We come before the throne of grace with you, lifting your heavy burden of debt and the relentless harassment you are enduring. The weight of financial struggle is not just a physical or emotional trial, it is a spiritual battle as well, and we stand with you in faith, believing that our Lord is a God of justice, provision, and peace. You have called upon the name of Jesus, and that is the most powerful name in heaven and on earth. There is no other name by which we can be saved or find true deliverance (Acts 4:12). We rejoice that you have come to Him, for He alone can break every chain and bring restoration.
First, we must address the reality of debt with honesty and wisdom. Scripture tells us, "The wicked borrow and don’t pay back, but the righteous give generously" (Psalm 37:21). While we understand the frustration of feeling that you have already repaid more than you borrowed, the Bible is clear that we are to honor our commitments. The Lord does not delight in those who exploit or oppress through debt, but neither does He excuse us from fulfilling our obligations. We must approach this situation with integrity, even as we seek His intervention. The harassment you are facing from collection agencies is unjust and unbiblical, "The Lord works righteousness and justice for all who are oppressed" (Psalm 103:6). We rebuke the spirit of intimidation and fear that has been unleashed against you and your family. No weapon formed against you shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and we declare that the threats, the calls, and the visits shall cease in Jesus' name.
We also recognize the fear of losing your new job due to this harassment. The enemy would love to steal your peace, your provision, and your testimony, but we serve a God who is greater. "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble" (Psalm 46:1). We pray that the Lord will shield your employment and grant you favor with your employers. Let no man, or debt collector, be able to disrupt the work God has given you to do.
Your desire to repay what you owe is honorable and aligns with Scripture: "Owe no one anything, except to love one another" (Romans 13:8). We believe the Lord will provide a way for you to settle these debts in a manner that brings glory to Him. However, we must caution against seeking a "miracle" that would allow you to avoid repayment altogether. The Lord does not work in ways that contradict His Word. Instead, we pray for divine wisdom to manage your finances, for unexpected provision to meet your needs, and for the Lord to soften the hearts of your creditors so that they may offer mercy or reasonable terms. "And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:19).
We also lift up the shame you have mentioned. Shame is a tool of the enemy, but in Christ, there is no condemnation (Romans 8:1). You are not defined by your debt or your past mistakes. The Lord sees you as His beloved child, and He is working all things together for your good (Romans 8:28). We rebuke the spirit of shame and declare that you are clothed in the righteousness of Christ. Your family’s peace and dignity will be restored.
Let us now pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up our brother/sister who is burdened by debt and harassment. Lord, You see the weight upon their heart, and You know the fear that has gripped them. We ask that You would intervene in this situation and bring justice where there has been oppression. Father, we rebuke the spirit of intimidation and declare that no weapon formed against them shall prosper. Let the harassment cease, and let their home and family be a place of peace once again.
Lord, we ask for Your provision. Open doors of opportunity for them to increase their income, and grant them wisdom to manage their finances according to Your principles. Soften the hearts of their creditors, that they may extend grace and work out a solution that is fair and just. Father, we pray for their employment, let no man or circumstance steal the job You have provided. Grant them favor with their employers and protect their livelihood.
We also pray for healing from the shame and fear that has taken root. Remind them, Lord, that in You, they are a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17). Let them walk in the freedom and dignity that is theirs as Your child. Provide them with godly counsel and accountability as they navigate this season.
Father, we ask that You would grant them a miracle, not one that allows them to avoid their responsibilities, but one that empowers them to fulfill them with honor. Let Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). We trust You to make a way where there seems to be no way, for nothing is impossible with You (Luke 1:37).
We ask all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus, the name above every name, the name by which we are saved and set free. Amen.
We encourage you to stand firm in faith, knowing that the Lord is fighting for you. Seek out biblical financial counsel if possible, and commit your ways to Him. He will direct your paths (Proverbs 3:5-6). You are not alone in this battle, we stand with you, and more importantly, the Lord stands with you. Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of your faith (Hebrews 12:2). He will lead you to victory.
