 encourages us, "Commit your way to the Lord. Trust also in him, and he will do this: he will make your righteousness go out as the light, and your justice as the noon day sun." God sees your suffering and will not leave you without vindication, but He calls you to walk in faith, not fear.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this dear one who has been deeply hurt by the actions of others. Lord, You are the God who sees and knows all things, and we ask that You would intervene in this situation according to Your perfect will. Protect this child of Yours from further harm, and grant them the strength to endure with faith and patience. We ask that You would soften the hearts of those causing destruction, either to turn them from their ways or to remove their influence, as You see fit.

Father, we also pray for this beloved one’s heart. Guard them from bitterness, anger, or a desire for revenge. Fill them instead with Your peace, Your love, and the assurance that You are their Defender. Help them to trust in Your timing and Your justice, knowing that You will never abandon them. Heal their wounds, restore what has been broken, and use this trial for their good and Your glory.

We pray all of this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the One who bore our sins and our sorrows, and who alone has the power to redeem every situation. May Your will be done, and may Your name be exalted in all things. Amen.

We encourage you to meditate on Psalm 18:1-3, which declares, "I love you, Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge; my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower. I call on the Lord, who is worthy to be praised; and I am saved from my enemies." God is your refuge, and He will not fail you. Keep your eyes on Him, and allow His Word to renew your mind and strengthen your spirit. If you have not already, consider seeking godly counsel from a pastor or mature believer who can walk alongside you in this season. You are not alone.

It is not hard to see how much hurt sits behind these words. When life feels crushed by others, a cry for destruction can rise before anything else, and God is big enough to receive even that. We are with you in this, not lecturing but simply carrying your anguish to the Lord alongside you.

We will pray that God protects you, exposes whatever is truly harming you, and works justice in the situation. However God chooses to deal with those who have caused you pain, we trust Him to do what is right and ultimately redemptive. But for now, we focus on you: your safety, your peace, your steadying. Sometimes it helps to pour out the whole messy torrent of feelings in prayer, raw as they are, and then, quietly, hand the outcome to God. You might also invite a trusted pastor or a wise friend to pray with you in person; it is good not to carry this alone.

Please pray with us:

Lord Jesus, You see the weight this person is carrying. Surround them with Your protection and give them a deep sense that they are not forgotten. Bring truth into the light, stop any harm being done, and move with Your perfect justice. Calm their heart, quiet their fears, and grant them wisdom for each next step. We trust You to handle what we cannot. In Your name, Amen.

The cry of your heart reaches to the throne, and it is no small thing to be pressed by adversaries who seem bent upon your ruin. Yet consider well what the Psalmist learned in his own deep affliction: "The Lord has chastened me sorely." The enemy may strike with malice, but the hand that permits the blow is a Father's hand, working in love to your soul. That which you receive from the rod of the Lord bears the blessed aspect of chastening, not the aimless wounding of fate. If the evil comes apart from divine permission, where are we? How can a trial be met which is independent of divine rule and outside the sacred zone of providential government? It is hopeful when we find that all our ills lie within the fence of omnipotent overruling.

From the time when Satan fell, God's purpose has been to break down everything which sets itself up in opposition to Him. He will dry up the green tree, and the death warrant is gone out from God against everything that is of the creature. Yet see the glorious conjunction in the proclamation of our Lord: the day of vengeance and the day of deliverance are one in Christ Jesus. There was a day of vengeance when all the waves and billows of divine wrath went over His innocent head. If that day took place when our Lord died, then the ultimate vengeance for His people is over. He has delivered us from the power of darkness, from the guilt and tyranny of sin, translating us into the kingdom of His dear Son. This deliverance is solely by the power of God; it is not of him that wills, nor of him that runs, but of God that shows mercy.

Therefore, instead of fixing your eye upon the instruments of your trouble, look higher. Pray not only for deliverance from them, but for deliverance from the bitter root within that such trials often expose. Ask that your own heart be kept from hardheartedness, that you may be saved from yourself and from all the attacks of old sins. Seek to know the Lord Jesus, for knowledge of God is a divine armor by which we are able to ward off all the blows of the enemy. Store your mind with His knowledge and His glory. God has given commandment to save you, and you shall be saved, saved from the devil, saved from evil company, saved from the temptation to take a back door of unbelief or revenge. The believer's conduct after deliverance is, "I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord."

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

You ask for the destruction of those who afflict you, yet consider what gain comes from bearing their spiteful acts with meekness: deliverance from sins, fortitude, patience, and a heart free from anger. The one who knows not how to hate does not grieve in vain, but enjoys ten thousand blessings. We punish ourselves by hating others, even as we benefit ourselves by loving them.

Why build your hope upon the sand by seeking their ruin? Build upon the rock, for whatever may happen, that building remains impregnable. The fires and earthquakes of this life cannot destroy it. The enemies you see are not merely flesh and blood; all unbelievers and the demons themselves are already destined to be put under Christ's feet. He sat down at God's right hand, expecting until His enemies become His footstool. By one offering, He has perfected forever those who are sanctified.

The same fire that will devour the adversaries awaits all who do what is against virtue. If we sin willfully after knowing the truth, there remains no more sacrifice, but a fearful expectation of judgment. Yet for those who endure and trust, the Lord’s power destroys the very source of evil at its root. The leader of all evils being overthrown, the rest of the body lies still. Even the wisdom of this world, the cunning of those who trouble you, God will destroy, as it is written: “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise.”

Therefore, do not let lusts of deceit corrupt your soul. The mask of these trials seems bright with vengeance, but underneath is bitterness and a cheat. True deliverance has come: Christ has redeemed us from the curse and given us adoption as sons. Put on Christ, who is the Son, and receive the Spirit of adoption. Then you will see that this host of enemies is overcome not by your wrath, but by the divine will. Bear meekly, for this is how you conquer.

I hear the raw anguish in your request, the cry for deliverance when it feels like others are set on tearing you down. That deep ache finds its voice in many of the psalms, pouring out the heart before God, even crying out morning, noon, and night. He hears. He draws near to the broken. And Scripture tells us plainly that God is for us, not against us. So bring that pain honestly before Him; He is not offended by your honest plea.

But as you bring it, listen carefully: the same Scriptures that cry for help also call us away from devising our own vengeance. The Lord has said clearly that vengeance belongs to Him. He will repay. There is a day of righteous judgment coming, when every wrong will be set right by a holy God who does not ignore sin. Yet His patience and long-suffering are deep, He does not rush to bring swift justice as we often wish, because He also desires that people turn from their path of destruction. So in your praying, ask the Spirit to keep your heart from clutching bitterness or demanding destruction for those who harm you. Instead, plead for mercy upon yourself, and entrust them to the Judge who sees all.

Pour out your heart like water before the face of the Lord. Tell Him the trouble you suffer. He knows how to deliver the godly out of trials, even when human help proves empty. Through Him we will do valiantly; He it is who treads down every adversary in His time. But remember, the cross has already marked you as one sheltered from the ultimate judgment. Your safety is not in how thoroughly your enemies are defeated now, but in the blood that speaks mercy over you. So cry out for His help and rely on His mercy, not your own sense of what justice should look like.

The world clamors for immediate recompense, but the peace you need does not grow in the soil of getting even. Those who walk crooked paths will not know peace, but you are called to keep justice and do judgment by leaving their fate to God. He will one day make all things right. In the meantime, lift up your voice for His intervention, for the strength to stand against the flood of evil, and for a heart that can even pray for those who mistreat you, not affirming their sin, but releasing them to the only One who can change a heart or execute true justice. May the mercy of God quiet your soul and bring you His peace in the midst of this battle.
