You are black, that is yourself in Adam; but comely, that is yourself in the second Adam. Oh, think of that!, that you are always in God’s sight comely, always in God’s sight lovely, always in God’s sight as though you were perfect. The debt is paid, the bill is receipted. Who can lay anything to the charge of God’s elect? O beloved! it is a most blessed thing to come to the blood of sprinkling. Yet I hear your cry of temporal debt, and it is no small burden. Though the starving citizens of Samaria did not know it, the Lord had made provision in abundance for all their hunger, and there it was, within a stone’s throw of the city gates. The Lord had done it! And He can do the same for your earthly lack. But you must so seek the Lord as to make no provision for the lusts of the flesh and the desires of the mind. Make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill the lusts thereof, for if you do, you have not sought the Lord with all your heart. There must be one Object and that must be neither self nor sin, but you must feel and say, “In God is my salvation, and my glory.”
A YouTube channel may be a means, but guard against a swinish religion in which you are yourself first, yourself second, yourself third, yourself to the utmost end. Did Jesus ever think or speak in that fashion? He takes away the first, that He may establish the second. If your first seeking has been a failure, let my text be a message of encouragement to you, “At the second time Joseph was made known to his brothers”, let it encourage you to seek the Savior again in the hope that, at the second time, Jesus may make Himself known to you! The second knock was very loud and was heard by all who stood around the door, but it commanded no answer from within. Seek Him for provision, yes, but chiefly seek Him. You must be born a second time! Or else, if there is not a second birth, you will have to endure the second death.
He is risen from the dead! And because He lives, we live also. This declaration should be continually made. It should not be a matter of one solemn occasion, but our whole life should be a witness to the power and Grace which we have found in Christ! Let your life, and even your labor for income, be a public testimony, a debt to God and man. The Lord will take away the first, that He may establish the second. There will be a second creation, a second world, for the Lord will have taken away the first, but He will have established the second! And when He comes a second time none will stand against Him. Until that day, seek Him with your whole heart, and trust that He who gave His Son shall also with Him freely give us all things.
