We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up your son and your situation to Him in the mighty name of Jesus. Addiction is a powerful stronghold, and it is clear that the enemy has taken hold of your son’s life in a way that is causing destruction—not only to himself but to you as well. We recognize the pain, fear, and exhaustion you must be feeling, and we stand with you in prayer, asking God to break every chain of bondage in your son’s life.

First, we must address the spiritual reality of this situation. Addiction to substances like marijuana and the obsessive behavior tied to video games are not merely bad habits—they are forms of idolatry, where something other than God has taken first place in his heart. The Bible warns us in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, *"Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s."* Your son’s choices are grieving the Holy Spirit, and his verbal abuse and threats are sinful behaviors that must be confronted with truth and love.

We also see the financial and emotional toll this is taking on you. Proverbs 22:7 tells us, *"The rich rule over the poor. The borrower is servant to the lender."* Your son is not only enslaved to his addictions but is also placing you in bondage by his irresponsibility. This is not God’s design for family relationships. While we are called to love and support our children, we are not called to enable sin or destructive behavior. Galatians 6:5 says, *"For each man will bear his own burden,"* and it is time for your son to take responsibility for his actions. You must seek wisdom from the Lord about setting boundaries—even difficult ones—so that he may face the consequences of his choices and, God willing, turn to Christ in repentance.

The verbal abuse and threats are unacceptable. Ephesians 4:29 says, *"Let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but such as is good for building up as the need may be, that it may give grace to those who hear."* Your son’s words are not only hurtful but are a reflection of the darkness that has taken root in his heart. We must rebuke this spirit of rebellion and violence in Jesus’ name. Proverbs 15:1 reminds us, *"A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger."* Even in this, we pray that God would soften his heart and bring conviction where there is hardness.

We also lift up your own heart, dear sister. You are carrying a burden that is not yours to bear alone. Psalm 55:22 says, *"Cast your burden on Yahweh, and he will sustain you. He will never allow the righteous to be moved."* You must release your son into God’s hands, trusting that the Lord loves him even more than you do. It is not your responsibility to fix him—only God can change his heart. But you can pray, set boundaries, and seek godly counsel for yourself.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus, the Name that is above every name, the only Name by which we can be saved. Lord, we lift up this mother and her son to You. We ask that You would break the chains of addiction in his life—every stronghold of marijuana, every obsession with video games, every spirit of laziness and irresponsibility. Father, we rebuke the enemy’s lies that have taken root in his heart, and we declare that he is not a slave to these things but a child of the Most High God. Bring conviction to his heart, Lord. Let him see the destruction his choices are causing, not just to himself but to his mother and to his relationship with You.

Father, we ask for Your protection over this mother. Shield her from the verbal abuse and threats of her son. Give her the strength and wisdom to set boundaries that will not enable his sin but will instead lead him to repentance. Provide for her financially, Lord, and give her peace in the midst of this storm. Remind her that she is not alone—You are her refuge and strength.

Lord, we pray for a spirit of humility and repentance to fall upon this young man. Soften his heart to receive Your love and correction. Surround him with godly men who can speak truth into his life and hold him accountable. Open his eyes to the opportunities You have for him—opportunities to work, to provide, and to live a life that honors You.

Father, we declare that no weapon formed against this family shall prosper. We break every curse of addiction, poverty, and strife in Jesus’ name. We pray for restoration—restoration of this young man’s relationship with You, restoration of his purpose, and restoration of peace in this home. May Your will be done in both of their lives, and may Your name be glorified through this trial.

We ask all of this in the powerful, mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

We encourage you to seek support from your local church or a biblical counselor who can help you navigate this situation with wisdom. You cannot carry this burden alone, and God has placed people in your life to help. Continue to stand on God’s promises, and remember that even in the darkest moments, He is working for your good and His glory. Do not lose hope—salvation and deliverance belong to the Lord.

Dear sister, we're here with you in spirit, lifting you and your son up to the Lord in prayer. We know the weight you're carrying, and we want you to know you're not alone. In times like these, it's easy to feel overwhelmed and helpless, but remember, God is always with you, and He cares deeply about both you and your son.

We're praying for your son, that God would break the chains of addiction that hold him. We ask that God would open his eyes to the destruction his choices are causing, not just to himself, but to you and his relationship with God. We pray for a spirit of humility and repentance to fall upon him, and for God to surround him with godly men who can speak truth into his life and hold him accountable.

We're also praying for you, dear sister. We ask that God would give you strength and wisdom to set boundaries that will lead your son to repentance, not enabling his sin. We pray for God's protection over you, shielding you from the verbal abuse and threats. We ask that God would provide for you financially and give you peace in the midst of this storm, reminding you that you are not alone.

We claim the promise in Psalm 55:22, "Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you. He will never allow the righteous to be moved." Trust in God, knowing that He loves your son even more than you do, and only He can change his heart. You can pray, set boundaries, and seek godly counsel for yourself.

Let's keep praying together, trusting in God's unfailing love and His power to save and restore. Remember, even in the darkest moments, He is working for your good and His glory. Don't lose hope, for salvation and deliverance belong to the Lord.

We want to thank you for trusting us with the heavy burden you’re carrying and for allowing us to stand with you in prayer for your son. This battle with addiction and the strain it’s placing on your home and heart is not one you have to face alone—we continue to lift him before the Lord, asking for His healing touch to break every chain of bondage, for wisdom to guide his steps, and for peace to guard his mind. We also pray earnestly for you, that God would grant you strength beyond your own, protection from harm, and the courage to set boundaries that honor Him while still showing love.

If you’ve seen even the smallest glimmer of change—perhaps a moment of clarity, a softer word, or a step toward help—we would be so encouraged to hear it. Your praise report could be a light to others walking a similar path. If, however, the struggle feels just as heavy or the situation has grown more difficult, please don’t hesitate to post this request again. We are here to keep praying, keep believing, and keep standing in faith with you until God’s answer comes.

May the Lord surround you with His presence, provide for every need, and remind you that His grace is sufficient for today and every day to come. We pray all these things in the powerful name of Jesus.
