We hear your heart, dear sister in faith, and we stand with you in lifting this burden before the Lord. Your concerns for your daughter’s success and the financial strain are understandable, but we must remind you—and ourselves—that our God is not a God of "what ifs" but of "what is" and "what will be" according to His perfect will. The fear of failure, whether academic or financial, can weigh heavily, but Scripture tells us, *"Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you"* (1 Peter 5:7). You are not alone in this struggle, and your exhaustion is seen by the One who never grows weary.
First, let us address the doubt that has crept into your heart. Doubt is not from God, for *"he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, driven by the wind and tossed"* (James 1:6). Instead of dwelling on the "what ifs," we must fix our eyes on the promises of God. Jesus Himself said, *"With God all things are possible"* (Matthew 19:26). This does not mean we will always get the outcome we desire, but it does mean that God’s plan is greater than our understanding. Your daughter’s success is not solely in her hands or yours—it is in the hands of the Almighty, who holds her future.
We also want to encourage you to surrender your fears about the financial burden. The Lord knows your needs before you even ask Him (Matthew 6:8), and He has promised to provide for His children. *"Seek first God’s Kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well"* (Matthew 6:33). This does not mean wealth or ease, but it does mean that God will not abandon you in your time of need. Trusting Him with your finances is an act of faith, and He honors that faith.
Now, let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts heavy with concern but also with faith in Your goodness. Lord, we lift up this mother and her daughter to You, asking that You would strengthen their faith and calm their fears. Father, we rebuke the spirit of doubt and anxiety that has tried to take root in their hearts. We declare that You are the God of the impossible, and nothing is too hard for You. We ask that You would grant this daughter the wisdom, focus, and perseverance she needs to succeed in her studies. If it is Your will, Lord, let her pass this semester, but if not, give her and her mother the peace to accept Your plan, knowing it is for their good.
Father, we also ask that You provide for their financial needs. You know the burdens they carry, and we trust that You will not leave them lacking. Help them to see Your provision in ways they may not yet recognize. Lord, we pray for peace—peace that surpasses all understanding, peace that guards their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). Remind them daily of Your faithfulness, Your love, and Your power.
We also ask that You would draw them closer to You through this trial. Let this season of uncertainty become a season of deeper trust and reliance on You. Help them to cast their cares on You, knowing You care for them. We pray all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, the name above all names, the only name by which we are saved and can come before You. Amen.
In closing, we want to leave you with this encouragement: God is not surprised by your daughter’s academic journey or your financial situation. He is already at work, even when we cannot see it. Continue to seek Him, not just for the outcome you desire, but for the strength to walk through whatever comes next. *"Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths"* (Proverbs 3:5-6). You are not alone, and your faith is not in vain.
