Good and Faithful Servant
I recently broke up with my boyfriend due to us being unequally yoked among other things. I love him so much but I knew when this began that it was likely not God's will for us to be together but I dated him due to loneliness and not wanting to lose him as a friend if I said no to his advances. I grew to love him so much. Well, now his heart is broken because I broke up with him. Mine is too but I'm more concerned about him. He also has health conditions that require him not to have a lot of stress in his life. Please pray for him. I really want to hear from him today but I'm trying to give him space because I think reaching out to him is making it harder for him to move on. I haven't heard from him all day so far and now I don't think I will and that hurts so much. I don't know if I can bear how much that hurts. But I will be honest, I am praying and begging God that He would somehow allow me to end up with this man. Please pray the same. Please pray for me about all this. Thank you.

We hear the deep ache in your heart, and we lift this burden before the Lord with great compassion. First, we must gently but firmly address the foundation of your request. You mention praying and begging God to allow you to end up with this man, but we must ask: have you fully surrendered this desire to God’s will? Scripture is clear that we are not to be unequally yoked with unbelievers (2 Corinthians 6:14), and while your love for him is real, we must examine whether this aligns with God’s design for marriage. Marriage is a sacred covenant between a man and a woman who share faith in Christ, and it is meant to reflect His love and holiness (Ephesians 5:22-33). If he does not share your faith, this relationship cannot honor God in the way He intends.

We also must address the reality of your actions leading to this point. You acknowledged from the beginning that this relationship was likely not God’s will, yet you proceeded out of loneliness and fear of losing his friendship. This reveals a struggle with trusting God’s provision and timing. The Lord calls us to walk by faith, not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7), and to trust Him to meet our needs, including our need for companionship. Your loneliness is valid, but it cannot be the driving force behind your decisions. We must repent for the times we prioritize our desires over God’s wisdom, for He alone knows what is best for us.

Now, let us pray for you and for him. Father God, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this sister who is grieving the loss of this relationship. Lord, You see her pain, her love, and her longing for this man. We ask that You would comfort her in this time of sorrow, reminding her that You are near to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18). Help her to release this man into Your hands, trusting that You have a plan for both of their lives. Give her the strength to resist the temptation to reach out to him, knowing that Your timing is perfect and Your ways are higher than ours (Isaiah 55:8-9).

Lord, we also lift up this man to You. You know the stress and health challenges he faces, and we ask that You would bring healing and peace to his body and soul. Comfort him in his grief, and surround him with Your love. If it is Your will, draw him to Yourself, that he may come to know You as his Savior and Lord. Soften his heart to hear Your voice and to seek Your will for his life.

Father, we ask that You would guard this sister’s heart from bitterness, regret, or despair. Help her to find her identity and worth in You alone, not in this relationship or any other earthly connection. Fill the void in her heart with Your presence, and remind her that You are her ultimate companion and provider (Hebrews 13:5). Teach her to wait on You, trusting that You have someone prepared for her who will share her faith and walk with her in a marriage that honors You.

We also pray for wisdom and discernment for her moving forward. Help her to learn from this experience, to grow in her faith, and to seek relationships that align with Your Word. Give her the courage to set godly boundaries and to prioritize Your will above her own desires. May she find community and support among fellow believers who can encourage her in her walk with You.

Lord, we rebuke the enemy’s lies that may be whispering to her heart, lies that she is unlovable, that she will never find someone else, or that she has missed her chance at happiness. We declare that You have a future and a hope for her (Jeremiah 29:11), and that Your plans for her are good. Strengthen her to stand firm in her faith, even when the road ahead feels uncertain.

Finally, we ask that You would help her to fully surrender this man and this desire to You. May she find peace in Your sovereignty, knowing that You work all things together for the good of those who love You (Romans 8:28). Help her to release her grip on this relationship and to trust that You are writing her story in ways she cannot yet see.

In all of this, we pray that You would be glorified. May Your name be lifted high in her life, and may she come to know You more deeply through this trial. We ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, the One who heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. Amen.

Now, dear sister, we want to encourage you with some truths from God’s Word. First, know that your worth is not found in this man or any relationship. Your worth is found in Christ, who loved you so much that He gave His life for you (John 3:16). You are deeply loved by the Creator of the universe, and He has a purpose for your life that is greater than any earthly relationship.

Second, we want to remind you that God is a God of redemption. He can use even this painful experience to draw you closer to Him and to prepare you for the future He has planned. Trust that He is working all things together for your good, even when it doesn’t feel like it (Romans 8:28). Surrender this man and this desire to Him, and ask Him to fill you with His peace and His presence.

Third, we encourage you to seek godly counsel and community. Surround yourself with believers who can pray for you, encourage you, and hold you accountable. Share your struggles with them, and allow them to walk alongside you in this season. The body of Christ is meant to support and uplift one another (1 Thessalonians 5:11), so do not isolate yourself in this time.

Lastly, we want to gently challenge you to examine your heart and your motives. Are you truly seeking God’s will in this, or are you holding onto your own desires? Are you willing to trust Him, even if it means letting go of this man forever? Surrender is not easy, but it is necessary for true peace and freedom. Ask God to search your heart and to reveal any areas where you need to repent or grow (Psalm 139:23-24).

We are praying for you, sister. May the Lord bless you with His peace, His presence, and His perfect will for your life. Trust in Him, and He will direct your paths (Proverbs 3:5-6).

We’re so sorry you’re in this painful place. Choosing to honor God even when your heart is deeply attached takes real courage, and the grief you’re feeling is not a sign that you did something wrong, it’s the honest ache of losing someone you love. It makes sense that your thoughts keep turning toward him, especially with his health concerns, and the silence today feels like a weight of its own.

Giving him space right now, while agonizing for you, may be one of the most loving things you can offer. Grief doesn’t move in a straight line, and neither of you is meant to carry it perfectly. You don’t have to silence your own pain just because you’re worried about his. You can miss him, cry, and still take this one day at a time. The absence of a message today does not mean the story is fully written, and it doesn’t erase the care between you.

We’re praying with you, not demanding a specific outcome but entrusting you both to the God who knows every need. We ask Him to steady your heart while you wait, to shield his health from the worst of the stress, and to give you clarity and peace as you keep taking honest steps forward. You are not alone in the ache.

Jesus, please draw near to this hurting daughter and the man she loves. Guard his body and mind through this heavy time, and calm what feels frantic in her. Hold them both in Your mercy, and guide them in the days ahead, giving hope, healing, and whatever path truly honors You. Amen.

The ache you carry is witness to a struggle between the spirit and the flesh, and the Lord draws near to the broken in heart. You have done what is right in the sight of God by stepping away from a bond that could not be sanctified by His truth, for the yoke of Christ is not a harsh restraint but a gracious boundary for the soul’s safety. You have felt its weight and turned from the unequal yoke, yet now the pain of that obedience cuts deep. But know this: the comfort you seek cannot be found in bending heaven to your pleading for a reunion that Scripture warns against; that way lies greater sorrow.

Your cries are heard, but the Lord’s comfort is not always the softening of our circumstances, it is often the quickening of our hearts by His Word. “This is my comfort in my affliction, for Your Word has quickened me.” The Spirit revives us not by granting every desire, but by making us alive to Christ, whose fellowship is sweeter than any earthly tie. Do not begrudge the silence from him today; it is a mercy that severs the cords too painful to untie slowly. For your former companion, I pray the Great Physician would shield his body from harm and draw his soul to the only true rest, found at the cross. For you, I pray you would find such a grip on Jesus that loneliness loses its sting. The bruised reed He will not break; the dimly burning wick He will not quench. Cast yourself upon Him, and He will give you constancy in this trial, a comfort that does not depend on a message from man but on the faithfulness of God. The past misery shall one day be as waters that flow away, forgotten in the ocean of His love.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

You describe a heart torn by affection, yet you knew from the beginning that this union was not according to God’s will. That very knowledge is a gift of the Spirit, warning you that what began in loneliness and fear of losing a friend was built on a foundation of sand. Do not despise that inward conviction. Many who disregard that still, small voice eventually find themselves sinking in sorrows far deeper. The pain you feel now is sharp, but it is the surgeon’s knife cutting away what would become gangrene in your soul. You loved him, you say; but ask yourself honestly: did you love him with the love that seeks the other’s eternal good, or with a love that sought comfort for your own loneliness? The former would never draw you into disobedience; the latter dresses self-interest in the garments of affection.

You beg God to allow you to end up with this man. But can light have fellowship with darkness? What part does a believer have with an unbeliever? The Scriptures do not leave us to guess at such things. To pray against God’s revealed commandments is to wage war against your own healing. Instead, pray that his heart may be turned to the true Physician, that his soul might be made whole, for circumcision of the flesh profits nothing if he remains a breaker of the law. Better to see him brought low and converted than to enjoy his company now and lose both your souls later. The health you should care most about is not the stress that threatens his body, but the sickness of sin that threatens him eternally. Do not confuse the well-being of the flesh with the soundness of the spirit. As for the silence that aches within you, bear it as a discipline. You say the hurt seems unbearable; but consider him who endured the cross for your salvation, despising the shame. Is your suffering to be compared with his? Let your loneliness drive you to the Bridegroom of the Church, who never departs, never fails, and whose yoke is easy and burden light.

The rich ease of a comfortable friendship, like wealth, often becomes a snare; poverty of companions teaches us to treasure the pearl of great price. This present sorrow is not a sign that God has abandoned you, but that He is calling you to fix your affection on things above. Do not seek the dead consolation of a relationship that cannot lead you to holiness. Seek rather the health of your own soul through confession, fasting, and the medicine of the Holy Mysteries, and you will find that He who said, “My grace is sufficient for you,” speaks truly.

The pain you are feeling right now is real, and it deserves to be taken seriously before God. That ache, that longing to hear from him, the fear that the silence will be too much to carry, these are not small things. You are in a narrow place, pressed in on every side. But that pressure is not meant to crush you. It can become the very place where the Lord enlarges your heart to receive what He has for you, rather than what you are reaching for in your own strength.

You already saw the truth when you admitted that entering this relationship grew out of loneliness and a fear of losing a friend. That is a hard and honest confession, and God does not despise a broken and contrite heart. But the motivation in that moment points to something deeper. Your heart was seeking a human solution to an inward ache, and that led to a yoke that Scripture directly warns against. The command not to be unequally yoked with an unbeliever is not a suggestion meant to limit your happiness. It is a protection, because righteousness and unrighteousness simply do not blend. They remain like oil and water. You cannot pull together in the same direction when the very ground under your feet is different. You love him, and that love is not nothing. But love alone cannot make two spirits one when only one of those spirits is anchored in Christ. To be drawn together in that way is to be placed in an unequal situation every single time, and that is not God’s design for a life that is wholly His.

You are praying and begging God to somehow allow you to end up with this man. I hear that, and I know it rises from genuine affection. Yet your own words earlier in this request acknowledged that this was likely not His will from the beginning. Consider the difference between a desire that originates in your own lonely heart and a desire that God Himself places within you. He works in you both to will and to do His good pleasure. That means when He puts a yearning in a surrendered heart, He also carves out the path for it to be fulfilled in a way that honors Him. But when we insist on a desire born of our own fear or emptiness, even one dressed in the language of love, we are asking God to bless a broken reed that cannot hold our weight. His refusal to do that is not cruelty. It is mercy. A backsliding heart begins inwardly, filled with its own ways, convinced that this one exception will not matter. But God sees the heart. He knows whether our cry is truly, “Create in me a clean heart,” or whether we are asking Him to bless an alliance He has already told us to leave.

The concern you carry for his health and his broken heart shows tenderness, and that is not wrong. But you cannot be his savior from stress. You cannot manage his physical condition by putting your own soul at risk. The most loving thing you can do for him now is to give him space and to bring his true and deepest need before the throne of grace, that his heart would be turned toward the living God. Pray for his healing, yes. Pray for his comfort. But do not pray for a reunion that would place you back under a yoke God calls you to flee. That is not love; it is a subtle form of control born of pain. The silence you are enduring today feels unbearable, but it is also a mercy. Reaching out right now would only prolong the confusion and tighten the bond you both need to release.

What your heart truly needs is not a restored relationship with him, but a deeper reconciliation to the Father who says, “Come out from among them and be separate. I will receive you. I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters.” That promise is not abandonment. It is adoption into a love that will not break. The Lord sees the loneliness you were trying to outrun when you first said yes. He knows the fear of losing a friend. And He is able to do for you what you cannot do for yourself: He can circumcise your heart, cutting away the fleshly attachments that war against His best for you, and give you a new heart that finds its full satisfaction in Him. That does not happen overnight. It happens as you stop insisting on your own version of the story and let His Spirit search you and lead you into a wide place you cannot yet see.

Take your ache to Him without trying to snow Him or yourself. Tell Him it hurts. Tell Him you do not know how to bear it. But then let the honest prayer shift from “Please give him back to me” to “Lord, enlarge my heart for You. Make me pure. Let me want what You want more than I want relief.” He is not far from you in this. The Good Shepherd is near to the brokenhearted. Let Him tend to your heart now, and trust Him to care for the man you love in ways you never could.

We want to thank you for trusting us with your heart and allowing us to stand with you in prayer during this deeply painful season. We have been lifting you both before the Lord, asking Him to surround you with His peace that surpasses all understanding as you navigate this breakup. We’ve prayed specifically for your former boyfriend, that the Lord would comfort him in his grief, guard his heart from bitterness, and bring healing to his spirit. We’ve also asked God to ease the physical stress this situation may be causing him, trusting that the Great Physician knows exactly what he needs.

For you, we’ve prayed that God would meet you in your loneliness and sorrow, reminding you of His unfailing love and presence. We’ve asked Him to give you strength to resist the urge to reach out when it may not be best, and to fill the ache in your heart with His perfect peace. We’ve also prayed that He would clarify His will for your future, and that you would find your hope and identity firmly rooted in Christ alone.

If the Lord has answered any of these prayers—whether through a sense of peace, a word from your former boyfriend, or a shift in your own heart—we would love to hear how He is moving. Your praise report could encourage others who are walking through similar struggles. If, however, the silence or the pain feels heavier today, please don’t hesitate to post this as a new request. We are here to continue interceding for you both, believing that God is at work even when we can’t see it.

Above all, we pray that you would draw closer to Jesus through this trial, finding in Him the love and fulfillment that no human relationship can fully provide. May He bless you with His presence, His wisdom, and His hope as you seek Him with all your heart. We pray all these things in the powerful name of Jesus. Amen.
