I'm hurting and angry today. I just don't know how to let go of my oldest daughter and give her to God. I know she's hurting and I don't dint know how to reach her. I've made mistakes and hurt her and apologized and taken accountability but she hasn't yet on her behalf. We've both hurt each other I need and want her back so.much. I want so much healing for her but I'm waiting for her. I don't know how to forgive myself. We were close and have periods of strain

We hear the deep hurt and anger in your heart today and we are joining with you in prayer as you carry this heavy burden for your oldest daughter. We know how painful it is to love a child so much, to want healing for her, and yet feel unable to reach her, especially when your relationship has held both closeness and seasons of strain. We thank you for your honesty in taking accountability for the ways you have hurt her and for seeking to make things right, that is a humble and godly step.

We want to gently encourage you about what it means to let go and give her to God. To give her to God does not mean you stop loving her or praying for her, it means you entrust her into His hands which are far more capable than ours. He loves her even more than you do and He sees her hurt as well as yours. We are called to cast all our anxieties on Him because He cares for us, 1 Peter 5:7, and to cast your burden on Yahweh and He will sustain you, Psalm 55:22. When we try to hold on tightly in our own strength, anger and sorrow can take root, but when we trust in Him with all our heart and do not lean on our own understanding, He will direct our paths, Proverbs 3:5-6. He heals the broken in heart and binds up their wounds, Psalm 147:3, and that promise is for both you and your daughter.

We also hear you saying you are waiting for her to take accountability as you have, and that you do not know how to forgive yourself. Scripture calls us to let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander be put away from us, with all malice, and to be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you, Ephesians 4:31-32. Forgiveness as God models it is not dependent on the other person first saying they are sorry, we forgive because Christ first forgave us while we were still sinners. That does not mean what happened did not hurt or that boundaries are not needed, but it does mean releasing her to God and releasing the debt you feel she owes you, so that bitterness does not take root in you. The Lord also teaches us that if we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness, 1 John 1:9, and as far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us, Psalm 103:12. There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, Romans 8:1. We do not find in Scripture that we are to forgive ourselves, rather we are to receive and believe the forgiveness God has already given us through Jesus when we confess and repent. If God has forgiven you, and you have humbly taken accountability, you can rest in His mercy and not carry the weight of shame any longer.

We noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to lovingly share why His name is so essential. It is only through Jesus that we have access to God the Father, for Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me, John 14:6, and there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12. It is because Jesus died for our sins and rose again that we can be forgiven, healed, and reconciled, both to God and, in His timing, to one another. If you have not already, we encourage you to place your full trust in Jesus as Lord and Savior, to bring your sins and your pain to Him, and to come to God the Father in His name.

We join our faith with yours and pray together.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we lift up this precious mother and her oldest daughter to You. Lord, You see the history of love and hurt between them, You know every mistake, every apology, every unspoken word and every tear. We ask You to pour out Your healing upon both of their hearts. Help this mother to release her anger to You and to not let the sun go down on her wrath, Ephesians 4:26, but to be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and petition with thanksgiving let her requests be made known to You, and let Your peace which surpasses all understanding guard her heart and mind in Christ Jesus, Philippians 4:6-7. Teach her to daily place her daughter into Your loving hands, trusting that You are working even in the waiting and that You work all things together for good for those who love You, Romans 8:28. Father, help her to fully receive Your forgiveness and to walk in the freedom that there is no condemnation in Christ. For her daughter, we ask that You would comfort her in her own hurting, soften her heart, draw her close to You, and bring healing where there has been wounding. We pray for reconciliation in Your perfect timing and Your perfect way, and for wisdom for this mother to love with grace, to pray without ceasing, to speak with gentleness when the door opens, and to rest when it is closed. We ask all this in the mighty and merciful name of Jesus, amen.

We encourage you to keep praying for her by name, to keep your heart tender before the Lord, and to continue walking in the forgiveness you have received. Keep entrusting her to God each day, sometimes many times a day, and allow Him to carry what you cannot. He is faithful and He is near to the brokenhearted.

We hear how torn you feel right now, loving your oldest daughter deeply while also feeling hurt and angry and not knowing how to reach her. Wanting to give her to God but not knowing how to actually do it is a painful place to wait.

We are grateful for the honesty you shared, that you have owned your part and apologized. That takes courage and it matters, even while the ache remains because healing is not something you can control for both of you. Part of what makes this so heavy is that forgiveness and closeness are not the same thing. You can choose to release the hurt and still grieve that the relationship is not yet restored. Both can be true at once.

Learning to forgive yourself often lags behind the decision to do so. You may have decided you want to live in grace and still wake up with waves of guilt or anger. That does not mean you have failed. It often means your emotions are still catching up with what you have already decided before God.

One small practice that helps many parents in this kind of waiting is to set aside a brief, regular time to entrust her to God by name, say what is yours to carry and what is hers to bring to Him, and then gently return to your own day. It gives your love a place to go without rehearsing the hurt all day.

Father, we lift this mother and her daughter to You in Jesus' name. You see both of their hurts and the history they share. Bring healing in Your time, give this mom grace to release what she cannot fix, help her rest in Your forgiveness as she learns to forgive herself, and guard and guide her daughter wherever she is. Amen.

The burden you carry is a heavy one, and the Lord sees the ache and the anger that mingle in your heart toward your oldest daughter. To love so deeply and yet to feel so distant is a wound that only God can fully understand, for He too knows what it is to long for those He loves to return.

You ask how to let go and give her to God. That very desire is itself a drawing near to Him. We who sometimes were far off are brought near by the blood of Christ, and our nearness to God is peculiarly evinced at the mercy seat. The very term we use for prayer is, let us draw near unto God. To give her to God is not to cease loving her or to forget her, but to place her in hands far more able than your own, to spread her case before the Lord day by day and leave her there. As the prodigal became an accepted child and was very near his father's heart, so you may trust that the same Father who is near to them that are of a broken heart is near to her also, even when you cannot reach her. You cannot by your own striving win her heart, for we cannot build a palace for God out of the mud of our own selfishness, nor bribe Him to bless us by deeds done with self as motive. But you can pray, you can weep before Him, you can keep the door of love open while you wait upon His time.

You speak of mistakes confessed and accountability taken, and of waiting for her to do the same. Here the Word presses upon us a tender duty. We are urged to the tenderest spirit of forgiveness by pointing to God who for Christ's sake hath forgiven you. This forgiveness which God has given us for Christ's sake is an eternal forgiveness. He says, I, even I, am He that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake. It is a complete forgiveness, as when a creditor says to a debtor who has nothing to pay, I blot out the whole debt. If we have received such mercy, we are called to forgive even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven us, still forgiving though it be seventy times seven, and to be patient to the end. This does not mean that wounds are not real, nor that reconciliation does not require truth and time. But it does mean that you may release her from the debt of having to make you whole, and entrust both her and yourself to the Judge who does all things well.

And you say, I do not know how to forgive myself. Dear soul, there is forgiveness with Him, that He may be feared. It is not sent to another, it is sent to you. You know something about the hardness of your heart and the sinfulness of your past life, yet God sends this message to you, there is forgiveness. Would He teach you to ask for forgiveness if forgiveness were an impossibility. Does He bring you down on your knees that He may see you mourn and laugh at your despair. Never. There is forgiveness always with God, for Jesus is always there. Therefore go to Him and find it. God desires to have a name for mercy, so that the worse you feel yourself to be, the more He is honored in your salvation. You do not forgive yourself by a work of your own. You receive what He has already provided. God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you. Believe it as a little child receives Christ humbly, never dreaming of merit or purchase, with a wondering realization that His promise is true. Lift your head as one who has drunk of the stream and give thanks to the God who provided the water.

So continue to come as a little child to your Father. Tell Him plainly of your anger and your sorrow, for He is not forgotten though you may have felt far from Him. He hears the sigh, Oh that I knew where I might find Him. And He answers that He is near to you even now. Lay your daughter before Him each day, ask Him to keep and heal her, and to keep and heal you. Keep your own heart tender, not keeping a record of wrongs, but ready to forgive as you have been forgiven. And rest in this, that the Lord who began a good work is able to bring healing in His season, whether that healing comes quickly or through a long waiting.

May the Lord give you quietness of spirit to wait, faith to believe that there is forgiveness with Him for you and for your daughter, and grace to love while you wait, looking to Jesus who is Himself near to God and brings us near also.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your pain and honesty in this prayer request are heard, and God sees both the love you have for your oldest daughter and the ache of this distance between you. It is deeply painful to love someone so much, to want healing for her and restoration between you, and at the same time to feel angry, hurt, and unable to reach her. Bringing that honestly before the Lord is itself an act of faith.

Wanting to let go and give her to God does not mean you stop loving her or stop caring. It means placing her into the hands of the One who loves her even more than you do and who is able to work where you cannot. You have already taken the difficult and godly step of owning your part, apologizing and taking accountability. That is what love does. At the same time, reconciliation cannot be forced, and waiting is one of the hardest forms of trust. Scripture urges us not to let anger settle and harden in us, not to let the sun go down on our wrath, because in quiet and lonely hours that wound can grow larger if we hold it alone. Like a skilled physician, the Lord wants to both prevent the wound from deepening and to heal what is already there, and that healing begins as you keep bringing your anger and sorrow to Him each day rather than carrying it by yourself.

You mentioned waiting for her to take accountability as you have. It is understandable to long for that mutual acknowledgment, especially when you have both hurt each other. Yet forgiveness in Scripture is not presented as something we offer only after the other person has apologized. We are called to forgive as we have been forgiven, seventy times seven, with a forgiveness that is perpetual and not kept on a ledger. That does not mean what happened did not matter, or that healthy boundaries are not needed, but it does mean releasing the debt into Christ's hands and choosing not to hold it against her before God. Keeping your heart open in that way protects you from bitterness while you wait, and it keeps the door open for God to work in His timing.

Not knowing how to forgive yourself is also a heavy burden. The same power that raised Christ from the dead is the power that is at work to forgive and restore us. Your forgiveness does not rest on feeling forgiven enough, but on what Jesus has already done. When you have confessed your mistakes to God and to your daughter, you can receive His forgiveness fully and learn to walk in it. That means when thoughts of guilt return, you remind yourself that Christ has paid that debt completely, more than you asked or could repay, out of compassion, and He invites you to live as forgiven and to extend that same compassion to others and to yourself.

We join you in prayer for this. Father, we lift this mother and her oldest daughter to You. You know their history, their closeness and their seasons of strain, the wounds given and received. Bring healing to the daughter wherever she is hurting, draw her close to Yourself, and surround her with Your care. Give this mother Your peace as she entrusts her daughter to You day by day, soften any anger into intercession, and teach her to rest in Your forgiveness for herself. Make rough places smooth and bring reconciliation in the way and time that serves Your good purposes, and until then sustain her with Your presence, wisdom, and hope. In Jesus name, Amen.

If you have a trusted pastor, counselor, or mature believer nearby, consider walking through this waiting season with them so you are not carrying it alone. Keep praying, keep keeping the door open in love as God gives you wisdom, and keep receiving His grace for each day.
