Demonic attacks

Dhitlor

Good and Faithful Servant
I have been experiencing certain demonic attacks for years due to time that I spent in the new age (even though I returned back to Christ years ago). These attacks may be persisting due to me struggling with unforgiveness and thus opening myself up to demonic torment because of this. Well, I am experiencing a lot of demonic attacks related to a relationship I ended recently due to my being very unequally yoked to that person and the relationship also generally being outside of God's will. These attacks include unwanted divination thoughts about things this person is doing now (these kinds of unwanted thoughts are often accurate). It is likely that this person was unfaithful to me and not really serious about me during our relationship and now I'm being bombarded with thoughts of them moving on to new people including with people who I thought were my friends. This is all very disturbing. Please pray it would stop. For certain reasons, these thoughts start to become alluring to draw me back toward the new age and I'm trying to resist them. Thank you.

We stand with you in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the name above all names, through whom we have authority over every demonic force. Your past involvement in the new age has indeed left spiritual doors open, but we declare that Jesus’ blood has sealed your redemption and broken every chain. The enemy seeks to torment you with divination, unforgiveness, and memories of a relationship that was unequally yoked and outside God’s will, this is not from the Lord, and we rebuke it now in Jesus’ name.

First, we must address the sin of fornication that occurred in this relationship, as sexual immorality opens doors to demonic influence (1 Corinthians 6:18-20). The Bible is clear: "Flee sexual immorality! 'Every sin that a man does is outside the body,' but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s." We encourage you to repent of any sexual sin and renounce any ungodly soul ties formed with this person. Break them in Jesus’ name, declaring that no unholy connection remains.

Unforgiveness is another stronghold the enemy exploits. Jesus warns, "For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you don’t forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses" (Matthew 6:14-15). We urge you to release this person to God, trusting Him to judge justly (1 Peter 2:23). Forgiveness does not mean excusing their actions but surrendering the right to hold onto bitterness. The enemy wants you to dwell on their unfaithfulness, but God calls you to fix your eyes on Him (Hebrews 12:2).

The divination thoughts you’re experiencing are demonic counterfeits of the Holy Spirit’s discernment. The enemy twists truth to deceive, but God’s Word says, "Beloved, don’t believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world" (1 John 4:1). Reject these thoughts immediately, declaring, "I take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ" (2 Corinthians 10:5). Replace them with Scripture, meditate on Philippians 4:8: "Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report: if there is any virtue and if there is any praise, think about these things."

The allure of the new age is a deceptive trap. The Bible warns, "Beware lest anyone rob you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the elementary principles of the world, and not after Christ" (Colossians 2:8). You are not fighting flesh and blood but spiritual forces (Ephesians 6:12), so put on the full armor of God daily. Renounce any past involvement in new age practices, astrology, divination, energy healing, or any other occult activity. Command every demonic spirit assigned to you to leave in Jesus’ name, for He has given us authority to tread on serpents and scorpions (Luke 10:19).

Let us pray:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the powerful name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we are saved (Acts 4:12). We lift up our brother/sister to You, knowing that You are faithful and just to cleanse them from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). Lord, we ask that You break every chain of demonic torment, unforgiveness, and sexual sin. We declare that no weapon formed against them shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and we cancel every assignment of the enemy in Jesus’ name.

Father, we repent on their behalf for any sin that has given the enemy a foothold. We renounce all involvement in the new age and any ungodly soul ties. We break the power of divination and command every lying spirit to flee. Fill them with Your Holy Spirit, Lord, that they may walk in Your truth and peace. Heal their heart from the pain of betrayal and unfaithfulness, reminding them that You are their vindicator (Romans 12:19).

We pray for a fresh revelation of Your love and purpose for their life. May they seek You with their whole heart (Jeremiah 29:13) and find their identity in Christ alone. Strengthen them to resist the enemy’s schemes, standing firm in the faith (1 Peter 5:9). Surround them with godly community and wisdom as they pursue a marriage that honors You.

Thank You, Lord, for Your deliverance and freedom. We trust in Your promise that if the Son sets us free, we are free indeed (John 8:36). In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you to immerse yourself in God’s Word, for it is a lamp to your feet and a light to your path (Psalm 119:105). Find a Bible-believing church where you can grow in faith and accountability. The enemy wants to isolate you, but God calls you into fellowship (Hebrews 10:25). You are not alone, Jesus has overcome the world (John 16:33), and greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4). Stand firm, dear one, and watch the Lord fight for you.

Thank you for trusting us with this. We can hear how wearying these years have been, and how heavy these last months have felt after ending a relationship you knew was not right for you. Wanting these intrusive thoughts to stop makes complete sense, especially when they feel accurate and pull you back toward old patterns you have worked hard to leave.

What you named about unforgiveness is important. Often forgiveness begins as a quiet decision of the will to release the debt and not pursue revenge, even while painful feelings like resentment or fear still linger. Those feelings usually need more time and care to soften, and going over the hurt again and again can keep that ache alive. Noticing when rumination is starting and gently turning your attention to Christ instead of following the thought further can be a kindness to your own heart.

One steady practice that helps many believers in this kind of battle is not facing it alone. When one of those unwanted thoughts about your former partner comes, try naming it for what it is and choosing not to engage it as insight to follow, but bringing it quickly to Jesus in a simple prayer for help. It also helps to walk closely with a trusted pastor or mature believers who can pray with you, help you make a clean break from any remaining new age materials or contacts, and help fill daily life with Scripture, prayer and fellowship so there is less empty space for old voices to fill.

Father, we lift this dear one to you and thank you that they belong to you in Christ. We ask for your protection and for quiet in their mind, for grace to release those who have hurt them as you lead, and for strength to resist turning back to old ways. Draw them closer to Jesus and surround them with faithful support and counsel. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your testimony has been heard with much prayer and with thanksgiving to God that He has brought you back to Christ and has given you grace to turn away from a relationship which you discerned to be unequally yoked and outside of His will. That turning, though painful, is a mark of His mercy at work in you, for He has taught you the mischief that comes from loving the world and the things thereof, and He now calls you to walk in a purer way.

There is a blessed order in the gospel which you will do well to remember, that first forgiveness comes and then healing. You lie as it were at the feet of Jesus, and your first and chief need is to hear Him say, Man, your sins are forgiven you. All your time in the new age, all the sin that has followed, is set free from every jot and taint and stain of guilt when you look to Christ by faith. It is all there or it is not there at all, and it is there if you believe in Jesus. Do you desire above all things that He should say this to you, and do you believe that He can say it by Divine Authority. Then accept it from Him and rest there. Healing follows pardon, and a new heart also will He give you, and a right spirit will He put within you.

You speak rightly that unforgiveness opens a door to torment. Never rest till you are fully freed from the bondage of sin, for God will work a perfect work in you. As you have been forgiven so freely and so fully, you must in the strength of that forgiveness release those who have sinned against you, even this person who may have dealt unfaithfully with you, and any friends who have grieved you. This is not to say that what was done was not sin, but to say that you leave vengeance and judgment to the Lord and you will not be held in bitterness. Pray that the Lord would enable you to forgive from the heart, as you have been forgiven, that the torment of a bitter spirit may be broken.

As to these unwanted thoughts which come as divination and which tempt you to look again toward the new age, know that deliverance from the power of darkness is as much the work of God as deliverance from the guilt of sin. Where we look for justification, there must we also look for sanctification. You cannot overcome these assaults by your own power, nor by prying into them to see if they are accurate. That very curiosity is a snare. The Lord would have you look away from yourself and away from these whisperings, and look unto Christ. There is a voice that still comes from the excellent Glory concerning every child of God when he is brought into peril and trouble, Deliver him from going down to the pit. That voice you shall always hear when you get into a fix, for God has given commandment to save you and you shall be saved, saved from yourself and from all the attacks of your old sins, saved from the devil. In answer to your morning prayer, Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the Evil One, you shall be preserved and that Evil One shall not touch you as you abide in Christ.

Do not entertain these divination thoughts, nor test them, nor invite them. Turn from them at once and set your eyes upon Jesus. When the preacher opened the Book and gave out his text, Look unto Me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth, for I am God, and there is none else, the soul found peace not by looking within but by looking to Christ. So do you. When the thought intrudes, make it an occasion to cry, Lord, I look to Thee. Fill your mind with Scripture, with prayer, with the communion of the saints, and with honest labour in your calling. The yoke of Christ is easy and His burden is light, not because the way is without conflict, but because He creates in us a new heart that takes to obedience as the old nature took to rebellion, and He bears the weight with us.

The allure you feel toward the new age is not a true light but a delirium from which you could not escape by your own power, yet Infinite Mercy can drag off those bands and snap them and set you free. Count that former way as darkness from which you have been delivered, and do not go back to fetch again what Christ has taught you to forsake.

We will pray for you, that the Lord who has chastened you sorely but has not given you over unto death would grant you full assurance of pardon, grace to forgive as you have been forgiven, and daily deliverance from the power of darkness. May He preserve your going out and your coming in, keep you in purity and uprightness, and bring you to say with a joyous faith, I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord. May you be kept from all the devices of the enemy, and may you find that new sun in your sky and new joy in your heart which salvation gives, to the praise of Him who alone saves.

We pray that you may know more and more that you are washed and cleansed and made to sit among God's people, loving His ways and declaring His mercy.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

We have heard your request and we are taking it seriously before the Lord. Thank you for sharing so honestly about the lasting effects of your time in the new age, the struggle with unforgiveness, and the pain from this recent relationship that you ended because it was unequally yoked and outside of God's will. Ending that relationship was the right step, and we want to support you in continuing to walk away from what does not honor Him.

Scripture teaches that our only deliverance and our only adoption as children of God comes through Jesus Christ. There is no other source of forgiveness or freedom. If you have returned to Christ, you have already been given His Spirit, and you can cling to the promise that when we mourn over our sins, God does not only remove the punishment but comforts us and gives far more than we could earn. Bring your unforgiveness to Him plainly, confess it, and ask for His help to forgive as you have been forgiven. Unforgiveness can leave an open door to torment, and closing that door through repentance and forgiveness is part of walking in freedom.

Those unwanted thoughts that feel like divination, even when they seem accurate, are not to be entertained or followed. They should be rejected firmly and with authority. Do not invite them, do not test them to see if they are true, and do not use them to guide you. When they come, turn immediately to prayer and to Scripture, and ask the Lord to cleanse your mind and to fill it with what is true and good.

The enemy often attacks most strongly when we are alone and isolated. That is why it is so important not to stay by yourself in this battle but to be flocking together continually with other believers. Stay rooted in a faithful local church, bring these struggles into the light with a trusted pastor or mature believers who can pray with you regularly, and stay in the Word daily.

We also hear how alluring the pull back toward the new age feels when these thoughts bombard you. That pull is not a sign that the new age has answers, but a sign that you need deeper grounding in Christ. Resist it by remembering that Christ alone has delivered us from evil and brought us into sonship.

We will pray for you now. Father, we thank you for drawing this soul back to Christ and for giving the courage to end a relationship that was not within your will. We ask for complete deliverance through Jesus alone, for forgiveness of all sin including the sin of unforgiveness, and for grace to forgive others fully. We ask you to silence and stop these tormenting and divinatory thoughts, to guard this mind with your peace, and to break any lingering influence from past involvement in the new age. Strengthen this believer to resist every allure to return to those practices, surround this person with faithful fellowship, and bring the deep comfort you promise to those who mourn over sin. Make this life firm in Christ, clothed in Christ, and filled with your Holy Spirit. In the name of Jesus we ask this, amen.

Please continue to seek pastoral care in person, stay in Scripture, and keep bringing these burdens to the Lord and to trusted believers who can walk with you.
