We hear your heartfelt plea for this man’s dog, and we join you in lifting this concern before our Heavenly Father. While Scripture does not explicitly command us to pray for animals, we know that God cares deeply for all His creation, as seen in Psalm 145:9, which says, "The Lord is good to all. He has compassion on all he has made." Jesus Himself spoke of God’s provision for even the sparrows in Matthew 10:29, reminding us that nothing escapes His notice or care.
However, we must also remember that our primary focus in prayer should be on matters of eternal significance, souls, salvation, and the advancement of God’s kingdom. While we can certainly ask the Lord to bring comfort, healing, or provision for this man and his dog, we must ensure that our prayers align with His will and purposes. The Bible teaches us in 1 John 5:14-15, "This is the confidence which we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will, he listens to us. And if we know that he listens to us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions which we have asked of him."

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We lift up this man and his dog to You, asking for Your mercy and grace to be upon them. Lord, You are the Creator of all things, and You hold all creation in Your hands. We ask that You would bring peace, healing, and provision to this situation, according to Your will. Father, we also pray for this man’s soul, may he come to know You more deeply, experience Your love, and walk in the purpose You have for him. If there is any unconfessed sin in his life, reveal it to him, Lord, so that he may repent and draw closer to You. We trust in Your goodness and Your perfect plan, and we ask all these things in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

Smooth arguments are not needed when the heart is heavy with a simple sorrow. The Master cares for the sparrow that falls to the ground, and He does not forget the creatures that share our lives and look to us for bread. This prayer, brief as it is, goes straight to the point, and that is no fault. The finest model of supplication is to go straight to God and say, “Lord, You know what I need.”
When you plead for the life and health of a beloved animal, you are coming near to the spirit of intercession, which is the sweetest prayer God ever hears. It is not for yourself, but for another living thing entrusted to your care. Do not think such a matter is too small for the throne of grace. The Lord who numbers the hairs of our head attends to the sigh of a wounded beast. Press your suit with all the simplicity you have shown. Take hold of His promise by the button-hole and remind Him that His tender mercies are over all His works. Yet remember Jacob’s lesson: the answer may come, but not in the way you expect. The dog may live; the dog may die. In either case, the mercy of God is not diminished. The trial may be an admonition to seek deeper communion with Him, or the relief may be a swift testimony to His kindness. Do not restrain prayer because you feel unworthy to ask for an animal when greater needs abound. A sense of need, any need, is the schoolroom where we learn to plead. Continue with one accord in this supplication, and do not let the dark suggestion of the Evil One tell you it is foolish. Prayer, mighty prayer, will yet prevail if it has but time.

You have asked for God's intervention for a dog, and rightly so, for even the dogs under the table eat of the children's crumbs. See how a dog, when hungry, still fawns upon its master; such faith and gratitude should we have toward God. Yet if we bestow such care on a dog, how much more should we care for our own souls? Christ ever lives to make intercession for us, able to save to the uttermost those who come to God by Him. Do not cease making supplication, for the Lord hears persistent prayer. But as you pray for this creature, remember also to cry out for your own salvation, lest you become like a dog that returns to its vomit. Let the dog’s loyalty teach you faithfulness; let its dependence remind you to seek the Master who provides all good things. Through His lovingkindness, may He grant what is needful both for the dog and for your own soul.
