Deliverance prayer for the former ###

Heavenly Father, we thank you for the cross and for the fact that your holy Son, Jesus, suffered for all of us who believe. We praise your holy name. Lord, you know the plans you have for us, and your thoughts are far greater than ours. We come to you together in the name of Jesus, believing that you hear our prayers when we agree. Lord, you know this man who rented his flat to me, and he is also your child. Lord, help him to hear your voice concerning your holy plan for his life. Help him to see the clear, unmistakable truth about his identity in Christ. Open his eyes to the false identity he adopted when he entered into sinful relationships or activities and strayed from your narrow path and followed his own desires. Lord break his stony heart and give him courage to follow the narrow path and soften his heart for your glory. I also pray that you will separate him from ungodly influences, including those in his household, and that he will recognise the depth of your love, as well as the sinful and hateful relationships he has entered into, in which he is controlled, blackmailed, and where his life may be in danger. Give him understanding to fear your Holy name. Lord, give him understanding to depart from evil and the evil woman in his life. In Jesus' powerful name we ask these things, amen.

We join with you in agreement for this man and we thank you for standing in the gap for him with such love and discernment. It is good that you have brought him before the throne of grace in the name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and it is only through His blood on the cross that deliverance and forgiveness are possible.

We see your heart to see him restored to his true identity in Christ and set free from the false identity and bondage that comes from sinful relationships and following his own desires. The Word tells us Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new 2 Corinthians 5:17. When a person strays from the narrow path to follow the flesh, he exchanges the truth for a lie and becomes entangled, and the enemy will use ungodly influences, fornication and adultery, control and even blackmail to keep him in darkness.

We agree with you that his heart needs to be softened and made new. God says I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit within you. I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh Ezekiel 36:26. We pray that the Lord will indeed break that stony heart, grant him godly sorrow that leads to repentance, and give him courage to choose the narrow way that leads to life, for narrow is the gate and narrow is the way that leads to life Matthew 7:14.

We also agree with you concerning the need for separation from ungodly influences, including those in his household and the evil woman in his life who has brought control and danger. Scripture warns us Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity 2 Corinthians 6:14 and Flee sexual immorality 1 Corinthians 6:18. Any sexual relationship outside of marriage between a man and a woman is fornication or adultery and is sin before God, and it never brings the love and security it promises but brings bondage, shame and destruction. God desires marriage to be honored and the marriage bed to be undefiled Hebrews 13:4, and we pray that this man will come to hate the sin that has ensnared him and to hunger for purity and holiness.

We pray together now.

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus and we lift up this man to You. You know him by name, You see where he lives and the influences that surround him, and You know the depth of the entanglement and the danger he is in. Lord, open his eyes to see the truth about who he is in Christ and the lie of the false identity he has taken on. Let him fear Your holy name, for The fear of Yahweh is to hate evil Proverbs 8:13 and Do not be wise in your own eyes. Fear Yahweh, and depart from evil Proverbs 3:7. Give him understanding to depart from evil and to turn away completely from the woman and from every sinful relationship that is controlling and blackmailing him.

Father, we ask that You cut every ungodly soul tie and break every chain the enemy has placed upon him. Rescue him from those who would harm him and be his refuge and fortress Psalm 91:2. Surround him with godly counsel and remove him from fellowship that drags him down. Soften his heart, convict him by Your Holy Spirit, and draw him to repentance, for You have promised If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness 1 John 1:9. Help him to submit himself to You and to resist the devil, knowing that he will flee from him James 4:7.

Lord, we ask that You reveal the depth of Your love to him, that he would know he is not beyond Your grace and that Your plans for him are for good and not for evil, to give him a future and a hope Jeremiah 29:11. Lead him into a life of holiness, and if it is Your will, in due time lead him to a godly marriage that honors You, as a lifelong covenant between a man and a woman, rather than the counterfeit and destructive relationships of the world.

We thank You, Father, that You hear us when we agree together, and we trust You to continue this work until he walks in freedom. Give the one who is interceding for him strength, wisdom and protection as well, and help him to speak the truth in love without compromise.

Your prayer has been heard and we join with you in bringing this man before the throne of grace, agreeing in the name of Jesus Christ, for there is no other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved.

We thank God with you for the cross, where Jesus Christ, who is God and Man, suffered as the Substitute for all who believe in Him, bearing their sins in His own body on the tree and away from the tree, so that for all who truly trust Him there is now no condemnation. The blood of Jesus Christ, God's Son, cleanses from all sin all who truly repent and believe in Him.

We join you in praying for true deliverance, not a superficial repentance that only affects the surface of a man and withers in a night, nor a repentance that springs only from terror, but that repentance which is the fruit of Divine Grace and gives glory to God. True repentance and true faith are inseparable companions. Repentance ejects sin as an evil tenant, and faith admits Christ to be the sole Master of the heart. We do not draw up repentance from the depths of our own heart as water from a well, but we ask Christ to work repentance in us by His Holy Spirit through belief of the truth as it is recorded in the Word of God.

Therefore let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we praise Your holy name and thank You that Your thoughts and plans are far greater than ours, and that You hear when Your people agree in prayer in the name of Jesus. Lord, You know this man, You see where he dwells and the influences that surround him. We ask that You would open his ears and seal instruction to his heart, that You would withdraw him from his own purposes and hide pride from him. Break his stony heart and give him a heart of flesh, soften him by Your grace and give him courage to walk in the narrow path that leads to life.

Grant him, O Lord, a clear sight of his true identity in Christ, as one created in Your image and, by faith, made a new creature in Jesus. Deliver him from the power of darkness, from the fascinating power of sin, and from every false identity he has taken up while straying from Your way to follow his own desires. Show him the exceeding sinfulness of sin, that he may hate it because it slew Christ, and turn from it to live as You would have him live.

We pray that You would deliver him from going down to the pit, for You are able to deal in love with souls when the soil slips from under their feet. Cause him to look unto You and be saved, to look away from himself, from forms and feelings and works, and to look to what Christ has done, trusting wholly in His one great sacrifice. Give him that faith which looks to Christ and lives.

Father, separate him in Your mercy from ungodly influences and from every relationship that is not according to Your holy will. Your Word teaches that marriage is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and that sexual union and living together belong within that covenant alone. We do not ask You to bless what is contrary to Your Word, but we ask You to lead him out of every controlling, sinful and hateful entanglement where he is led astray, blackmailed or endangered. Give him understanding to fear Your holy name and to depart from evil. Guard his life and set him free, for when Christ was bound, His people were made free, and we pray that this freedom would be his portion.

Teach him the mischief that comes from loving the world and the things thereof, and make Your love and grace so real to him that he will not return as a dog returns to its vomit, but will walk by faith from the wicket gate to the celestial city, with repentance as his right hand companion all the journey through.

We ask all this not because we are worthy, but because Jesus suffered for sinners and is mighty to save. Let him hear Your voice, believe and live, and declare the works of the Lord. In the powerful name of Jesus Christ our Lord we pray, amen.

Continue to pray for him and to set Christ before him in word and in life. Urge him to look to Christ alone, to hear the preaching of the Word, and to seek the Lord while He may be found. He who has begun a good work is faithful to complete it for the praise of the glory of His grace.
