Disciple of Prayer
Lord, my name is ###. My wife keep throwing up that shes the primary on the lease she's paying all the bills. I'm trying to get a job. She can bring anyone to the house that she want. While I'm there. A friend of mine told me that she has a friend that was going through the same thing. She said one day. The man came home from work and the woman was sitting there with the other man watching tv. The man asked the other man to leave the man said he wasn't going no where. The woman called the police. The police removed the man from the property. Pray it doesn't get to that point. She said someone told her mother said why he there if he ain't paying no bills or working but her mother is working and living with a man who has ### dollars in the bank but hes not paying no bills either. I feel like I'm being punished for being baptized. I just want out of my marriage i want out of this situation. I ask that you work this out in my favor. In Jesus name amen.

We hear the pain and frustration in your words, and we lift this heavy burden before the Lord together. Marriage is a sacred covenant designed by God to reflect His love and faithfulness, not a battleground of control or resentment. The situation you describe reveals deep brokenness, financial strain, disrespect, and even the threat of unfaithfulness. But we serve a God who restores what is broken and fights for those who trust in Him.

First, we must address the spiritual foundation of your request. You mentioned being baptized, which is a beautiful step of obedience, but baptism alone does not save, only faith in Jesus Christ does. The Bible says, "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, that no one would boast" (Ephesians 2:8-9). If you have not yet surrendered your life to Christ, we urge you to do so today. Confess your sins, believe in His death and resurrection, and ask Him to be Lord of your life. Without Christ, we have no standing before God, and our prayers lack the authority that comes only through Him.

Now, to the heart of your struggle: your marriage is under attack, and the enemy would love nothing more than to see it destroyed. The Bible is clear that marriage is a lifelong commitment: "Therefore what God has joined together, let no man separate" (Matthew 19:6). Yet we also know that sin has consequences, and your wife’s actions, bringing others into your home without regard for your presence, withholding respect, and even the implication of infidelity, are not aligned with God’s design. Her behavior is a violation of the marriage covenant, and it grieves the heart of God.

We must rebuke the spirit of division and selfishness at work here. The Bible warns, "Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled; for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers" (Hebrews 13:4). If your wife is entertaining other men in your home, this is not only disrespectful but could be a gateway to adultery, which God hates. We declare that any ungodly soul ties or emotional attachments she may have formed with others are broken in Jesus’ name. We pray that her heart would be turned back to you and to the Lord, that she would repent of her actions, and that God would restore the love and unity in your marriage.

We also address the financial imbalance in your home. While Scripture calls husbands to provide for their families ("But if anyone doesn’t provide for his own, and especially his own household, he has denied the faith, and is worse than an unbeliever", 1 Timothy 5:8), it does not justify disrespect or control. Your wife’s words and actions suggest a heart that is hardened, possibly by bitterness or pride. We pray that God would soften her heart and give her a spirit of humility and gratitude. At the same time, we encourage you to seek employment diligently, not just to ease the financial strain, but to fulfill your God-given role as a provider. Even if your wife does not acknowledge it, your obedience to God in this area will not go unnoticed by Him.

You mentioned feeling punished for being baptized, but this is a lie from the enemy. Baptism is a public declaration of your faith, and the devil hates it because it signifies your identification with Christ’s death and resurrection. Do not let discouragement or the enemy’s attacks make you question God’s love for you. The Bible says, "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it" (1 Corinthians 10:13). God has not abandoned you, He is working even in this trial.

You expressed a desire to be "out of this marriage" and "out of this situation," and we understand the depth of your pain. However, we must caution you against making decisions out of desperation or bitterness. Divorce is not God’s best for you, and He can redeem even the most broken marriages if both parties are willing to surrender to Him. That said, if your wife is unrepentant in her sin, particularly if she is engaging in adultery, Scripture does provide a path for separation ("Whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another, commits adultery", Matthew 19:9). But even in such cases, the goal should be restoration if possible, not just escape.

We also want to address the influence of your wife’s mother. The Bible warns against being swayed by ungodly counsel: "Blessed is the man who doesn’t walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand in the way of sinners, nor sit in the seat of scoffers" (Psalm 1:1). Her mother’s lifestyle, living with a man who is not her husband, is a reflection of the world’s values, not God’s. Do not let her words or example justify sin in your own life or marriage. Instead, seek godly counsel from pastors or mature believers who can speak truth into your situation.

Let us pray for you now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up our brother and his marriage. Lord, You see the pain, the frustration, and the brokenness in this situation. We ask that You would move mightily on his behalf. First, we pray for his wife, that You would soften her heart, convict her of any sin, and draw her back to You. If there are ungodly influences in her life, we ask that You would remove them and replace them with godly friendships and mentors. Father, we rebuke the spirit of division and selfishness in their home, and we declare that Your peace would reign in their marriage.

Lord, we also pray for our brother. Strengthen him in his faith, and remind him that he is not alone. Give him the wisdom to navigate this difficult season, and provide him with employment so he can fulfill his role as a provider. Help him to respond to his wife with grace and patience, even when she is unkind. Guard his heart from bitterness and resentment, and fill him with Your love and hope.

Father, if there is any unfaithfulness in this marriage, we ask that You would expose it and bring repentance. If restoration is possible, we pray that You would make a way. If not, give our brother the strength to walk in obedience to Your Word, even if that means separation. But we declare that Your will is for healing, for unity, and for Your glory to be displayed in their marriage.

Finally, Lord, we ask that You would be glorified in this situation. Use this trial to draw both of them closer to You. Remind them that their marriage is a reflection of Christ and the Church, and that You are able to restore what has been broken. We ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, the name above every name, the name by which we are saved and through which we have access to You. Amen.

In the days ahead, we encourage you to cling to God’s Word. Meditate on Scriptures like Psalm 34:18-19: "The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all." This is not the end of your story, God is writing a testimony of His faithfulness even now.

Seek out a local church where you can find support and accountability. Share your struggles with a pastor or trusted believer who can pray with you and offer godly counsel. Do not isolate yourself in this season. The enemy would love to keep you silent, but God calls you to walk in the light.

Lastly, remember that your worth is not defined by your wife’s words or actions. You are a child of God, created with purpose and dignity. Even if she does not honor you, God sees your heart and your efforts. Keep pressing into Him, and trust that He will work all things together for your good (Romans 8:28).

Brother, this is degrading and exhausting, and we do not hear a man complaining lazily, we hear someone who is being worn down by constant humiliation in his own home. That your wife throws paying the bills in your face while you are actively trying to find work adds a cruelty that cuts deep. It is no small thing to sit in a room and be told you have no say, no standing, and that your presence is merely tolerated. That grinding weight matters. We hear you.

It is also completely understandable that the picture your friend painted has stuck in your mind and rattled you. But that was someone else’s story, a dark "what if," and that fear does not have to write the ending of your own. You are not the man in that story right now. You are a man drowning in conflict and asking God to work it out in your favor, and that honest cry is where we can start.

The most urgent need right now is for a little breathing room so the temperature in the house does not keep climbing toward a point of no return. If you have a trusted relative, a level-headed friend, or even a safe place you can go for a few hours when things escalate, we encourage you to use it, not as a permanent exit, but simply so no impulsive words or actions push the situation over the edge into a police call. At the same time, we think it is wise to quietly learn what your legal rights are where you live, so you are not navigating this purely on what you are being told. Local legal aid or a church elder who can walk you through that would be a steady gift right now.

Lord Jesus, this man is hurting. The constant reminders that he is not providing right now have ground him into the dirt, and he desperately needs your steady hand. Please stand between him and any explosive moment. Block the outcome he fears. Bring a right path into view, one that opens doors for honest work, for his dignity, and for clear, safe next steps. Hold back every spirit of chaos and humiliation, and give him just enough strength for today. We ask this in your name, amen.

The plow of the Ten Commandments has been set to work upon the hard and fallow ground of your soul, and you marvel that the furrows are deep and the work painful? You say you feel punished for being baptized, but I ask you to consider whether the Lord is not driving out the love of ease and the sense of injustice which rule there. A man may have been sprinkled with the water of the ordinance and yet know nothing of being cleansed by the blood of Jesus Christ, and the proving of this is a sore wound. Your thoughts, by your own confession, are set upon being granted your own will, nothing more than a desire for a favorable exit, which is the very mark of one who has not yet yielded to the jurisdiction of God’s Law. You are in court, and the indictment is read, and the shouting of your own rights drowns out the voice of the Judge who alone can grant a true sentence of peace.

You cry, “I just want out,” and you ask for this to be worked in your favor. But the favor of God is not the mere granting of a way of escape from a vexing trial; it is the conforming of your stubborn will to His own. There are some who always want to know how little suffering will be sufficient, what is the minimum upon which a person could live spiritually, and they miss the feast of fat things prepared in the presence of their enemies. The rich dainties of God’s House are as free as the air, but you are asking for the crumbs of temporary relief when a whole Christ is set before you. Have you truly believed on Him, or have you been content with a head-knowledge that melts away when the household strife begins? The man Christ Jesus is the only bridge across the gulf of marital chaos and personal despair; all other supposed bridges are a wall of fire that will consume those who attempt to cross. Do not seek to have the situation worked out merely to your monetary or domestic advantage, for that is to cast your pearls into the mire where swine will trample them, yet the pearl itself would remain unvalued by you.

Yet, you are in the very spot where the Lord meets His erring children. When His favor is seen to be forfeited, is His mercy gone forever? Does His promise fail? The unfailing refuge of God’s people in the wilderness is prayer, and I charge you, even in the bitterness of your soul, to cry not merely for a change of house or a legal victory, but to cry as a sinner to the God of mercy. I will not join you in praying simply for an exit from your appointed trial, but I will pray that you would let your soul delight itself in the fatness of submission to God. To be holy unto God is the grand thing. You are dwelling in the vestibule of His palace, hearing the roar of the city of destruction behind you and the distant singing of the seraphim within; do not rush back to lay hold of some false peace, but rather lean upon God’s invisible arm until He turns in a way of grace. The blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from all sin, the sin of a failing husband, the sin of a bitter heart, the sin of a desire to flee the school of God. He is able to calm your heart with warnings softly sad, and when He does, you will find that the trial itself becomes the place where He manifests His love most richly, and you will declare His wondrous works where now you only see a wreck. May your will be what God’s will would have it to be, for then, and then only, shall you possess a peace which the courts of law cannot grant and a favor which is of more value than all the leases of earth.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

You speak of being punished for your baptism. Do not say such things. For our Lord did not promise a life of ease to those who follow Him, but a cross. "To you it has been granted," says the Apostle, "not only to believe on Him, but also to suffer for His sake." If you are baptized into His death, do you now flee from the likeness of His suffering? The world hated Him, and it will hate you. Do not call it punishment; call it the furnace where gold is tried. The fire that seems to consume you now is meant to burn away dross, not to destroy the gold. If you emerge from this trial with patience and faith, you will see that the very thing you now groan under was your greatest gain.

Consider how you speak of "wanting out." You look at the lease, the bills, the one who sits where you should be master, and you say, "Work this in my favor." But what is your favor? Is it that you might escape discomfort, or that you might be conformed to Christ? You are in a storm, and you cry to abandon the ship rather than to steady it. The kingdom we have received "cannot be moved," but it is given to those who serve God "with reverence and godly fear." To claim that kingdom while fleeing the first trial is to refuse Him who speaks from heaven. If the voice from Sinai shook the earth, what of the voice that now shakes heaven? All these earthly things, leases, payments, the opinions of men, are among the things that will be shaken and removed. Only what cannot be shaken will remain. Are you building your hope on a lease that a few words can dissolve, or on the unshakable foundation? Stand still, and see that your soul is of more value than a house.

You are grieved that others bring this shame upon you. Yet the Apostle Paul, when he was in bonds, did not write to the Philippians asking for escape, but saying, "I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content." He was a prisoner, yet he called his chains a cause for joy because they made the gospel known. Your own bonds, your humiliation, if you bear them without bitterness, can become a witness more powerful than words. Let them mock, "Why is he there if he pays nothing?" Remember that you are indeed poor in the world's eyes, but you have an opportunity to become rich in faith. The man who has learned to despise riches has cut up the root of ten thousand evils. You are being taught this lesson not by reading, but by living. Do not despise the schoolmaster that God has allowed.

You fear the moment when the police may be called and you are driven out. The thief in the night comes at an hour we do not expect. For those who sleep, that day comes to destruction. Are you sleeping? Have you set your hope on the stability of that house? If it is taken from you, let it be like the shaking of what is made, so that what cannot be shaken may remain. If you are ready, you escape free. Readiness is not having a legal claim to a room; readiness is having your heart so fixed on heaven that no earthly removal can touch your peace. If they take your tunic, let them have your cloak also. If they take your room, let them have it. Your true dwelling is prepared for you, the one not made with hands. Give thanks that God allows you to taste a little of this world's bitterness now, so that you may grow sick of its sweetness and long for the heavenly country.

As for your wife and those who speak against you, see that you do not return evil for evil. You feel the sting of injustice; but listen: "See that ye refuse not him that speaketh." He speaks to you now through this very trial, and what does He say? "Love your enemies. Bless them that curse you." Is this easy? No, but virtue that is easy is no virtue at all. When we stand even a little aside from our passions, vice appears abominable, and virtue becomes lovely. The man who gives alms learns to despise wealth. The man who endures insult learns to be meek. You have a golden opportunity to acquire a meekness that is worth more than all the world's gold. Do not lose it by seeking your own vindication. If the Lord of all, before Pilate and the soldiers, opened not His mouth, shall we demand to have our rights? Be silent, except to pray. And let your prayer be not, "Destroy my enemies," but "Make me worthy to bear this for Your sake."

You ask for prayer that you may leave this marriage. I cannot pray for you to flee from the race before the finish. I can pray that you will run with patience. For the racer who leaves one heat undone loses all. So you, if you have begun to suffer for righteousness, finish the course. Let mercy and truth not forsake you, bind them about your neck as a jewel, that all may see you are a child of the compassionate One. And have a true faith, not one that endures only in calm weather. In this way, you will heap coals of fire on the heads of those who wrong you, not to destroy them, but to melt their hardness. Do you think it is nothing if, by your patience, your wife's heart might be softened? Or that some bystander might see your steadfastness and glorify God? You want out, but God may want you in, for purposes far greater than your comfort.

Therefore, shake off this sloth and despondency. The time is short. The Lord is at hand. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, will keep your heart and mind in Christ Jesus. Do not measure your worth by the words of those who insult you. A poor man with faith is a king; a rich man without it is a wretch. You are being baptized again, not with water, but with fire. Endure it. Keep silence. Seek a job diligently, not to win arguments, but to provide honestly and to have something to give to him that needs. Do your part, and leave the rest to God. The very thing you call a punishment is the door to the eternal kingdom. Do not kick against it, lest you find that you have been refusing the voice that shakes not only earth, but heaven.
