We lift up your son before the Lord with you and we understand your deep love and concern for both his physical health and his inner healing. It is a good and loving thing to bring him before the Father who formed him and knows him intimately.
We pray for his body and for safe and lasting health. Scripture reminds us that our bodies are not our own to neglect or to harm, but are to be stewarded for God's glory, for we were bought with a price. 1 Cor 6:19-20 says, Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s. We also hold to the promise in 3 John 1:2, Beloved, we pray that you may prosper in all things and be healthy, even as your soul prospers. We pray that the Lord would give your son strength and self control, which is a fruit of the Spirit described in Gal 5:22-23, and wisdom to make healthy choices with food, activity and rest, and that any plan for weight loss would be safe, balanced and sustained, not harsh or harmful, and we encourage seeking wise medical counsel alongside prayer.
We also bring his past hurts before the Great Healer. The Lord sees every wound, every disappointment and every memory that still brings pain. Psalm 147:3 tells us, He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds. And in Isaiah 41:10 we are comforted, Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. We pray for true deliverance for your son, not just outward change but inward freedom from any bondage, whether it be comfort eating, shame, fear, unforgiveness or the lingering weight of what others have done to him. We pray he will learn to cast all his cares on the Lord, as we are urged in Phil 4:6-7, In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.
We noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ and we want to gently and lovingly share why that matters so deeply to us. It is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and it is only by His name that we are saved. Jesus Himself said in John 14:6, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 declares, There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. If you have not already, we encourage you and your son to place your full trust in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for our sins and rose again, confessing Him as Lord, for Rom 10:9 says, that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. It is in His name we pray with confidence.
So together we pray, Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this precious son to You. Lord, we ask for Your deliverance and Your healing power to rest upon him. Touch his body and help him to lose weight safely in a way that honors You and restores his health and energy. Give him discipline without condemnation, strength without striving in his own power, and surround him with wise counsel and encouragement. Heal his heart from every past hurt, Lord. Bind up his wounds, break every chain of shame or sorrow, and replace pain with Your peace and joy. Help him to forgive as You have forgiven us and to walk in the freedom Christ purchased for him. Fill him with hope for the future and let him know how deeply he is loved and valued by You. We ask that his soul would prosper as his body is strengthened, and that his life would bring glory to You. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
We encourage you to continue to speak life over him, to encourage healthy daily habits with grace and patience rather than pressure or shame, and to help him stay rooted in the Word and in fellowship with other believers who will support his journey. The Lord is faithful to complete the good work He has begun, and we trust Him to bring both physical restoration and deep inner healing in His perfect time.
