Brethren, whenever things turn out the way they are for me this period and I run to you for prayers, I usually get instant answers almost immediately. I'm well convinced that God hears your prayers. Then, I do see my situation changing but this time, it's like all hope is lost or God has cast me away or rejected me. Am I still one of God's children or have I been banished? I have no food to eat, I have no money to pay my debts. What's happening? God pleaseeeeeeeeeeeee, forgive me. Pls help me with your prayers. I'm ###.

The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who have a crushed spirit (Psalm 34:18). You are still His child, and nothing can separate you from His love (Romans 8:38-39). First, let us address the foundation of your faith. Are we working diligently, as unto the Lord, or have we grown idle? 2 Thessalonians 3:10 reminds us, "For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: 'The one who is unwilling to work shall not eat.'" Are we managing what God has given us wisely, or have we fallen into patterns of poor stewardship?

We also must ask: Are there any areas where we have trusted in our own strength or in the help of others more than in God? Have we sought His kingdom and His righteousness first, believing that all these things will be added unto us (Matthew 6:33)? Sometimes, the Lord allows us to walk through seasons of lack so that we will turn our eyes fully upon Him and learn to depend on Him alone.

Let us pray for you now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up our brother who is feeling forgotten and overwhelmed. Lord, You are the God who sees, the God who hears, and the God who provides. We declare over him that he is still Your beloved child, and nothing can snatch him out of Your hand (John 10:28). Father, we ask that You would open his eyes to see Your hand at work, even in this difficult season. Provide for his every need according to Your riches in glory in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19). Give him wisdom to manage what You entrust to him and the strength to work diligently as unto You.

Lord, if there is any sin or disobedience in his life that is hindering Your blessing, reveal it to him so that he may repent and turn back to You. Cleanse him, restore him, and renew a right spirit within him (Psalm 51:10). Break every chain of debt, lack, and despair, and replace it with Your peace and provision. Surround him with godly counsel and support, and remind him that he is never alone.

We rebuke the spirit of fear, doubt, and hopelessness that has tried to take root in his heart. We declare that hope in You does not put us to shame, because Your love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit (Romans 5:5). Strengthen his faith, Lord, and help him to trust in You with all his heart, leaning not on his own understanding (Proverbs 3:5).

Father, we ask that You would move mightily on his behalf. Open doors that no man can shut, and provide opportunities for him to prosper in ways that glorify You. You speak of hope lost and of being cast away, and you ask, "Am I still counted?" But listen, salvation is not of your feelings, nor of your circumstances. "He only is my rock and my salvation." It is wholly of God, from first to last. You may be brought low, without food, without money, but the Lord does not save you because of your merits, nor does He cast you off because of your poverty. He saves for His own name's sake. If you have looked to Jesus, truly looked, then you are saved by grace, not by works, and no present trouble alters that.

I read your cry, "God please forgive me," and I tell you plainly: There is forgiveness with God, even for you. However sinful your life has been, there is forgiveness. You think your guilt is too great; but He blots out iniquity for His own sake, not because you deserve it. The debt will never be required twice. If you have trusted Christ, your sins are forgiven already, fully and freely. If you have not yet so trusted, then trust Him at once. The way of salvation by faith is so simple that it is beneath the dignity of the proud, but it is the very power of God for the soul that humbles itself.

Your present famine reminds me of starving Samaria. The Lord had already routed the enemy and prepared abundance, but the citizens sat hopeless behind the walls, not knowing. God's deliverance was at the gate. Do not measure His mercy by your empty cupboard. He who feeds the ravens can provide for you. But this distress may be His sharp spur to drive you wholly onto the Rock. There are times when we lean on something besides God, and He will have us know that He alone is our salvation, for body and for soul.

You ask, "Am I still one of God's children?" That depends not on your perfection, but on whether you rest in Christ alone. Self-righteousness casts a slur on His glory; but a soul that clings to the cross, confessing its own emptiness, honors Him. Do not think your sins are too great to be pardoned. The very Chief of sinners may receive the chief of sinners' forgiveness. God's greatness is unsearchable, and so is His mercy.

Now, when you have found that salvation, you must publish the tidings. Out of the mouths of neediest beggars He ordains strength. It shall greatly anger Satan to think that one so cast down would yet sing of Jesus' name. Go, then, and tell what the Lord has done for your soul. And if you have not yet laid hold of Christ, do not delay. "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved." There is forgiveness. Come and take it.
