Anxiety

Beloved of All
Having extreme anxiety issues engaged to be married fiancée workaholic the last 48 hours have been extreme anxiety issues due to very little contact with future spouse lately starting to wonder about my relationship

We hear the heaviness in your heart and we join with you in bringing this anxiety before the Lord, seeking His will together in Jesus' name.

We understand how difficult the last 48 hours have been for you, feeling extreme anxiety due to very little contact with your fiance and starting to wonder about your relationship, especially as you are engaged to be married. Engagement is a sacred season of courtship with the goal of lifelong marriage between a man and a woman as God designed, and it is right that you are taking this time seriously and weighing what God would have for your future. Genesis 2:24 reminds us that a man will leave his father and his mother and will join with his wife and they will be one flesh, and this covenant is meant to be entered into with prayer, clarity and peace, not with constant fear.

We want to gently speak to the anxiety you are experiencing. Anxiety often comes when we try to carry burdens that God intends for us to cast upon Him. We are instructed in Philippians 4:6-7 to in nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Also 1 Peter 5:7 tells us to cast all our worries on him, because he cares for you. Isaiah 41:10 reminds us to not be afraid, for I am with you, do not be dismayed, for I am your God, I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. We rebuke the spirit of fear and anxiety that would rob you of peace and cause you to make hasty judgments about your future marriage in a moment of emotional distress, and we encourage you to choose trust in the Lord over worry.

We also want to address what you shared about your fiance being a workaholic. Work is good and God calls us to diligence, but work must not become an idol that takes the place of God and the people He has given us to love and serve. A godly marriage requires time, communication, presence and sacrificial love as modeled in Ephesians 5:25. If there is already a pattern of very little contact and you feeling alone and anxious, this is something to explore openly and honestly before you enter into the covenant of marriage. We encourage you both as believers in Christ to pursue open, grace filled communication about expectations, time, priorities and how you will keep God at the center of your home. If you are not already, we encourage you to seek premarital counsel with a pastor or mature Christian couple who can help you both discern if you are equally yoked as taught in 2 Corinthians 6:14 and prepared to honor God together.

We notice your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ. We want to lovingly remind you that it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God and it is only through Him that we are saved. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 says there is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. If you have not already placed your faith in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, we urge you to do so and to bring every worry and every decision about your future marriage to Him in prayer.

We also encourage you during this engagement to guard purity and honor God with your bodies, for Hebrews 13:4 says let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled.

We pray together for you now.

Father in heaven, we lift up this dear one to You in the mighty name of Jesus. You see the extreme anxiety of the last 48 hours, the ache of feeling distant from the one they love and the questions rising about the future. Lord, we ask You to pour out Your perfect peace that surpasses all understanding upon their heart and mind. Help them to cast every care upon You because You care for them. Calm their anxious thoughts and help them to rest in Your sovereign care and perfect timing. Give them wisdom and discernment about this engagement. Reveal any areas that need honest conversation, repentance or change, and help both of them to prioritize You above work and all else. Teach them to communicate with love, patience and truth, and to seek godly counsel as they prepare for marriage. If it is Your will for this marriage to go forward, build it on the foundation of Christ, with commitment, faithfulness and selfless love. If there are warning signs that need to be addressed, give them courage to face them with grace and truth before making this lifelong vow. Draw them both closer to Jesus, that their relationship would honor You. We ask all of this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, amen.

We encourage you to keep praying, to talk calmly and honestly with your fiance about how you are feeling and what you need in terms of communication, and to not make a final decision about your relationship while in the height of anxiety. Seek the Lord daily in His Word, seek wise counsel, and trust that as you acknowledge Him, He will direct your paths as promised in Proverbs 3:5-6.

We hear how unsettling these last 48 hours have been for you, and how the quiet from your fiance has stirred up so much worry right as you are preparing for marriage. It makes sense that little contact would leave you feeling on edge and questioning where you stand.

What you are describing fits what many experience with anxiety, where thoughts, feelings and the body's stress response all affect each other at once. When contact drops off, especially with a future spouse who is often focused on work, the mind can race to fill in the gaps and the body stays on alert. Wondering about the relationship in that moment does not mean you have failed, it often signals that you care deeply and need more clarity and connection.

One gentle next step that may help is to plan a calm time to talk together, not in the middle of worry but when you both can be unhurried. You could share simply how the last couple of days have felt for you and ask how work has been for him, and then explore together what regular communication might look like in this busy season and what you both hope for as you move toward marriage. A trusted pastor or counselor can also be a steady sounding board as you sort through expectations before the wedding.

If the intense anxiety continues, with physical tension, trouble sleeping or a racing heart, please consider reaching out to your doctor or a counselor in person alongside prayer, so you have support for both heart and body.

Father, we bring our friend to You in Jesus' name. Calm the storm of anxious thoughts and bring peace to body and mind. Give wisdom for honest, kind conversation with their fiance and guidance for the steps ahead. Draw them close to Your care and steady them with Your presence. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Anxiety is a heavy burden upon the soul, and I perceive from your words how sorely it has pressed upon you in these last forty eight hours. You speak of extreme uneasiness because there has been very little contact with the one to whom you are engaged, and you begin to wonder about the relationship itself. It is right that you should bring this before the Lord and before His people.

Have you not found, as many of us have, that the very anxiety which arises through your being in a difficulty unfits you to meet that difficulty. Anxiety does not clear the judgment nor strengthen the hands. It clouds the mind and wearies the heart, so that we are less able to act with wisdom and love. Our Lord graciously says, seek not what ye shall eat or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind. He would have His children cast their care upon Him, for He careth for them.

There is a grave distinction to be kept in mind. To question whether a promise of God belongs to you is one thing, to doubt the truth of the promise itself is another. In like manner, it is one thing to feel a passing fear, and quite another to live as if doubts and fears must always mark the child of God. It is not necessary to be always doubting in order to prove that we are Christians. The Lord would give you confidence before Him, and that confidence grows as we draw near to Him. I shall begin to have hope for any soul when that soul begins to seriously think about God and about its own relationship to God. Take time, even in this anxious season, to think upon your Creator, your Preserver, your Provider and your Friend. If you come into familiar acquaintance with Him from day to day, speaking to Him in prayer and hearing His voice in Scripture, doubts will not have the same dominion over you.

Concerning your engagement, remember that marriage is a most solemn covenant, not a mere sentiment. It is not a relationship of birth but of choice and vow before God, a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman. When the Lord Jesus is described as the Husband of His Church, we are taught that He assumes all the responsibilities which belong to that condition, even paying the debts His people could not pay. So also in this earthly picture, marriage calls for faithfulness, self denial and a willingness to bear one another's burdens. It is therefore wise and needful to look carefully before you enter into it.

Little contact and a pattern of work taking the first place may well stir uneasiness. Do not let anxiety alone be your counselor, and do not let silence build a wall between you. Seek a calm and honest conversation with your future spouse, in a time set apart for that purpose, and speak the truth in love. Ask plainly how you shall both order work, time and communion with God and with one another if the Lord should lead you to be married. Seek also the counsel of a faithful pastor or a mature and godly married couple who know you both, that they may help you discern whether this uneasiness is the strain of a busy season or a warning that deeper matters of character, priorities and faith need to be addressed before vows are made. Keep yourselves pure and keep the marriage bed undefiled, living not as those already married but as those preparing to make a holy covenant.

Let me pray for you. O gracious Father, thou knowest this anxious heart and hast numbered every sigh. Thou biddest us be careful for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving to let our requests be made known unto thee. Give to this dear soul thy peace which passeth all understanding to keep heart and mind through Christ Jesus. Draw this one near to thyself, and draw near to this one, that there may be assurance before thee. Grant wisdom to see this relationship clearly, courage to speak with honesty and grace, and ears to hear good counsel. If this engagement be of thee and for thy glory, establish it in love, unselfishness and reverence for thee. If there be that which must be corrected or reconsidered, make it plain and give strength to obey. Lead step by step, and let all be done in the fear of the Lord and in preparation for a faithful lifelong union if it be thy will. In the name of Jesus Christ our only Savior, Amen.

Cast your care upon the Lord, seek Him first, and walk in the light with open and honest speech. May the Lord give you quietness of spirit and clear guidance in the days to come.

Being engaged should feel like something steady, and the last 48 hours have not felt like that. There's a gentle spoken prayer called the Limbic System Repatterning Prayer on the One Prayer at a Time YouTube channel, prayed over calming fear and settling the mind, and you only have to listen. I hope the quiet finds you again.

Pray for me, there’s a spirit of anxiety that’s been tormenting me for the past few weeks. I used to be incredibly happy, but I’ve lost all motivation in life. My only source of motivation is my spouse and my dog. Please pray that this spirit of anxiety leaves me.

"Please pray for me that the Lord removes my anxiety and helps me fulfill the job He has given me with honesty. I’m feeling very anxious. Please pray that the Lord grants me peace, excitement, and joy as I start this new job, and that my anxiety does not cause me to feel nauseous or vomit."
