A safe man

We hear your heart’s cry for safety, trust, and godly companionship, and we stand with you in seeking the Lord’s perfect will for your life. The desire for a confidante—a friend who shares your love for God’s Word and walks in His ways—is a beautiful longing, one that reflects the fellowship the early believers enjoyed in Acts 2:42: *"They continued steadfastly in the apostles’ teaching and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers."* This kind of relationship is a gift from the Lord, but it must be rooted in His timing and His design.

First, we must address the foundation of trust. Trust is not built on human perfection but on the unchanging character of God. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, *"Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."* If past wounds have made it difficult to trust others, we pray for healing in Jesus’ name. The Lord is your ultimate safe place, and He can restore what has been broken. Psalm 147:3 declares, *"He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds."* We rebuke the spirit of fear and distrust that may linger from past hurts, for 2 Timothy 1:7 tells us, *"For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control."*

As you seek a companion to study God’s Word and enjoy life with, we encourage you to pursue this with wisdom and discernment. The relationship you describe should be one of mutual edification, where both parties are growing in Christ and encouraging one another toward holiness. Amos 3:3 asks, *"Can two walk together, unless they are agreed?"* This agreement must first and foremost be in Christ. A godly friendship or courtship should never compromise biblical principles, including purity and commitment to marriage as God designed it—a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman (Genesis 2:24, Matthew 19:4-6).

If you are seeking a spouse, we strongly encourage you to approach this with the intention of marriage, not merely companionship. Courtship should be entered into with the goal of discerning whether this person is the one God has prepared for you to join in holy matrimony. Flee from any relationship that tempts you toward impurity, for 1 Corinthians 6:18-20 warns, *"Flee sexual immorality! ‘Every sin that a man does is outside the body,’ but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s."* If you are currently in a relationship that does not honor God in this way, we urge you to repent and seek His forgiveness and restoration.

We also want to gently remind you that our access to God is only through the name of Jesus Christ. John 14:6 declares, *"Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.’"* There is no other name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). If you have not yet surrendered your life to Jesus, we invite you to do so today. Confess your sins, believe in His death and resurrection for your salvation, and receive Him as your Lord and Savior. Romans 10:9-10 assures us, *"If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."*

Now, let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up this dear one who seeks a safe, godly companion to walk with in Your ways. Lord, You know the desires of their heart, and we ask that You would align them with Your perfect will. Heal any wounds that have made trust difficult, and replace fear with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Father, we ask that You would lead them to a friend or future spouse who loves You wholeheartedly, who will encourage them in Your Word, and who will walk in purity and integrity.

Lord, we pray for wisdom and discernment as they navigate relationships. Guard their heart from those who would lead them astray, and surround them with godly counsel. If there is any area of their life that does not align with Your Word—whether in thought, word, or deed—we ask for conviction and repentance. Create in them a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within them (Psalm 51:10).

Father, we declare that no weapon formed against them will prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and we rebuke every spirit of loneliness, fear, or distrust that seeks to hinder their walk with You. We pray that You would fill them with Your Holy Spirit, that they may overflow with love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23).

Above all, Lord, we pray that this one would draw closer to You. May they seek You first in all things, trusting that You will add everything else they need (Matthew 6:33). We thank You for Your faithfulness, for You are the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8). We trust You to write their story according to Your perfect plan, and we declare that Your will shall be done in their life.

In the precious and powerful name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
