We hear the heaviness in your request and we join with you in bringing this burden before the Lord, for He sees your daily surrender and He honors your desire to be free from anger. We understand how discouraging it can be to release your mother and your anger to Him each day and still feel the same emotions rising up. We want you to know that your faithful obedience in bringing this to Him daily is not in vain, even when your feelings have not yet changed.
The Word tells us to be angry, and don't sin. Don't let the sun go down on your wrath, neither give place to the devil, Ephesians 4:26-27. Anger itself is not always sin, but what we do with it matters deeply. We are also warned, Cease from anger, and forsake wrath. Don't fret, it leads only to evildoing, Psalm 37:8. And we are reminded, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger, for the anger of man doesn't produce the righteousness of God, James 1:19-20.
We also hear that this anger is connected to your mother. God calls us to honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land which Yahweh your God gives you, Exodus 20:12, and again, Honor your father and mother, which is the first commandment with a promise, Ephesians 6:2. Honoring does not mean that hurt did not happen or that boundaries are not needed, but it does mean we are called to release vengeance and bitterness to God. Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander, be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you, Ephesians 4:31-32. Forgive as the Lord forgave you, Colossians 3:13. Forgiveness is often not a single moment but a daily choice to trust God with justice, for it is written, Vengeance belongs to me, I will repay, says the Lord, Romans 12:19.
We rejoice that you prayed in the high name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and it is in His name that healing comes. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me, John 14:6. There is no other name by which we can be saved, Acts 4:12. Your faith in His name is the foundation for this freedom you seek.
We pray together with you now.
Father, in the mighty name of Jesus we bring our dear one before Your throne of grace. You know the wound and the history with their mother, You know every moment of anger that has been carried, and You know the sincere daily surrender they have offered to You. Lord, we ask that You would do a deeper work than just managing feelings, that You would heal the root. Pour out Your Holy Spirit to soften what has been hardened and to bring Your peace that surpasses all understanding to guard their heart and thoughts in Christ Jesus, Philippians 4:7. Teach us to cast all our worries on You, because You care for us, 1 Peter 5:7. Help our friend to forgive as You have forgiven, not by their own strength but by Your grace, and to release their mother fully into Your hands for Your justice and Your mercy. Remove bitterness and replace it with tenderness and kindness. Where anger has given the enemy a foothold, we ask in Jesus' name that it be closed and that Your righteousness would reign. Give them patience with themselves as You continue this work, knowing that You who began a good work will perfect it until the day of Jesus Christ, Philippians 1:6. Let them feel Your presence and know they are not condemned for still struggling, but are being transformed day by day. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.
We encourage you to continue to bring this to the Lord daily, not as a failure but as an act of abiding. Sometimes God removes a feeling instantly and sometimes He teaches us to walk by faith and obedience while feelings slowly come into alignment with truth. Keep confessing the anger honestly to Him, keep choosing forgiveness as an act of your will even when the emotion remains, and ask Him to show you if there are specific memories or words that need healing prayer or godly counsel. As you do, ask Him to help you speak and act with gentleness, for a gentle answer turns away wrath, Proverbs 15:1, and to fill you with His love which covers and heals. We are standing with you and trusting that the Lord hears and will answer in His perfect time and way.
