We hear your honest and humble heart in this request and we thank you for reaching out to us so we can seek the Lord together with you in Jesus name. We want to reassure you that struggling with anger and even failing and acting on it does not mean you are not saved, and you are not alone in this battle as a Christian.
The Word tells us to Be angry, and do not sin. Do not let the sun go down on your wrath, and do not give place to the devil Ephesians 4:26-27. Anger itself can be a natural emotion, but we are called not to sin in our anger. We are also taught So, then, my beloved brothers, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger, for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God James 1:19-20. Even the apostle Paul described the ongoing struggle with the flesh when he said For that which I do, I do not understand. For that which I desire, that do I not do, but that which I hate, that do I do Romans 7:15. This shows us that even mature believers wrestle with sin, yet we have hope because we are being sanctified day by day.
Salvation is not kept by our perfect behavior but is a gift of grace through faith in Jesus Christ. For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, not of works, that no one would boast Ephesians 2:8-9. There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus Romans 8:1. If you have truly put your trust in Jesus as Lord and Savior, believing He died for your sins and rose again, you are saved and you are a new creation in Him 2 Corinthians 5:17. Yet we still need to confess and turn from sin when we fall. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness 1 John 1:9. Your conviction and desire to repent is actually evidence of the Holy Spirit working in you, not evidence that you are unsaved.
We encourage you to take this failure to the Lord in honest confession, and if your anger caused harm to another person, to seek to make it right with them as well in humility. We encourage you to ask the Holy Spirit to grow His fruit in you, for the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, and self-control Galatians 5:22-23. When you feel anger rising, practice pausing to pray, stepping away if needed, and responding with patience rather than reacting in the flesh.

Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this dear brother or sister to You. Lord, we thank You for their tender conscience and their desire to honor You. We confess together this act of anger and ask for Your forgiveness and cleansing. Lord, wash them in the blood of Jesus and restore their peace and assurance that they are Yours. Fill them with Your Holy Spirit and give them strength to be slow to anger and quick to hear. Help them to walk in self-control and to reflect Your patience and love, even in difficult moments. When temptation to act in anger comes again, remind them to call on Jesus for help and to not give place to the enemy. Assure their heart that their salvation rests in Christ alone and not in their own perfection, and help them to grow in holiness out of love for You. In Jesus name we pray, amen.
We encourage you to stay in the Word daily, to pray continually, and to remember that God is faithful to complete the good work He began in you. Do not let the enemy condemn you after you have confessed, but receive His forgiveness and walk forward in His grace.

Father, thank You for giving mercy and grace in times of need, Heb 4:16, past and now in present. Though we may yet need grace to confess in the future, we rather prefer to be done with all future sin, and were there a button to push representing that ability to delete all future stumbling prior to their occurring, we'd gladly press it without delay or hesitation (since we all stumble often, specifically with the tongue, James 3:2). Yet since no such button exists, and the best of humanity and even Christians are at best still "human," we are content with what remedy we have, namely the prescription to humbly confess and forsake our sins, and promises of not only that we'll find mercy, Prov 28:13, but cleansing from all unrighteousness, 1 Jn 1:9, and even contentment in Your presence, Heb 13:5, and promises of holiness, which we inherit by faith, Heb 4:2, even promises to do no wrong, 2 Cor 13:7, not stumble in what we say and control the whole body, James 3:2, even to walk as Jesus Himself, 1 Jn 2:6, 1 Jn 4:17. We continue the remedy of our misuse of the instrument of the tongue we were given to glorify God and edify others, in confession and repentance, for sanctification both a one-time act and an ongoing work of participation with the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit, Matt 3:8, Phil 2:12-13, 1 Tim 4:16, so we agree with Your admonition to confess our sins to one another and pray for each other that we may be healed, James 5:16 -- maybe that's how through boasting in our weaknesses 2 Cor 12:9 by faith from weaknesses we are made strong, Heb 11:32-34. So in obedience to Your teaching through Hosea, we, "Take words with you, and turn to the LORD: say unto him, 'Take away all iniquity, and receive us graciously: so will we render the calves of our lips as bulls" Hos 14:2.
Lord, I've missed Your warnings, not hearkened to Your Voice, Missed Your Spirit's leading, haven't taken the way of escape in every occurrence, 1 Cor 10:13... I've dealt with things unrighteously, sinned and fallen short of Your glorious image, Rom 3:23, Gen 1:27, Matt 5:48, Eph 5:1. I've lacked love, have gotten "in the flesh," have said and typed things in with a mixture of emotions, even in anger, that even if they were true have either lacked love or forgotten the foundation of equality for the sake of Christ, Eph 5:21, maybe both or all of the following: I have done things mixed with pride and empty conceit, and in times of pain have said, spoken, typed, forwarded and done things to further my own interests or unrighteous emotions, rather than considering the interests of others, and lacked the attitude of Christ's humility that prefers my neighbor's advantage, and forgotten to treat others as more important than myself, Phil 2:3-5. Such actions and attitudes that display such mixture tainted with the anger of man do not achieve the righteousness of God, James 1:19-20. Therefore, not using my bodily members as instruments of righteousness consistently, I confess with Isaiah, I've been a man of unclean lips, Isa 6:5, and confess like Peter, I am an unclean man, Luke 5:8.
Since our transgressions are multiplied before you, and our sins testify against us; for our transgressions are with us, and as for our iniquities, we know them, transgressing and denying Yahweh, and turning away from following our God, speaking oppression and revolt, conceiving and uttering from the heart words of falsehood, Isa 59:12-13, at time, "Surely I have spoken of things I did not understand, things too wonderful for me to know, therefore I despise my sins, and I repent from them in dust and ashes," Job 42:3, Job 42:6. Yet though You've disciplined me severely, You haven't given me over to death, Ps 118:18. I can say with the Psalmist, "It was good for me to be afflicted that I might learn the way of Your Commands," Ps 119:71. Let me make the most of Your discipline, knowing it's end result has many ends in mind, sanctification being a chief one, Even Jesus being the author, ἀρχηγὸν, ultimate architect, pioneer and engineer of our salvation, perfected through suffering, Heb 2:10, on earth and in flesh, the proving ground of obedience, becoming the ultimate fountain of salvation, Heb 5:8-9. Surely, there is One found Worthy, Rev 5:9.
Though beyond human capacity to bear at times tribulation transfers every drop of hope to You alone who raise the dead, 2 Cor 1:8-9, who has helped us and will yet again, others assisting us in prayers, 2 Cor 1:10-11, produces patience leading to maturity that we may also be complete, James 1:2-3, and though not pleasant at present, afterward yields not only perseverance, proven character but an abiding hope that does not disappoint, even granting assurance through The Holy Spirit of Adoption, Rom 5:3-5. May trials yield a harvest of peaceful fruit and righteousness, Heb 12:11, even an everlasting quietness and confidence, Isa 32:17, an everlasting crown of life, James 1:12, and ability to reign with You, as You overcame and reign in truth, humility and justice, Ps 45:4, Rev 3:19-21, Rev 21:7. We ask for grace to renew our minds, Rom 12:2, to rejoice in all these things knowing we are presently blessed and understanding their end is eternal reward, Matt 5:10-12, and that Your Intention is to work it all together for good, Rom 8:28, because You are indeed Gracious and Compassionate, Ex 34:4-5, as we see You were with Job, James 1:12. Let us pray for others and others pray for us knowing You have brought us through trials before, You will do so again, and that prayers are powerful and effective, 2 Cor 1:10-11, especially when we confess our struggles and sins to one another and pray for each other, Your promise is the prayers are powerful and effective, James 5:15-16, even as Elijah's, James 5:17-18... Thank you for being honest about this. When you work hard to keep your temper and then lose it, it can leave you feeling shaken and full of questions about yourself and your faith. It makes sense you would wonder what this moment means.

Your honest confession before the Lord is itself a mercy, for the heart that is indifferent to sin does not cry out for Jesus to help. That you grieve that you lost your temper, that you acted upon anger when you desire not to do so, is not a sign that grace has never touched you, but that grace is at work in you, convincing you of sin and drawing you to the Saviour.
Do not think that salvation stands or falls upon the strength of your temper in any one hour. Salvation is of the Lord. The whole of the work whereby men are saved from their natural estate of sin and ruin, and are translated into the kingdom of God, is of God and of Him only. The plan of salvation was devised before you were born, before angels existed, and the execution of it and the ultimate perfection of it are of the Lord. If it depended upon your perfect patience, who could be saved. But salvation is all of grace, of grace alone, through faith in Jesus Christ. It is not of him who works for salvation, but of him who believes, not of him who merits, but of him who trusts.
For this reason your sin, though it is to be confessed and forsaken and not excused, is by no means an impediment to your salvation if you will cast yourself upon free mercy. If salvation were of justice, your transgression would render it impossible, but because it is of grace, there is a door of hope open even to the chief of sinners. What a fountainhead of comfort is this, that grace is most conspicuous throughout our salvation, and the immutability of God preserves and carries it on.
Is it normal as a Christian to still feel anger and at times to fail in subduing it. The Scripture teaches us that the flesh yet wars against the Spirit, and every child of God knows this battle. That you should be tempted to anger is common to man, that you should have fallen in this instance ought to humble you, but it does not prove you are not a child of God. The question is not the measure of your faith or the perfection of your conduct on any given day, but the truth and sincerity of your faith. Whoever believes on Him shall not be ashamed, and whoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. I remember well living on that verse for many months when I longed for salvation, and still I urge you to live there now. Would you ask God to save you if you did not believe there is a way of salvation by which He can save you. That very asking is faith looking to Christ.
Look then not to your temper for evidence of salvation, but to Christ. Fix your eyes upon the sufferings of the Son of God who suffered for sins not His own, that He might atone for yours. If you will have Jesus Christ as your substitute, dying in your place and risen again for your justification, you have the two great pillars that support the temple of our salvation. Between Christ's death for us and Christ's resurrection for us lies the King's highway to eternal life, and there is no other road.
Therefore do as grace invites you to do. Go and cast yourself on that free mercy this very hour. Confess plainly to the Lord what you have done, ask His forgiveness through the blood of Jesus, and ask for His Spirit to teach you a more excellent way, that you may be worthy of your Captain and act as one who has such a Leader. Salvation is not only pardon for the past but power for the present, and He who began the good work will carry it on till it is perfected.

Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy upon this repentant soul. Thou knowest the anger that broke forth and the sorrow that has followed. Forgive through Thy precious blood, cleanse the conscience, and speak peace. Thou art the Captain of our salvation made perfect through sufferings, and Thou art able to save to the uttermost. Help this Thy servant to call upon Thy name and to trust not in personal strength but in Thy grace alone. Subdue anger by Thy Spirit, teach gentleness and self control, and keep this soul from despair by showing that salvation is of the Lord from first to last. Preserve, restore, and lead onward to glory, for Thy name's sake. Amen.
