We join you in lifting up this burden before the Lord and we are encouraged by your heart for the lost and your desire to see souls saved in Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, and for the two individuals you mentioned by name before the Father.

We know it is God’s heart that all would be saved, for He desires all people to be saved and come to full knowledge of the truth 1 Timothy 2:4 and we know the Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some count slowness, but is patient with us, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance 2 Peter 3:9. We agree with you that those who are in need of salvation would hear the gospel and respond. For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life John 3:16 and if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved Romans 10:9. There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12 and Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. We pray that the Lord would send laborers, open hearts, and draw many to Himself in those states and in the lives of those two dear souls.

We also hear your request that the Lord would remove two songs from them so you will not remember them. We understand how music and memories can cling to our minds and bring back painful or unwanted thoughts, and we bring your mind and heart before the Lord for healing and peace. We pray that God would renew your mind and guard your thoughts, for we are called to think on whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue, and if there is any praise, think about these things Philippians 4:8. We ask Him to help you to not remember the former things, and not consider the things of old, for behold He does a new thing Isaiah 43:18-19 and to create in you a clean heart and renew a right spirit within you Psalm 51:10. He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds Psalm 147:3 and He will keep you in perfect peace when your mind is stayed on Him Isaiah 26:3.

We pray together now.

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, thanking You that we have access to Your throne of grace through Him alone. We lift up every soul in Massachusetts, Connecticut, and New York who does not yet know You, and we lift up the two individuals our friend has named before You. If they are in need of salvation, we ask You to have mercy on them, to open their eyes, to soften their hearts, and to draw them to repentance and faith in Jesus. Give them a new heart and put a new spirit within them Ezekiel 36:26. Let them hear the good news that Christ died for our sins, was buried and rose again, and let them call upon the name of the Lord and be saved.

We also lift up our friend who is praying, and ask You to bring healing to their mind and memory. If these songs bring distress or temptation or painful association, we ask You to wash away what is not helpful and fill their mind with Your peace, Your Word, and songs that glorify You. Help them to forgive as You have forgiven us and to walk in freedom and wholeness. Let Your will be done in all these lives and let Your name be glorified.

We thank You that You hear us when we pray in Jesus name and we trust You to answer according to Your perfect love and wisdom. Amen.

We hear how much you care for others, lifting whole states and two people by name before the Lord, and also bringing your own struggle with songs that stick in your mind. That kind of intercession reflects love for neighbor and trust that God hears.

We are joining you in asking that God would work in Massachusetts, Connecticut and New York, and in the lives of the two you mentioned, drawing any who do not yet know Him toward His grace and giving them opportunities to hear and respond. We cannot see every heart, but we trust He knows each one and is patient and merciful.

For the songs that keep returning, we understand how distracting and wearying that can be. When they come to mind, many find it helpful to gently turn the moment into prayer, bringing the thought to God and filling the space with something else that is uplifting, like a hymn or worship song you choose, or a brief prayer for the very people you are burdened for. Over time that can ease the hold those tunes have.

Father, we bring before You the people of Massachusetts, Connecticut and New York and the two people named in this prayer, asking You to draw each one who needs salvation to Yourself. Bring peace to our friend and quiet the songs that linger in memory, replacing restlessness with Your calm presence. We ask this in Jesus Christ's name, amen.

Your prayer for the lost is itself a token of grace, for it is God that writes intercession upon men's hearts. The very burden you feel for souls in ###, in ###, in ###, and for the two souls you have named, shows that the Spirit is moving you to care not only for your own salvation but for the salvation of others, which is a great advance and a work after the pattern of Christ who ever liveth to make intercession for transgressors.

We join our supplication with yours, and we do so upon the sure ground that there is no salvation to be obtained from priests, or forms and ceremonies, nor from any other name under heaven. Salvation is by divine grace through faith in Christ Jesus alone. As the Scripture says, Whoever believes on Him shall not be ashamed. The way is simple and immediate, Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth. It is to trust Him, to come to Him because you can go nowhere else for salvation, and to find that His honor is engaged to save even the meanest of His sheep.

We pray therefore that the Lord, whose thoughts are higher than our thoughts as the heavens are higher than the earth, would be merciful to those multitudes in those states who are yet without Christ, and to the two persons laid upon your heart. That He would convince them of sin, open their eyes to their need, and draw them to look to Jesus and live. And we remember that He that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because He maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. What you have asked according to that will, He will hear.

Concerning the two songs which trouble your memory, we pray that the Lord would cleanse your thoughts and give you peace. May your mind be conformed to His thoughts, and may you be kept near to Him, so that when you awake you are still with Him. May He lift from you that which disturbs you and fix your affections more firmly upon Christ, that your remembrance may be filled with what is pure and precious in His sight.

Continue in this persevering intercession as Samuel did, and do not cease to pray and, as God gives opportunity, to tell those around you what the way of salvation is. He is able to save to the uttermost all that come to God by Him.

We commend you and all those for whom you have prayed to the sovereign grace of God, beseeching Him to grant repentance and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, to the glory of His name. Amen.
