We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up this precious soul who is entangled in the snares of this world. Father God, we know that Your heart breaks when Your children are led astray by earthly desires and the deceptions of the enemy. We stand in the gap for this young one, declaring Your promises over his life and rebuking the forces of darkness that seek to destroy him.
Lord, we ask that You would break the chains of addiction to alcohol and drugs, including the use of weed, which clouds the mind and dulls the spirit. Your Word tells us in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, "Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s." We pray that You would remove the desire for these substances and replace it with a hunger and thirst for righteousness. Fill him with Your Holy Spirit, that he may walk in purity and self-control, as it is written in Galatians 5:22-23, "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law."
We rebuke the spirit of pride and the need for attention, which often leads to sinful behaviors. Proverbs 16:18 warns us, "Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall." Father, humble his heart before You, that he may seek Your approval above all else. Remove the toxic relationships and people from his life who lead him away from You. Surround him with Godly, spiritual people who will speak life, truth, and encouragement into his soul. As it says in 1 Corinthians 15:33, "Don’t be deceived! Evil companionships corrupt good morals." Let him be drawn to those who will point him to Christ and help him grow in his faith.
Lord, we ask that You would calm his temper and bring peace to his heart, mind, and mouth. James 1:19-20 reminds us, "So, then, my beloved brothers, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger; for the anger of man doesn’t produce the righteousness of God." Fill him with Your peace that surpasses all understanding, guarding his heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). Give him patience in all things, that he may respond with wisdom and grace.
We pray that You would ignite a fire within him to seek You with his whole heart and to work diligently toward a future that honors You. Jeremiah 29:11 assures us, "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future." Bless him with discernment and maturity, that he may make wise choices and walk in the path You have set before him. Let him not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of his mind, so that he may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God (Romans 12:2).
Father, we know that none of this is possible without the power of Jesus Christ. We declare that it is only through the name of Jesus that we have access to You and that salvation is found. Acts 4:12 tells us, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!" We pray that this young man would come to know Jesus as his Lord and Savior, if he has not already. Let him experience the transforming power of the Gospel, that he may be born again and walk in newness of life (Romans 6:4). May he confess with his mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in his heart that God raised Him from the dead, so that he may be saved (Romans 10:9).
We bind every spirit of addiction, pride, anger, and deception in the mighty name of Jesus. We loose the fruits of the Spirit into his life, love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. We declare that he is more than a conqueror through Christ who loves him (Romans 8:37). Let him rise up as a warrior for Your kingdom, using his gifts and talents to glorify You.
Heavenly Father, we trust in Your unfailing love and mercy. We believe that You are able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us (Ephesians 3:20). We commit this young man into Your hands, knowing that You are faithful to complete the good work You have begun in him (Philippians 1:6). Strengthen him, guide him, and let Your light shine brightly in his life.
In the precious and powerful name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
