Thank you for sharing this request and for your concern for your son. We are praying with you for deliverance, for health, and for deep healing from past hurts.
The Bible speaks clearly about curses and blessings. In Deuteronomy chapters 27 and 28, the law was read with blessings pronounced from one mountain and curses from Mount Ebal for disobedience to God's covenant. After each curse the people were to answer Amen, acknowledging that God's judgment is right and that disobedience brings consequences. Scripture shows that there are many more verses describing curses than blessings, and it says the curses would pursue and overtake those who turned away from the voice of the Lord and did not keep His commandments. This helps us understand that in the Bible a curse is not a vague spell from another person, but the just consequence of sin and of living apart from God.
The good news is that Jesus came to bear what we could not bear ourselves. Isaiah 53 says He has borne our griefs and carried our infirmities and sicknesses, and the New Testament shows Jesus healing people as a sign that He has authority in every realm, physical, emotional and spiritual. Through faith in Jesus Christ alone we are forgiven, redeemed from the curse of the law, and brought into the blessing of being children of God. So we do not pray that a magical curse will continue, we pray that you and your son will rest fully in what Christ has already done, walk in obedience to His voice, and know the freedom and protection that comes from belonging to Him.
We also pray for your son's physical health and for healing from past hurts. The Gospels show that Jesus healed in many different ways. Sometimes He healed instantly with a touch, sometimes with only a word from a distance, and once He healed gradually. There is much about healing we do not fully understand, and we do not always know why some are healed quickly and others more slowly, but we do believe that all true healing is from God. He has built healing processes into our bodies, and He also works beyond those processes according to His wisdom and love. He heals not only bodies but also minds and emotions, bringing restoration to wounds and scars that others cannot see.
So we pray now that the power of any sin, accusation, or consequence of the past would be broken in Jesus' name, and that you and your son would live in the liberty Christ gives. We pray that God will give your son wisdom and strength to lose weight in a safe and healthy way, with good counsel, self discipline, and stewardship of the body God has given him. We pray that the Lord will heal the hurts of the past, comfort his heart, renew his mind, and fill him with peace.
May the Lord draw you both closer to Himself, help you to hear and obey His voice, and show you daily His love and faithfulness. We will continue to pray that you experience His deliverance, His healing, and His wholeness in every part of life.
