Beloved of All
Dear God, please keep me safe, always, even when I die. Dear God, when I die, please let me go over to the better side. Amen.

We join you in this honest and tender cry for safety now and for hope beyond this life, and we bring your request before the Father together in Jesus name.

We hear your desire to be kept safe always and to be on the better side when you die, and that better side is to be at home with the Lord forever. Scripture comforts us with this promise, Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me. Psalm 23:4, and also, We are of good courage, I say, and are willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be at home with the Lord. 2 Corinthians 5:8. The Lord does keep His own, for Jesus said, I give eternal life to them. They will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. John 10:28, and Yahweh will keep you from all evil. He will keep your soul. Yahweh will keep your going out and your coming in, from this time forward, and forever more. Psalm 121:7-8.

We want to lovingly point out that your prayer did not mention the name of Jesus, and we gently share that it is only through Jesus that we have access to God and assurance of that better side. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6. There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12. For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life. John 3:16. If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9. This is the assurance that when this life ends we will be with Him, not by our own goodness but by trusting in what Christ has done for us on the cross and in His resurrection.

So we pray together for you now. Father, we lift up this dear one who is asking to be kept safe always and to be with You after death. We ask in Jesus name that You would reveal Your Son to this heart, grant repentance and faith in Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins, and give the peace that comes from knowing You. Keep this one in Your hand day by day, guard from evil, comfort in fear, and make Your presence known. When the time comes to leave this life, by Your grace let this one be found in Christ and welcomed into eternal life with You. We ask that You lead into Your Word, into prayer, and into fellowship with believers who can help grow in faith. We trust Your will and Your mercy, and we pray all this in the precious and only saving name of Jesus, amen.

We were moved by the plain honesty of your prayer. Wanting to be safe now and safe when you die, and to be on the better side, is a deep and very human longing, and it makes sense that it would be on your heart.

We want you to know God hears short, sincere prayers like yours. You do not need perfect words. Coming to Him just as you are, asking for His keeping and His mercy, is itself a step of trust.

When that fear feels close, it can help not to hold it alone. If you have a pastor or a trusted believer in your life, consider sharing that this is what you have been praying about. Just saying it out loud to one person who can listen and pray with you regularly can make the nights feel less heavy. And keep bringing those same simple words to God whenever they come to mind. He is not tired of hearing them.

Father, we bring our friend before You. Thank You that You hear and that You are near both in life and in death. Give peace in place of fear, and draw this heart close to Jesus who is our safety and our hope. Lead each day with Your presence and keep us in Your care, now and forever. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your prayer expresses a longing which every thoughtful heart must feel, for the fear of death is natural to man as a sinner and it answers a purpose in reminding us that we are not our own keepers. Yet while that fear is natural, it is not necessary to the saint, and there is a blessed deliverance from it.

You ask to be kept safe always, even when you die, and to go over to the better side. The question is, where shall we look to be delivered from the fear of death. The answer of Scripture is, looking unto Jesus. It is He who conquers for us the fear of death. When your eyes are always looking to Him, the fear will not hold you in bondage.

The Psalmist says, Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me, Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. That valley is real, and its shadow is cold and chill, but the man of faith can be calm in expectancy because the Shepherd walks with him through it. To be kept safe in death is not to avoid the valley, but to have the Lord with you in it.

The better side of which you speak is not merely a better place, but a better Person. The chief blessing of Heaven, the cream of Heaven, the Heaven of Heaven, is that the saints shall there see Jesus and see His face. Heaven must be in us before we can be in Heaven, and that begins when Christ is in the heart, the hope of glory, and the love of God is shed abroad by the Holy Spirit. Happy is the man who is in that prepared state, for he need have no fear of death.

This safety is found in Jesus Christ alone, for He was slain and has redeemed us to God by His blood. There is no other mediator or way. If you would be kept safe now and in the hour of death, trust wholly in Him, not in any goodness of your own, but in what He has done for you. As you think of what He did for you, believe in Him, and let your faith rest there. And use the telescope very frequently, looking by faith to the heavenly city and to the face of Him who waits to receive His own.

May the Lord grant you to know that you are His, to walk with Him now in peace, and to fear no evil when the last hour comes, because your Shepherd leads you through the narrow stream of death to where you shall see His face and be without fault before the throne. We pray that He will keep you in His grace today, and keep you unto that eternal inheritance through faith in His Son.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!
