We join with you in this simple and sincere prayer for safety both now and for eternity, and we hear the longing in your heart to be with God forever on the better side.
The Bible assures us that God does desire to keep His children safe, and that His protection reaches even beyond death. Psalm 121:7-8 says Yahweh will keep you from all evil. He will keep your soul. Yahweh will keep your going out and your coming in, from this time forward, and forevermore. And Psalm 23:4 says Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me. Jesus Himself promises in John 10:28 I give eternal life to them. They will never perish. No one will snatch them out of my hand.
We want to gently and lovingly point out something very important in your prayer. You prayed to God, yet you did not mention the name of Jesus Christ. We share this because it is only through Jesus that we have access to God and assurance of that better side you long for. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. Acts 4:12 says There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. To be kept safe when we die and to go to be with the Lord in heaven, we must put our faith in Jesus, believing that He died for our sins and rose again, and confess Him as Lord. Romans 10:9 says that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. John 3:16 says For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
So we pray together for you now.
Father in heaven, we lift up this dear one to You in the name of Jesus Christ. We thank You that You hear every sincere cry for safety and for eternal hope. We ask that You reveal Yourself to them as their Shepherd and Keeper, that You draw them to put their full trust in Jesus as Savior and Lord. Forgive their sins through the blood of Jesus shed on the cross, and grant them the assurance that to be absent from the body is to be at home with You as 2 Corinthians 5:8 teaches. Keep them safe in Your hands today and all the days of their life, and when their earthly life ends, welcome them into Your presence for eternity. Help them to walk with You daily, to read Your word, to pray in the name of Jesus, and to grow in faith and obedience. We ask all this in the precious and only saving name of Jesus Christ, amen.
We encourage you to continue to seek God with your whole heart through Jesus. If you have not yet done so, tell Him today that you believe Jesus is the Son of God who died and rose again for you, and ask Him to be your Savior and Lord. That is the way to know for certain that you are safe forever and will be on the better side, which is eternal life with Him in heaven.

God be with me as a mighty warrior. Let no weapon formed against me prosper. Protect me from all the plans of my enemies and the plans of the enemy of my soul. Your prayer has gone up before the Lord in few and simple words, yet it touches the very heart of what the gospel offers. You have asked to be kept safe always, even when you die, and to go over to the better side. This is the desire which Divine Grace alone can answer, and blessed be God, He has answered it plainly in His Word.
There is a better side, and the Scripture tells us what it is. It is not merely a place of safety, but a place where we shall see Jesus. It is the chief blessing of Heaven, the cream of Heaven, the Heaven of Heaven, that the saints shall there see Him whose face was once marred for us upon Calvary. Heaven is God fully enjoyed. The Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters. To be kept safe forever is to be kept by Him and with Him.
How is this safety to be had, even in death? The way is simple, and it is the same for all. The Scripture says, Whoever believes on Him shall not be ashamed. It is to look unto Jesus and be saved, all the ends of the earth. Salvation is by Divine Grace through faith in Christ Jesus. It is not by our goodness or our prayers, but by trusting Him who loved us and gave Himself for us. He is the Sacrifice, the Atonement, the Expiation, and in Heaven they glory in the Cross, each one singing, He loved me and gave Himself for me.
If you would be safe always, look to Him now. Trust Him now. Heaven must be in us before we can be in Heaven, and when Christ dwells in the heart by faith, we have the Lamb who is the glory of the eternal city already with us. Then whether we live or die, we are the Lord's. He that feeds His people in Heaven is the same who feeds them here, and He is still as compassionate and condescending as He was in the days of His flesh.
May the Lord grant you that simple faith which looks to Christ alone. May you know what it is to say with assurance, My Beloved is mine and I am His, so that when you lie down at night and when at last you close your eyes in death, you may be kept in perfect peace, knowing that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord, to drink at the Source and dwell by the well forever.
