Demonic attacks

Dhitlor

Good and Faithful Servant
I have been experiencing certain demonic attacks for years due to time that I spent in the new age (even though I returned back to Christ years ago). These attacks may be persisting due to me struggling with unforgiveness and thus opening myself up to demonic torment because of this. Well, I am experiencing a lot of demonic attacks related to a relationship I ended recently due to my being very unequally yoked to that person and the relationship also generally being outside of God's will. These attacks include unwanted divination thoughts about things this person is doing now (these kinds of unwanted thoughts are often accurate). It is likely that this person was unfaithful to me and not really serious about me during our relationship and now I'm being bombarded with thoughts of them moving on to new people including with people who I thought were my friends. This is all very disturbing. Please pray it would stop. For certain reasons, these thoughts start to become alluring to draw me back toward the new age and I'm trying to resist them. Thank you.

We hear your cry for deliverance and stand with you in the authority of Jesus Christ, who has already triumphed over every evil power. Your past involvement in the new age has left spiritual doors open, but the blood of Jesus is more than sufficient to close them. The enemy seeks to exploit your pain, especially the wounds of betrayal, rejection, and unforgiveness, to pull you back into darkness. But we declare that no weapon formed against you shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4).

First, we must address the root of unforgiveness in your heart. Scripture is clear: if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive yours (Matthew 6:15). The torment you are experiencing is not just from demonic forces but also from the spiritual bondage that comes with harboring bitterness. We rebuke the spirit of unforgiveness in Jesus’ name and command it to loose its grip on your mind and emotions. Choose today to release this person to God, trusting Him to be your vindicator (Romans 12:19). Forgiveness is not excusing their sin but freeing yourself from its chains.

The relationship you described was unequally yoked (2 Corinthians 6:14) and outside of God’s will, which is why it brought such turmoil. The enemy is using the memories and the pain of betrayal to tempt you with divination and alluring thoughts, trying to lure you back into occult practices. But we declare that your mind is being renewed by the Word of God (Romans 12:2), and no demonic assignment will succeed against you. We break every soul tie formed in that relationship in the name of Jesus. Every ungodly connection is severed by the power of His blood. We also rebuke the spirit of divination and command it to leave you now. You are not a fortune-teller; you are a child of the Most High God, and your future is hidden in Christ (Colossians 3:3).

The thoughts of this person moving on, even with those you considered friends, are not from God. They are fiery darts from the enemy meant to steal your peace and plant seeds of jealousy, insecurity, and despair. We take up the shield of faith to quench every one of these arrows (Ephesians 6:16). We also bind the spirit of rejection and speak God’s truth over you: you are chosen, loved, and accepted in Christ (Ephesians 1:4-6). The enemy wants you to feel abandoned, but God promises He will never leave you nor forsake you (Hebrews 13:5).

We pray now for your complete deliverance and healing. Father God, in the mighty name of Jesus, we come against every demonic attack targeting this dear one. We plead the blood of Jesus over their mind, emotions, and spirit. We break every curse, hex, or assignment sent against them from the new age or from this past relationship. We command every lying spirit to be silenced and cast out. Lord, fill them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Heal their heart from the pain of betrayal and rejection. Restore their joy and renew their strength (Isaiah 40:31). Help them to walk in forgiveness and to resist the enemy’s schemes with the truth of Your Word. We declare that they are more than a conqueror through Christ who loves them (Romans 8:37). Surround them with Your angels for protection and fill their home with Your presence. May they experience the freedom and victory that is theirs in Jesus Christ. We pray all of this according to Your will, in the powerful name of Jesus Christ, the Name above every name. Amen.

You are not alone in this battle. The Lord has given you the weapons to fight, and they are not carnal but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds (2 Corinthians 10:4). Here are some steps to walk in continued freedom:

1. Repent and Renounce: Verbally renounce any involvement in the new age and any ungodly soul ties from past relationships. Confess these sins to the Lord and ask for His cleansing (1 John 1:9).

2. Forgive: Make a conscious decision to forgive this person, even if it’s difficult. Write it down if you need to, and release them to God. Remember, forgiveness is a process, and the Holy Spirit will help you.

3. Fill Your Mind with Scripture: The enemy attacks your mind because he wants to control your thoughts. Counter his lies with the truth of God’s Word. Meditate on Scriptures about God’s love, protection, and deliverance. Some suggestions are Psalm 91, Ephesians 6:10-18, and James 4:7.

4. Pray in the Spirit: Praying in tongues builds you up in your most holy faith (Jude 1:20) and is a powerful weapon against the enemy. If you have this gift, use it daily.

5. Worship: Worship invites the presence of God and drives out darkness. Spend time daily worshiping the Lord, even if it’s just a few songs. The enemy cannot stand in the presence of praise (Psalm 149:6-9).

6. Community: Surround yourself with strong believers who can pray with you and hold you accountable. Do not isolate yourself, as the enemy thrives in secrecy and isolation.

7. Resist the Enemy: When unwanted thoughts come, resist them immediately. Speak aloud, “I rebuke you, Satan, in the name of Jesus. I will not entertain your lies.” Then replace the thought with Scripture or a declaration of God’s truth.

8. Seek Deliverance Ministry: If these attacks persist, consider seeking help from a trusted deliverance ministry or a mature Christian counselor who understands spiritual warfare.

Remember, the battle is already won. Jesus disarmed principalities and powers and made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them through the cross (Colossians 2:15). You are not fighting for victory; you are fighting from victory. Stand firm in your faith, and do not give the enemy a foothold. The Lord is your refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). He will lead you into complete freedom as you trust in Him.

We hear how heavy and exhausting this has been, carrying these unwanted thoughts for years and feeling them surge again after ending that relationship. It makes sense you feel disturbed and worn down. We are grateful you have stayed close to Christ and are resisting the pull back toward old new age patterns. That steady resistance matters, even when it feels hard.

What you named about unforgiveness is important. Often choosing to forgive starts as a decision we make before our feelings catch up. The hurt and rumination can linger for a while even after we have decided to release the debt, and that lingering place can feel like an open door for torment. Healing there is usually gradual, not instant, and God is patient with you in that process.

A practical help many find steady is to have a simple plan for when those intrusive thoughts about your former partner come. Instead of following the thought to see if it is accurate or trying to figure out what it means, you can quietly name it as an unwanted intrusion, bring it to Jesus in a brief prayer, and turn your attention to something concrete and good in front of you. It can also help to walk with a trusted pastor or mature believer in person who can pray with you, help you renounce any remaining ties to new age practices, and support you as you work through forgiveness at your own pace. You do not have to carry this alone.

Father, we lift them to You in Jesus name. Quiet these tormenting thoughts, guard their mind and heart, and fill the places where hurt has lived with Your peace. Give wisdom for each step away from old ways and toward You, and surround them with faithful, steady support. Amen.

Your request has been read with much care and with prayer before the Lord, and we grieve to hear of the long oppression you have endured and the fresh distress that now besets your mind.

There is wisdom and mercy in your having ended a relationship which you discerned to be unequally yoked and outside the will of God. The Scripture teaches that light has no fellowship with darkness, and that the covenant of marriage is ordained for one man and one woman for life, with purity kept within that covenant alone. To turn away from what is not of God is not loss but obedience, though the heart may still ache and the enemy may seek to use that ache.

You speak rightly that unforgiveness can give place to torment. Our Lord teaches us to forgive even as we have been forgiven, not because the wrong was small, but because we have been forgiven so great a debt through the blood of Christ. Where bitterness is harbored, the adversary finds advantage, and where it is released in humble confession before God, the soul finds liberty. If you have not yet done so, bring that unforgiveness plainly to the Lord, confess it as sin, and ask for grace to release those who have wronged you, as Christ has released you.

Concerning the unwanted thoughts which come as divination, and the allure to return to the ways of the new age, hear the counsel of the Word to pray, Lead us not into temptation. Temptation in itself is perilous, and the man who prays that prayer and then goes into temptation willingly speaks falsely before God. To seek to know hidden things by forbidden means, even when the thought presents itself as accurate or alluring, is to open again a back door by which Satan would draw you from deliverance. Do not go after those thoughts, do not entertain them nor test them, but take them captive to the obedience of Christ. Resist the devil and he will flee from you, not by your strength, but by submission to God. The new age promises knowledge and power, but it leads only to Egypt, to sorrow and bondage, and Christ has brought you out from Egypt by a greater salvation.

Your deliverance does not rest upon your own power to forget or to fight. Our deliverance came when the Lamb was slain. Pharaoh could hold Israel through many plagues, but he could not hold them beyond the blood of the lamb. So it is with you. God has not only devised a way of deliverance, He has found a ransom. The King's own Son has borne the penalty of all iniquity for those who trust in Him, and when God Himself proclaims, I have found a ransom, then deliverance is certain, indeed it is already accomplished for all who are in Christ. Deliverance from the guilt of sin and deliverance from the power of sin are both the work of God alone. You can do nothing to earn it, and you need not, for it is of free grace only. He who has delivered us from the power of darkness will also keep us, and there was not one feeble person among His tribes when He brought them forth. He accompanies deliverance with health and strength.

Therefore be more earnest after the heavenly treasure than after hurrying away from conflict by any forbidden means. Fill your mind with Scripture, keep close in prayer, walk in the light with faithful believers who will watch with you, and when these thoughts are cast like fiery arrows, answer them with the truth of Christ crucified and risen. Declare with the psalmist, The Lord has chastened me sore, but He has not given me over unto death. I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord.

We pray for you now, that the Lord would grant you full deliverance from every oppression, that He would cleanse your conscience through the blood of the Lamb, that He would give you grace to forgive from the heart, that He would guard your mind and bring every thought into captivity to Christ, that He would shut the door forever upon divination and the deceits of the new age, and that He would keep you from temptation and deliver you from evil. May He cause these intrusive and disturbing thoughts to cease, may He heal the wounds of unfaithfulness and disappointment, and may He establish you in peace within His borders and in purity of life before Him. May you know that your God is with you, and may you be kept standing fast to the end, to declare His works with a jubilant song for His greater salvation.

We will continue to bear you up before the throne of grace, asking that you may know more deeply the ransom found and the power of Him who has delivered us.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Thank you for sharing this so honestly and for your desire to walk faithfully with Christ after coming out of the new age. What you are describing is painful and disturbing, and it is right that you want these attacks and intrusive thoughts to stop and that you want to resist being drawn back to old practices.

In Christ you have been delivered from evil and brought into sonship, not through any power of your own but through His blood and the forgiveness of sins. The new age, including divination and seeking hidden knowledge apart from God, is not a neutral path but one Scripture calls us to renounce completely. Even when an unwanted thought or impression seems accurate, that does not mean it is from God or for your good. The enemy can use a half truth to keep a door open. God does not give us divination about another person to torment us. He calls us to take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ and to resist the devil, who will flee when we submit to God and stand firm in the faith.

You mentioned unforgiveness, and you are right to see the connection. Jesus taught that holding onto unforgiveness can leave us open to torment. Forgiveness does not mean saying what happened was right or that trust is restored, and it does not mean you should return to a relationship that was outside of God's will. It means releasing the person and the debt to God, asking Him to help you will to forgive as you have been forgiven, even when feelings are still raw. Ending a relationship because you were unequally yoked and because it was outside God's design for marriage and for sexual purity was an obedient step, even though it brings grief. God does not bless what He calls us to leave, but He does bless obedience with His presence, healing and future restoration.

These unwanted thoughts about your former partner, including thoughts about unfaithfulness or about friends, are not to be followed, examined or tested to see if they are true. Following them is what makes them alluring and what can pull you back toward divination. When they come, turn immediately to Christ. Name what is happening plainly, renounce the old way, and pray for God to close every door that was opened through the new age. Ask Him to forgive past involvement, to cleanse you, and to fill your mind with what is true and holy. It will help to stay rooted daily in Scripture, in prayer, and in fellowship with mature believers who know your story and can pray with you in person. If you have objects, books, or practices remaining from that time, remove them. Fill that space with worship, the Word, and Christian community.

God comforts those who mourn over sin, not by removing every struggle instantly, but by giving forgiveness, peace, and strength far greater than the burden. He has not promised to keep us from all spiritual conflict in this life, but He has given us victory in Christ and power to despise and resist the enemy rather than be enslaved by him.

Let me pray for you.

Father, we come to You in the name of Jesus Christ alone, our only Savior and deliverer. Thank You for bringing this dear one back to Yourself and for the forgiveness that is found in Your Son. We ask You to forgive all past involvement in the new age and in divination, and to cleanse and seal every door that was opened. By the power of the cross and resurrection, we ask You to rebuke every demonic attack, every tormenting and intrusive thought, and to command it to leave and not return. Teach this heart to forgive as You have forgiven, and heal the wounds of betrayal and grief. Guard the mind, grant peace that passes understanding, and fill it with Your truth. Keep this dear one from any allure to return to old ways, and draw them deeper into love for Jesus, into Scripture, and into the fellowship of Your people. Strengthen them to resist the enemy and to walk in purity, obedience and hope. We ask for complete deliverance, healing and protection in Christ. Amen.

Continue to bring these temptations into the light quickly with a trusted pastor or counselor, keep taking thoughts captive the moment they appear, and keep asking God for His abundant consolation. He is faithful and He will keep you.

Thank you for sharing so honestly about what you have been carrying for years and what has intensified recently. Ending a relationship because you recognized it was unequally yoked and outside of God's will was a right and courageous step of obedience, even though it has left you with painful thoughts and spiritual pressure. God honors that willingness to walk in His path.

What you describe from your past involvement in the new age is real. Scripture shows that there are evil spirits who can harass and torment, and their power to inflict pain is not stopped by hiding or trying to shut them out in your own strength. Yet Scripture also shows that God makes a separation for His own. Those who belong to Christ are sealed and kept by Him, and He is able to deliver from evil when we call on Him. You have returned to Christ and His blood is the new covenant shed for the forgiveness of sins. In Christ you are a new creation, raised to a new life that is governed by the Spirit. That new life does not erase that temptation will still come, but it means you do not have to be mastered by the flesh or by old patterns any longer. You can seek those things which are above and set your heart and affections there, rather than on things of the earth that will pass away.

You mentioned unforgiveness as a possible open door, and that insight is important to bring before the Lord. Jesus taught that when we refuse to forgive as we have been forgiven, we can remain in a place of torment. Forgiveness is not saying what happened was right or that the hurt did not matter. It is releasing the other person to God and choosing to walk as God has dealt with you, with mercy through Christ. Ask the Lord to show you anyone you are holding bitterness toward, including this person who may have been unfaithful, and also any friends involved, and ask Him to help you forgive from the heart so that door can be closed.

The unwanted thoughts you describe are a form of temptation. Every temptation presents a decision whether to walk according to the flesh or according to the Spirit. Temptation often whispers that you could have immediate relief or fulfillment if you just turn aside from God's way for a moment. That was the nature of the temptation even Jesus faced. The sin is not in being tempted. We all experience temptation and Jesus Himself was tempted, yet without sin. Sin comes when desire is conceived and we yield to it and follow the path suggested. The fact that some of these intrusive thoughts seem accurate does not mean they are from God or that you should follow them. Divination is a counterfeit and God calls His people away from it. Those thoughts are disturbing because they are meant to torment and also to allure you back toward the old way that once held you. Recognize them for what they are, an invitation to leave the path of the Spirit and return to the flesh, and choose instead to turn to Christ.

This testing of your faith, though painful, is common to all believers and God can use it to develop patience as you learn to wait upon Him rather than seeking quick answers through forbidden means. The way to stand is not by fighting these thoughts in your own mind alone, but by receiving with meekness the Word of God planted in your heart, which is able to save your soul, and by being a doer of the Word and not only a hearer. When those thoughts come, bring them immediately to Jesus in prayer. Pray as He taught us, that the Father would not lead you into temptation but deliver you from evil, and pray that you would not enter into temptation by yielding to it. Fill your mind with Scripture, worship, and truth, and refuse to entertain or pursue the divination.

I am praying for you that the Lord would bring this torment to an end and guard your mind. That He would give you grace to forgive fully, to close every door that has been opened to the enemy, to resist the allure to return to old practices, and to know deeply that you are dead to that old life and alive to God in Christ. May He fill you with His Spirit, establish you in His Word daily, and give you patience and peace as you keep seeking Him and walking in obedience. May He deliver you from every attack and draw you closer to Himself, where there is safety and rest.

If these thoughts continue to be overwhelming, please also seek ongoing pastoral care and counsel from a trusted, Bible believing pastor near you so you do not walk through this alone.
