I went today & didn't feel nervous, maybe that's because I woke up early & we took the dog for a walk on the way there, didn't end up going all the way, but I still got to church.

I felt like the sermon spoke to me as it was about waiting, but then again it's not like repentance, so pray for God's presence to be felt & for His voice to be heard clearly in my church, so clear that people are convicted, so clear that the sermon is straight out of God's mouth, so clear that we know His voice, so clear that He humbles us.

Thank you to anyone who replies or prays for me, God bless you

We rejoice with you that you were able to attend church today, and we see the hand of God already at work in your willingness to draw near to Him. It is no small thing to step into a place of worship, and we thank the Lord for the peace you experienced in doing so. The sermon on waiting resonated with you, and this too is evidence of the Holy Spirit’s gentle leading. Waiting is not passive, it is an active posture of trust, surrender, and expectation in the Lord’s perfect timing.

Yet we hear your deeper longing, not just for sermons that speak to the heart, but for the very voice of God to thunder through His Word, for conviction to pierce souls, and for humility to break pride. This is a holy desire, one that aligns with Scripture. Jesus said, "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me" (John 10:27). The early church in Acts 2 experienced such a moment when Peter’s sermon, empowered by the Holy Spirit, cut hearts to the quick, and three thousand were saved in a single day (Acts 2:37-41). This is the kind of clarity and power you are asking for, where the Word is not merely taught but lived, where preaching is not just eloquent but anointed, and where the presence of God is so tangible that no one leaves unchanged.

We must also address a concern in your words: you mentioned that the sermon was not about repentance, yet repentance is the very foundation of the Christian life. Jesus began His ministry with the call, "Repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand!" (Matthew 4:17). Without repentance, there is no true transformation, no deep conviction, and no lasting revival. We pray that your church would not shy away from this essential truth but would boldly proclaim it, for "God’s kindness leads you to repentance" (Romans 2:4). May the sermons preached in your midst be unapologetically biblical, calling sinners to turn from their ways and saints to walk in holiness.

Let us also examine our own hearts in this. Revival does not begin in the pulpit, it begins in the pew. Are we, as individuals, seeking the Lord with fasting and prayer? Are we humbling ourselves before Him, confessing our sins, and interceding for our pastors and leaders? James 4:8-10 says, "Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Lament, mourn, and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he will exalt you." Revival is birthed in brokenness. If we want to hear God’s voice clearly in our churches, we must first fall on our faces before Him in our private lives.

Now, let us come before the throne of grace together in prayer:

Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your faithfulness to draw near to those who seek You. We lift up our brother/sister in Christ, who longs to hear Your voice clearly in their church. Lord, we ask that You would fill the pulpit with Your Spirit, that every sermon preached would be straight from Your heart, cutting through religious noise and piercing souls with conviction. Raise up pastors and teachers who are not afraid to preach repentance, holiness, and the full counsel of Your Word. Let Your presence be so tangible in the sanctuary that no one can leave unchanged. Humble us, Lord, humble our pastors, our leaders, and every believer in the pews. Break our pride, soften our hearts, and ignite a passion for You that cannot be quenched.

We pray for a spirit of intercession to fall upon Your people. Teach us to pray as the early church did, with fervency, with expectation, and with unity. Let Your Word go forth with power, and let signs, wonders, and miracles follow as confirmation of Your truth. May the lost be saved, the lukewarm reignited, and the broken healed. Let Your voice be unmistakable, Lord, so that all who hear will know it is You speaking.

Father, we also ask that You would guard our hearts from complacency. Help us not to settle for sermons that merely tickle our ears but to hunger for the meat of Your Word. Give us discernment to recognize Your voice and the courage to obey it. May our churches be houses of prayer, houses of repentance, and houses of revival. Let Your glory fill the sanctuary as it filled the temple in the days of old.

We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the Name above every name, the only Name by which we can be saved. For there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). It is in His name that we have access to You, Father, and it is through His blood that we can boldly approach Your throne. We declare that Jesus is Lord over our churches, our lives, and our nation. May His kingdom come and His will be done in our midst, as it is in heaven.

In Jesus’ precious and powerful name we pray, Amen.

We're so glad that your walk to church with the dog helped settle your nerves. That simple rhythm of waking early and moving slowly into the morning often makes space for us to show up more openly, and it sounds like the sermon met you right where you are.

There’s something deep in what you're asking for. You’re not just hoping for a well‑prepared message; you’re longing for a moment when everyone present senses that the words are God’s own, clear enough to convict, close enough to humble. That desire itself is a prayer God honors, because he loves to speak to his people. The same God whose voice broke through creation still meets us in ordinary gatherings, sometimes in ways so personal it catches us off guard.

One thing you can do between now and next Sunday is carry that readiness forward. Before you leave the house, pause and ask God to give your pastor clarity and courage, and to make your own heart soft to what he says. And when you sense a word landing personally, maybe jot it down and sit with it later. You'll be surprised how that grows your ability to recognize his voice.

Father, thank you that you are not silent, and that you draw near when we gather in Jesus' name. We ask for your presence to rest unmistakably on this church. Let your voice be heard so clearly that minds are awakened, hearts are convicted, and every soul bends lower in humility before you. Guard the preacher from impure motives or mere skill; speak, and let your people know it's you. And for our friend, keep calming anxious thoughts and deepening their confidence that you are at work among them. In Jesus' name, amen.

The mere letter of the Word, alone, will kill, but when we hear God's voice speaking in it, then it has power which it could not possess otherwise. It is a blessed thing to put your ear down to the promises of Scripture till you hear God speaking through them to your soul. This is what you crave, and it is a right craving.

We are blessed in having the privilege of listening to God's Word. Yet our responsibilities concerning the Word do not end with hearing it. Hearing is not enough. The sermon may have been about waiting, but waiting without repentance is a lost man's pause on the road to ruin. The Spirit must go with the Word of God, or it is so much wasted breath.

I have been wondering in my soul whether there would stray into this Tabernacle some kindred case, and whether the voice of man might be tonight the voice of the Messenger of the Covenant to some poor soul. It is a glorious thing when a soul starts up to that conviction, "I am not alone, I am not friendless, after all. There is a God and a God who sees me and who takes such notice of me that He speaks to me." Cry unto God with your voice, you will find it helpful in private prayer to use the voice. With your voice do you cry unto God? Then expect deliverance from Him.

God's voice made the heavens and the earth. A single word from Him will win the day. When He speaks, it is straight out of His mouth, and it humbles us indeed. But know this: they are God's hidden ones who belong to Him. Sinner though you are, if you come beneath the Cross and trustingly look up to God's dear Son, you shall be saved. The blood of Jesus Christ, God's dear Son, cleanses us from all sin. Look into His side and see there the sacred mystery of God's hatred for sin, a hatred so deep that He spared not His own Son. Yet read Christ's witness to God's love. His voice still says, "Come unto Me, all you that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."

Make your lives clear. Be as the brook where you may see every stone at the bottom, not as the muddy creek of which you only see the surface, but clear and transparent, so that your heart's love to God and man may be distinctly visible to all. Go out from this assembly asking, "Am I God's witness?" He who made the heavens loves you. He who made the earth bought you with His blood and Heaven would not be complete without you.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

The longing you have for God’s voice to be heard with such clarity that it humbles and convicts is itself a work of grace. That very hunger is a sign that the head of virtue, humility, is already being formed in you. For a contrite heart is a sacrifice God will not despise, and His eyes are ever upon the meek.

Do not measure His presence only by sudden or overwhelming feeling. In these days, God speaks not through blackness and terror, as He once did on the mountain when the people begged not to hear His voice directly. He speaks through flesh, through the Mediator, with a gentleness more awesome because it is so accessible. That sermon about waiting, which you felt was not repentance, may have been the very voice you sought, quietly refashioning your heart. Repentance often grows in the soil of patient waiting, where we learn to stop sparing our own comfort and hold fast to His laws for no other reward than His approval.

You walked the dog, you went as far as you could, and you came to the assembly. That simple obedience, offered to God, is seen. He is not ashamed to acknowledge even the smallest acts done for His sake. When you feel you are waiting or unseen, remember that to be humbled or even overlooked for God’s honor has a glory greater than any earthly crown. The clear voice you pray for may already be working: in the quiet persistence that brought you there, in the neighbor you greet without fanfare, in the sermon that keeps its seed hidden for a time. Trust that He who elected you is faithful, and no charge can stand against those He has chosen.

It is a gift that you were able to enter the gathering without that familiar nervousness, and that the morning’s simple routines helped settle your heart. When a sermon about waiting lands squarely on your spirit, it is often evidence that God is already doing something deeper than the surface of the moment. The longing you have for God’s presence to be felt and His voice to be heard clearly is not a small request. In fact, it echoes the deep cry of someone who knows that a church is not defined by a location but by being in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. You are asking for the reality of that, and that is a prayer God honors.

Your desire for sermons that come straight from the mouth of God and humble us is a serious matter. The presence of God is not a tame thing; it is a consuming fire against everything false and unrighteous within us. To ask for a clear, convicting voice is to ask for a holy disruption. That kind of clarity cuts through our pretenses and leaves no room for our flesh to glory in His presence. When the Word is taught with power, it does exactly what you are describing. It convinces hearts of the truth, not through human cleverness, but because faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. Keep praying for your church to be filled with that kind of prophetic teaching that builds up, exhorts, and comforts, leaving everyone aware that God is truly among you.

What you are sensing about waiting and conviction being linked is accurate. Waiting is not passive emptiness; it is the patience of a confident hope, trusting God to work in His own time without us stepping in to try and help Him out. The very fact that your heart is stirred to pray for others to hear God’s voice clearly shows that He is already working on your end of the equation. Quite often, when we begin to cry out for God to speak to a group, He has already been stirring the message in someone else’s heart and confirming it in ours. You can be sure that God always works on both ends, preparing the speaker and the hearer alike.

Do not be afraid of the conviction you are praying for, because the righteous basis for it has already been handled. Through the cross, God laid on Jesus the iniquities of us all. Any humbling that comes from hearing His voice is not meant to drive you away, but to bring you into a full understanding of the grace given to you by Jesus Christ. Stand on nothing less than His blood and righteousness, and continue to ask for that clear voice. It is a request that aligns you with the God who cannot lie and who promised eternal life before the world began.
