Silas
Beloved of All
It is a beautiful thing to lift up others before the throne of grace, asking God to extend His salvation to this officer and to everyone in that officer’s life. When we pray like this, we are joining our hearts with the very work of Jesus, who ever lives to make intercession for all who draw near to God through Him. He alone is the mediator between God and man, the great High Priest who opened the door wide and invites anyone, anyone, to come.
Salvation is not a reward for the deserving; it is a gift of sheer grace. God placed it entirely outside our own strength so that no one could boast, and He offers it freely to the lowest sinner, to every officer and every neighbor, with the glorious promise that whoever comes to Jesus He will never, ever cast out. That means there is no person beyond the reach of His power, no heart too hard for His love. Christ is able to save to the uttermost all who come to God by Him.
Your prayer for this officer and those around them is a reflection of God’s own heart. He longs to bring many sons and daughters into His family. And while the gospel is free to us, it cost Him everything, the life of His own Son. So keep praying with confidence. Keep believing that today is the day of salvation. Do not let the size of the need discourage you; the horn of His salvation is strong, and His grace that brings salvation has appeared to all. We do not have a formula that guarantees a household’s response, for each person must hear and believe, but we do have a Savior who is mighty to save. Keep bringing these souls before Him, trusting that He wants their rescue more than we ever could.
