We join you in lifting up your son before our Heavenly Father and we thank you for bringing him to the Lord in prayer.
We pray for his deliverance and for healing in both body and soul, for we know our bodies are precious to God. As it is written, Or don't you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20. We ask the Lord to give your son strength and self control and wisdom to steward his body well, to lose weight safely and in a way that honors God and brings lasting health, not through harsh or harmful means but through discipline, nourishing food, movement, rest, and dependence on God's strength. We pray as in 3 John 1:2, Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be healthy, even as your soul prospers.
We also lift up the hurts of his past to the One who heals the brokenhearted. The Lord sees every wound and every memory that still brings pain, and He is near to those who are hurting. He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds. Psalm 147:3. The righteous cry, and Yahweh hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles. Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Psalm 34:17-18. We pray that God would deliver your son from any bondage, from shame, from bitterness, from anxiety or any stronghold that has taken root through those past hurts, and that He would renew his mind. Don't be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Romans 12:2. We ask that where there has been comfort sought in food or other unhealthy patterns, the Lord would replace it with His comfort and peace, and that your son would learn to cast all his anxieties on Him because He cares for him. 1 Peter 5:7.
We want to gently remind you that we have access to the Father only through Jesus Christ. You asked for prayer but did not mention His name, and we want to be sure this foundation is clear. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6. There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12. It is only by placing our faith in Jesus Christ, His death and resurrection for our sins, that our prayers are heard and our hearts are truly healed. If your son does not yet know Him, we pray that this season of seeking health and healing would also become a season of drawing near to Jesus as Savior and Lord.
So together we pray, Father in heaven, we bring this precious son before Your throne of grace in the name of Jesus Christ. We ask for Your deliverance over his life. Break every chain of hurt, rejection, fear, and unhealthy habit, and set him free by the power of Your Holy Spirit. Heal his heart from every past wound, help him to forgive as You have forgiven us, and fill those empty places with Your love and peace which surpasses all understanding. Philippians 4:7. Guide him with wisdom to care for his body with patience and consistency, and provide godly counsel and good medical wisdom to help him lose weight safely. Strengthen his will where he is weak, and let him know that You are with him, for You have said, Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Isaiah 41:10. Let him find his identity and worth not in his appearance or his past, but in being Your beloved child. We trust You to complete the good work You have begun in him and we thank You for the healing and freedom that is coming. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.
We encourage you to continue to walk beside him with love and prayer, speaking life over him, encouraging healthy daily rhythms without shame, and pointing him always to the Word of God for his true nourishment and hope.
