We join with you in agreement in the name of Jesus and we thank you for bringing this man before the throne of grace. We praise God with you for the cross and for the suffering of His holy Son for all who believe, for by His wounds we are healed. We are encouraged that you have come together in the name of Jesus, for He said in Matthew 18:19-20 that if two of you will agree on earth concerning anything that they will ask, it will be done for them by our Father who is in heaven, and where two or three are gathered together in His name, there He is in the midst of them. We also rejoice that you lifted this prayer in the powerful name of Jesus, for there is no other name by which we must be saved and no other way to the Father, as Jesus said in John 14:6, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.
We agree that the Lord knows the plans He has for this man and that His thoughts are far greater than ours, for it is written in Jeremiah 29:11, For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future, and in Isaiah 55:8-9, For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, says Yahweh. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. We pray that he will come to know his true identity in Christ, for if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation as we read in 2 Corinthians 5:17, The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new. Any false identity adopted through sinful relationships or activities is not who God created him to be, and we pray that the Lord will open his eyes to see that clearly.
We understand your burden for his deliverance from the narrow path he has left and the sinful relationships that now control and endanger him. The Word calls us to enter in by the narrow gate, for narrow is the gate, and restricted is the way that leads to life, and few are those who find it in Matthew 7:13-14. When a man strays from that path to follow his own desires, especially into sexual immorality, he sins against his own body and against God, for it is written in 1 Corinthians 6:18, Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. If this involves fornication or adultery outside of marriage between a man and a woman, we must call it what God calls it, sin that needs repentance and forsaking, for God calls us to purity and to honor marriage. We also take seriously your concern that he is being controlled, blackmailed, and that his life may be in danger, and we pray for his protection, for Yahweh is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble in Psalm 46:1.
We pray together for him now.
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son and we lift up this former landlord to You. Lord, You know him and You love him, and You desire that none should perish but that all should come to repentance. We ask that You break his stony heart and give him a new heart and a new spirit within him, as You promised in Ezekiel 36:26, I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit within you. I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh. Soften his heart, Lord, and give him courage to turn from sin and to follow the narrow path that leads to life, and to fear Your holy name, for The fear of Yahweh is the beginning of wisdom in Proverbs 9:10. Grant him understanding to depart from evil and to be delivered from the evil influences in his life, including the ungodly relationships and any woman who is leading him into sin, for her ways lead down to death. Separate him, Father, from every ungodly influence, even those in his own household, for we know that Evil companionships corrupt good morals in 1 Corinthians 15:33, and we ask that You surround him with godly counsel and bring him into fellowship where Your truth is spoken in love. Where he is controlled and blackmailed and in danger, we ask for Your divine protection and for wisdom to seek help and to walk in the light, and we claim the promise in John 8:36, If therefore the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed. Help him to submit himself to You and to resist the devil so that the enemy will flee from him according to James 4:7. Open his eyes to the depth of Your love and to the hatefulness and destructiveness of the sinful relationships he has entered, and lead him to true repentance and to the cleansing that comes only through the blood of Jesus. We ask this in the mighty and holy name of Jesus, amen.
We encourage you to continue to intercede for him with persistence and love, speaking the truth in love and not ceasing to point him to Jesus and to the Word of God. Pray that he will hunger for the Scriptures and that God will bring a faithful believer or pastor into his life who can disciple him and help him walk out his deliverance day by day. We also encourage you to pray for your own protection and wisdom as you intercede, and to trust that God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think.
