Daughter

I would really appreciate your prayers at this time.
I'm worried about my daughter. She has met someone who wants a relationship with her. He has messed her around three times . I don't really like the sound of this person. Also she is not a practicing catholic.

We hear the burden on your heart for your daughter and we join you in bringing her before the Lord in prayer, seeking His will together in Jesus' name.

We understand your concern about this young man who has already messed her around three times. That pattern is troubling and it reveals something about his character and intentions. Scripture teaches us to guard our hearts with diligence, for out of it are the issues of life, Proverbs 4:23. A relationship that begins with instability, inconsistency, and disrespect is not a foundation for the kind of godly courtship that honors God. We believe that being a boyfriend or girlfriend should be considered courtship with the clear goal of marriage to another Christian believer, and that marriage is a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman that reflects Christ and the church. We encourage you to lovingly counsel your daughter that she is worthy of a relationship that is marked by steadiness, honor, and Christlike love, not one where she is pursued and then disregarded. As it is written, Do not be deceived. Evil companionships corrupt good morals, 1 Corinthians 15:33, and, Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship has righteousness and iniquity? Or what fellowship has light with darkness? 2 Corinthians 6:14. If this man does not know Christ and does not seek to honor God with purity and commitment, he is not a suitable husband for her, and any physical intimacy outside of marriage would be fornication which God calls us to flee from. We pray she will have wisdom to see this clearly and the courage to walk away from what does not align with God's best for her.

You also mention that she is not a practicing Catholic, and this concerns you. We want to gently share that our hope is not found in a religious label or in faithfully practicing a denomination, but in a living, personal faith in Jesus Christ alone. To be a Christian is to be born again, to repent of sin and to trust fully in Jesus as Lord and Savior. Many who identify with a church tradition have not yet entered into that personal relationship. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me, John 14:6. And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12. We noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to remind you that it is only through His name that we have access to God in prayer and the assurance of eternal life. If your daughter has not yet placed her personal trust in Him, our greatest prayer for her is not simply that she returns to religious practice, but that she would confess with her mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in her heart that God raised Him from the dead, Romans 10:9, and so be saved.

We pray together for her now.

Father, we lift this precious daughter to You in the name of Jesus Christ. We ask that You draw her to Yourself, open her eyes to Your truth and Your love, and give her a hunger for Your Word and for a personal walk with Jesus. Lord, protect her heart from deception and from emotional harm. Give her discernment to recognize when a relationship is not from You, and give her strength to set biblical boundaries. We pray that if it is Your will, You would bring into her life a godly husband, a man who loves You first and will love her as Christ loves the church, who will pursue marriage with honor and purity. For her mother who is worried, we ask for Your peace that surpasses all understanding, and for wisdom to speak the truth in love without driving her daughter away. Guide this mother to trust You with her daughter's future, knowing that You have plans for her. For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future, Jeremiah 29:11. And we claim Your promise that You will instruct us and teach us in the way we shall go, and counsel us with Your eye on us, Psalm 32:8. We ask all of this in the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and mediator, amen.

We encourage you to continue to pray fervently for her, to keep the lines of communication open with gentleness and grace, and to model and share the gospel of Jesus Christ with her, not merely as religion but as new life in Him. Trust the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight, Proverbs 3:5-6.

We hear the weight you are carrying for your daughter right now, and how hard it is to watch someone you love get pulled into a relationship that already feels unsteady.

It makes sense you would feel uneasy after he has let her down three times. You want to protect her, and at the same time you want to stay close enough that she will still talk to you honestly. That tension is so difficult for a parent.

One thing that often helps in this kind of situation is keeping the door open for calm, listening conversations. It can be more effective to share your concern clearly once, in a quiet moment, and then focus on asking gentle, open questions about how she is feeling and what she is noticing, rather than repeating warnings that can make a young adult pull away. Staying a safe, steady place for her to come to gives her room to think more clearly for herself. And continuing to love her while you pray for her faith journey, without pressure, lets God work in His timing.

We are joining you in prayer for wisdom for both of you and for peace in your home as you walk through this.

Father, we lift this mother and her daughter to You. Give this mom wisdom to know when to speak and when to listen, and give her daughter clarity to see this relationship honestly and to know her own worth. Draw her closer to You and guide her steps. Guard their relationship with each other and bring peace to this worry. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your love for your daughter is evident and we join you in bringing her before the Lord in prayer. We have heard your burden concerning the man who has sought her affection and yet has dealt with her unsteadily three times, and concerning her present distance from the practice of faith, and we take both matters seriously before God.

There is wisdom in your unease. A relationship that begins with inconsistency and with one being messed around is not a foundation for the lifelong covenant that marriage is meant to be, one man and one woman bound together before God. Love that is worthy of that covenant is steady, self denying and protective, not wavering and careless with another's heart. We will not ask God to bless an unsettled or unholy attachment, but we will pray that the Lord will grant your daughter clarity, strength and protection, that she may see this person truly and be kept from harm, and that if this is not of the Lord, she may be given grace to turn aside from it. Above all we pray she may be kept in purity, for that which belongs within marriage alone is not to be sought outside it.

We also hear your sorrow that she is not walking in faith. The word that the Lord sends to the wandering is not at first a word of condemnation but a tender and repeated call, Return, return, return. It is a call to return now, not tomorrow, to her first simple faith, to drop down into the arms of Christ Himself. For faith is not mere outward observance, but trust in Christ, the essence of it being to cast oneself wholly upon Him for salvation. Without that faith none are saved, with it, even though it be but as a grain of mustard seed, there is life, for little faith is still true faith and is precious in the sight of God, and great faith prevails even for our children.

Therefore we pray with you, as a mother who would see her daughter made whole. May the Lord take for her the shield of faith, to quench every fiery dart, to preserve her from the liberty of sin which promises freedom and gives bondage, and to make her sincere and steadfast. May He stir in her true repentance and true faith, which are twins born together, so that she would abhor what is evil and cleave to Christ, and may He give you, who loves her, a growing confidence to keep praying, for the prayer breathed in secret with little faith is heard by Him who sees when the prodigal first begins to return.

Let us pray together. O Lord our God, look in mercy upon this daughter. Thou knowest her heart and her ways, and Thou seest this relationship that has brought confusion and unsteadiness. Grant her discernment to judge rightly, courage to do what is holy, and a hatred for what would harm her soul. Keep her from all sin and from all that would lead her from Thee. Call her by Thy grace to return unto Thyself, to trust in Jesus Christ alone for forgiveness and life, and to walk in holiness before Thee. Comfort her mother with peace, and help her to continue in prayer, trusting not in outward form but in Christ who is able to save to the uttermost. We ask this not for our will but for Thine, and for her eternal good, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

We have received your prayer request and we join you in bringing your daughter before the Lord in this anxious time.

It is right to be concerned when someone has shown a pattern of treating her poorly. To mess her around three times is not a small matter, it reveals character, and love is meant to be steady, faithful and protective, not confusing or harmful. We will pray that God gives your daughter clear eyes to see this pattern for what it is, wisdom to set healthy boundaries, and strength to not return to what has hurt her. We will not ask God to bless a relationship that is unstable or unkind, but we will ask Him to protect her, to guard her heart, and to lead her according to His good will for marriage as a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, where love is faithful and self giving.

We also hear your concern that she is not practicing her faith. This is the deepest part of the concern, because without a living faith in Jesus Christ, the heart is left without its true anchor. Faith is not only a name or a background, it is trusting that God is and that He rewards those who seek Him, lifting the soul above mere feelings and the pressures of the moment to walk with Him. We will pray that the Lord draws her to Himself, that she would come to know salvation through Jesus Christ alone and find in Him the life and forgiveness that no human relationship can give.

Take encouragement from the Scriptures, where the earnest faith of a parent contributed greatly to the healing of a child. Your prayers for your daughter matter before God. As Christ said to the woman who came in fear, be of good cheer, your faith has made you whole. Bring your daughter to Him daily with that same persistent, generous faith.

We are praying that God will comfort you, give you peace as you wait on Him, and give you grace to speak the truth to your daughter in love, without pushing her away, while holding fast to what is right. May He work in her heart to hunger for Him again and to desire relationships that honor Him.

Father in heaven, we lift this mother and her daughter to You. Have mercy and draw this young woman to Yourself through Jesus Christ, grant her repentance and living faith, protect her from harm and from a relationship that would not be for her good, and grant her wisdom and purity. Give her mother peace, courage and loving words, and let Your will be done in both their lives. In Jesus name, Amen.

Your concern for your daughter is understandable and it is good that you are bringing her to the Lord in prayer.

Worry itself does not help us and it does not change the situation. Jesus taught that worry has no real value and that faith and worry work against each other. He pointed to the lilies of the field to show how the Father cares for what He has made, and He reminded us that most of our worry is about tomorrow. He said not to worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will take care of itself, and to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, trusting that He will take care of the rest. As you keep turning your heart toward Him, that trust can replace the heaviness of constant worry.

Prayer rests on relationship. Jesus taught us to pray saying Our Father, and that relationship is meant to be close and personal, like a child with a loving father. Some people struggle with the picture of God as Father because their own experience with a father was painful, but God invites us to know Him as a true Father who loves and cares deeply. He does not want only an outward or ritual connection with us, where we try to keep rules to earn His favor. He wants a living and loving relationship, with His ways written on our hearts, because we have come to know Him through Jesus Christ and are known by Him. That is the greatest need for your daughter, more than any human relationship. To know Jesus personally, to be forgiven and made new through Him, and to walk closely with Him, is what will bring clarity and strength to every other area of life.

That is why it is right to pray first for her relationship with the Lord, that she would come to know Him or return to Him with her whole heart, and experience His love and guidance for herself.

It is also right to pray for wisdom and discernment about this young man. A relationship that honors God will be marked by consistency, respect, honesty and care, not by being messed around or treated as less than valuable. Scripture shows that God created us for committed and faithful love, and marriage itself is meant to be a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman, with love and intimacy kept within that covenant. A pattern of being treated poorly three times is a serious warning sign, and it does not reflect the kind of love that builds up and protects. You can pray that your daughter will see her own worth in God's eyes, that she will have strength to set healthy boundaries, and that she will not settle for a connection that devalues her or pulls her away from what is good.

We will join you in prayer that the Lord will draw your daughter to Himself, that she will experience His fatherly love in a real and personal way through Jesus, that He will give her clear eyes to see this relationship as it is, and that He will give you peace as you trust Him with her future. We pray that He will guard her heart, lead her into what is wise and wholesome, and help you to keep seeking Him first while leaving tomorrow in His hands.

Thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf and for your daughter. We are glad that you asked us to stand in agreement with you in prayer during this worrying time as a parent.

We have continued to lift up your daughter before the Lord in Jesus Name. We have been praying that God would surround her with His protection and give her wisdom and discernment regarding this relationship. We ask the Lord to give her clarity to see this person and the situation clearly, especially since he has messed her around three times, and to give her strength to set healthy boundaries and to value herself as God values her. We pray that if this relationship is not what is best for her, God will make that clear and give her the courage to walk away, and that He will guard her heart from hurt and confusion.

We are also joining you in prayer for her faith. We pray in Jesus Name that the Lord will draw her close to Himself and that she will seek Him with all her heart and come to know His love and guidance more deeply. We are asking God to place people and influences in her life that will point her toward Him and to open her heart to His truth and grace. We claim the promise of Proverbs 3:5-6 and Psalm 32:8 over her, that God will direct her paths and instruct her in the way she should go.

If your request was answered, please post a praise report and let us all know so we can rejoice with you. If your request does not seem to have been answered, please post it again as a new request and allow us to continue with you in prayer. We are committed to continuing to stand with you and your daughter in prayer.

May God bless you as you continue to seek Him through His son, Jesus Christ. We pray this in Jesus Name.
