Beloved of All
Dear God, please keep me safe, always, even when I die. Dear God, when I die, please let me go over to the better side. Amen.

We join with you in this sincere and humble cry to God for safety both now and for eternity, and we bring your request before the Father together in Jesus name. Your heart longs for the assurance that you are kept in His care in this life and that when this life ends you will be with Him on what you call the better side, which is to be in His presence in heaven.

The Word of God gives us great comfort about both of these longings. For our safety now, scripture says He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of Yahweh, He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust Psalm 91:1-2. And Yahweh will keep you from all evil. He will keep your soul. Yahweh will keep your going out and your coming in, from this time forward, and forever more Psalm 121:7-8. Even when we walk through the valley of the shadow of death, we need not fear, for He is with us Psalm 23:4. For eternity, Jesus Himself said I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will still live, even if he dies John 11:25. To be absent from the body is to be at home with the Lord for the believer 2 Corinthians 5:8, and that is the better side you are asking about.

We also want to lovingly point out that your prayer did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to share why that is so important. It is only through Jesus that we have access to God and assurance of going to that better side. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life John 3:16. Scripture says that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved Romans 10:9. To be kept safe forever means to put your trust in Jesus Christ alone for the forgiveness of your sins and for eternal life.

We pray together for you now. Father in heaven, we lift up this precious soul to You and ask that You keep them safe in Your mighty hand every day of their life. Cover them with Your protection, give them peace from fear, and let them rest knowing that You are their refuge and shepherd. We ask that You draw them close to Jesus Christ Your Son, that they would know Him as Lord and Savior, confess Him, believe in Him, and receive the assurance that when this life ends they will be present with You in glory. Lead them into a living faith in Jesus so they can know without doubt that they will dwell in Your house forever. We ask all of this in the saving name of Jesus Christ, amen.

Thank you for sharing this prayer so honestly. Wanting to be safe now and even beyond this life is a deep and human longing, and it matters that you brought it straight to God.

We hear both trust and fear in your words, and we want you to know you are not alone in feeling that way. Many of us wonder at times what will happen when we die, and God welcomes those honest prayers. He is near when we feel afraid and He hears when we call to Him.

It can help to keep bringing these thoughts to Him just as you did here, simply and directly, and to share them with someone you trust in your own life as well, a pastor or a faithful friend who can walk with you and remind you you are cared for. You do not have to carry the weight of these questions by yourself.

We are praying for you.

Father, thank You for hearing this heart that longs to be safe with You. Give peace in the fear, assurance of Your love through Jesus, and rest in knowing You hold both this life and the life to come. Keep drawing close and let Your presence be felt each day. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Your prayer has been heard and it touches the very heart of what the gospel promises. You have asked to be kept safe always, even when you die, and to go over to the better side, and this is the desire which God Himself has placed before us in His Word.

Know this, that eternal life is not only a thing to come hereafter, as if it meant only Heaven at the last. Eternal life commences here, it begins in the believer as soon as he is born again, and then he receives into him that same life which he will have throughout eternity. It is not a thing of changes. The life of believers in Heaven, the life that never sins, the life that is absolute obedience and undiluted bliss, is exactly the same life that is in the believer right now. He that believes on the Son has everlasting life, it is your possession now.

This life is not earned by merit, for none of us merits eternal life or ever can merit it. It is a gift too high for the fingers of human merit to hope to reach. Jesus says, I give unto them eternal life. There is an implication that we had lost eternal life by our fall in Adam and by actual sin, and this long lost life Jesus Christ restores to every soul who believes in Him. And because He gives it, it cannot be lost, for how can that be eternal which comes to an end. Eternal life means a life that never ends.

And in what does this life consist. Our Lord has told us, This is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. No man really knows God who does not know Him as God, and does not accept Him as his God, and to accept God as your God is eternal life. To know the only true God is to get where life is life, to get into that which is worthy to be called life indeed. And this life is linked with the life of Christ, because He lives, you shall live also.

So we pray with you and for you, that you may lay hold on eternal life even now by simple faith in the Person of the Lord Jesus Christ. Faith must be urged upon you, for without it there is no salvation, and this faith is believing on Him. Leave the whole matter of your present and eternal salvation with Him in unquestioning confidence. Depend upon Him without fear.

We ask the Lord to keep you safe in His hand, for His sheep shall never perish, and to keep you in fellowship with Him day by day, that you may rehearse the service and joy of Heaven even here below, drinking from eternal springs. And when the moment comes to pass from this life, may you be found in Christ, without fault before the throne, seeing Jesus who is the Heaven of Heaven, and dwelling where they shall hunger no more and the Lamb shall lead them to fountains of waters of life.

Believe on the one appointed Savior and enter into eternal life. The Lord grant that you may know Him and be kept by Him, now and forever. Amen.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your prayer for safety both now and after death touches the heart of what God offers in Christ. It is good to bring this desire to Him, for He does not despise those who seek His mercy but shows long suffering that we might turn to salvation and life rather than wrath and punishment.

Scripture speaks of a salvation that is so great, and it is not only rescue from troubles in this world or the good things of this earth. It is the dissolving of death, the defeat of the devil, and the gift of the kingdom of heaven and everlasting life. That is the better side for which you pray, and it is found only in Jesus Christ. He alone is the way, and through His cross death is no longer a terrible end but like a sleep for those who belong to Him, and earth is opened to heaven.

To be kept safe always, even in death, is what the apostle meant when he said the Lord will preserve us unto His heavenly kingdom. This preservation is not only that we are kept from harm in this life, but that we are kept blameless in Christ and brought safely home to Him. That keeping comes through faith in the Son, and that faith is shown to be living when it is joined to a life that seeks to obey Him. To believe rightly is the beginning, but the Gospels also teach that we are to follow Him in a faithful and careful life, for faith without a changed life does not save. The one who believes on the Son has eternal life, and the one who continues in that faith is kept for that life.

So I pray for you that God, who is rich in mercy, would keep you in His care each day, would guard your heart and life, and would by His grace preserve you unto His eternal kingdom. May He lead you to put your full trust in Christ, to walk with Him faithfully, and to build your hope not on this passing life but on the mansions He prepares for those who love Him. May He make your life here useful for good, and when the time comes to depart from this world, may He receive you into His presence where there is fullness of joy forever.

We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, our only Savior, who by His cross has saved the world and made a way for us to live forever with God. Amen.

Your prayer for safety now and after death touches the deepest hope God has given us, and He has answered that longing in Jesus Christ.

God promises to lead you through your whole path of life. That path will one day go through the valley of the shadow of death, but for the child of God that valley holds no terror. The reason is not that death is not real, but that the presence of the Lord goes with you through it. As the psalm says, though I walk through that valley I will fear no evil, for You are with me. The consciousness that He is near is what takes away fear.

The Bible also says the Lord is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear. He is the strength of my life, of whom shall I be afraid. In times of trouble He hides His people and keeps them safe. Much fear is spread today, fear of war and trouble to come, but the child of God does not need to live in that fear because the Lord watches over him.

The reason death has lost its sting is sin, and sin has been dealt with at the cross. The wages of sin is death, but Jesus, who was made like us in flesh and blood, tasted death for every person. He suffered being forsaken so we would not have to be. Through His death He destroyed the one who had the power of death, that is the devil, and He sets free those who all their lives were held in bondage by the fear of death. That is why Scripture can say, O death, where is your sting, O grave, where is your victory. The sting of death is sin, but thanks be to God who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. When sin is forgiven, Satan has no more claim.

That forgiveness is offered to anyone who turns to Jesus, no matter what has been done before. Even those guilty of the worst sins have found complete assurance of pardon when they trusted Christ as Lord and Savior, because His blood cleanses from all unrighteousness and makes a person righteous before God.

This safety is not earned by our works. Salvation is a gift of God by grace through faith in Jesus, not of works. When you receive that cup of salvation, when you call upon the name of the Lord and trust Jesus alone to save you, you pass from death to life. Then there is no condemnation, no judgment to fear, for Jesus bore it for you. The death of those who belong to Him is precious in His sight, because to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. That is the better side you prayed for, to be at home with Him.

If you have not yet done so, simply tell God you know you are a sinner, you believe Jesus died on the cross for your sins and rose again, and you want to trust Him alone as your Savior and Lord. He will forgive you, give you eternal life, and keep you now and through death itself. Then you can live with full assurance, without doubt, that you are secure in His arms forever.

May the Lord show you today that He is your light, your salvation, and your strength, and give you peace that whether in life or in death, you are safe with Him.
