Safe and successful recovery

Anonymous

Beloved of All
My friend is having stomach issues and having surgery, please help her through this and have a speedy recovery. ### trust in the Lord to keep you safe.

We lift up your friend in prayer, asking for the Lord’s healing hand to be upon her as she faces this surgery. The Bible tells us in Psalm 103:2-3, "Bless the Lord, O my soul, and don’t forget all his benefits; who forgives all your sins, who heals all your diseases." We stand on this promise, believing that God is her ultimate healer, and we ask for His peace and strength to surround her in this time.

Father, we pray for the surgeons and medical team attending to her, that You would guide their hands and minds with wisdom and precision. Grant them clarity and skill as they work to restore her health. We also ask for Your comfort to fill her heart, easing any fear or anxiety she may feel. Remind her that You are her refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1).

Lord, we declare a swift and complete recovery over her body. May she experience Your restoring power, regaining strength day by day. Surround her with loved ones who will encourage and support her, and may she feel Your presence in every moment of this journey.

We also take a moment to address the importance of trusting in the Lord fully, not just in times of trial, but in all things. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." This trust is not passive; it is an active surrender to His will, knowing that He works all things for the good of those who love Him (Romans 8:28).

If your friend does not yet know Jesus as her Lord and Savior, we pray that this time of vulnerability would draw her heart to Him. Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). We invite the Holy Spirit to move in her life, revealing the love and grace of Christ, that she may place her faith in Him and experience the fullness of His peace.

In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.

We’re grateful you reached out, it’s a privilege to stand with you and your friend right now. Stomach issues can be exhausting on their own, and facing surgery only adds to the weight you both feel. Thank you for letting us be part of this.

When someone we love is rolled into an operating room, the worry settles heavy in our own chest. But we’ve watched people rest in the Lord’s care not by pushing fear away, but by bringing it honestly to Him and trusting His goodness even when the monitors are uncertain. Your friend’s quiet anchor, trust in the Lord to keep you safe, tells us her heart is already leaning that direction. You can help her hold onto it simply by being present.

One of the most grounding things you can offer right now is your steady, unhurried company. Sit with her before surgery if that’s possible, and don’t feel you have to fill every silence. Hold her hand. Afterward, show up with a gentle presence, bring a meal for her household, offer to run an errand, these small, ordinary acts wrap someone in love and remind them they aren’t recovering alone. Your friendship in the coming days will be a sustaining gift.

We’ll keep praying with you.

Lord Jesus, we lift up this dear friend as she prepares for surgery. Calm her mind, ease her body, and guide every medical hand so that the procedure goes well and recovery is swift and steady. Surround her with Your peace, and give her friend the right words and the strength to be a quiet comfort. In Your name we ask, amen.

The prayer that is raised for this dear friend is a sweet savor, for it is a prayer of trust, trust in the Lord to keep her safe. This is well, for we are not to trust in the surgeon's knife, nor in the medicine, nor even in our own feelings of hope, but in Him who holds all power in His hand. If you say, "I will trust when I see the recovery," that is no trust at all; that is sight. Trust begins where certainty of the flesh ends. They that trust in Him shall not be ashamed, even if they are made to walk before the healing comes. The healing power of Christ is not a reward for feeling strong, but a gift for those who rest on His bare word. He is able to save all who trust Him; He could be trusted with a million souls, and shall He not carry your friend through this trial?

There is abundant healing power in Jesus Christ, even in the least things about Him, the very leaves of that Tree of Life are for the healing of the nations. The surgeon's work is but a leaf; the quiet care of nurses, another leaf; the prayers of the saints, yet more leaves from that same Tree. But the lifeblood of it all is Christ Himself, the great Conduit Head from which all healing streams flow. Often, bodily sickness is the door through which the Great Physician enters to deal with the soul. Healing and forgiveness are placed in happy conjunction. When He healed the palsied man, He spoke pardon first, for the root of all misery is sin, and the first and greatest healing is the washing away of iniquity. This is the gospel's healing power: power to forgive sin.

Do not marvel if recovery should be slow, or if the flesh must pass through deep waters. The promise is, "I will strengthen them in the Lord." Strength is often perfected in weakness. Wonder not, then, if the friend now laid low must learn to trust as she sinks, that she may swim. Trust Him though you feel death's shadow; trust Him who was pierced, whose heart was smitten for us. He will not let you go. Healing must come before serving, and often Christ comes to the sickbed, takes the sufferer by the hand, and lifts her up. There is a contact, a union, established in that hour of pain which no ease could ever give. The Sun of Righteousness arises with healing in His wings, and the faces of those made fresh by His mercy shall bear the mark of His work for eternity.

You need an infinite Friend to keep you in safety, and such a Friend is found in God our Savior. He is able to keep you from falling and to present you faultless with exceeding joy. Now unto Him who is able to do this be all trust committed. Let the cry go up, "Jesus! Master! Save me, heal me with a word," and He will hear. The desire to minister arises out of healing, and after this trial, this dear one shall rise to wait upon the Lord with new gratitude, walking up and down in His name as happy as the birds of summer. God bless you and her. Amen.

Consider the stomach ailment of your friend, and recall the words spoken of blessed Timothy. Even he, a man of such fasting and self-denial, was troubled by frequent infirmities and stomach weakness. The Apostle did not simply command a miracle; he prescribed a little wine for health’s sake. Do not be offended that a faithful soul should suffer, for God allows even the righteous to endure bodily ills, lest they grow proud or think themselves above common humanity. The same flesh that raised the dead was yet subject to the remedies of this world. So let your friend accept the surgeon’s hand as a provision from the Lord, neither despising earthly helps nor placing final trust in them. Use what wisdom God has given to medicine, but fix your hope higher by far.

Approach the throne of grace with the leper’s faith, who did not demand or prescribe, but knelt and said, “Lord, if Thou wilt, Thou canst make me clean.” He left the will entirely with Christ, believing all power was His. In the same manner, pray for your friend, and then leave the outcome in those wounded hands. Whether recovery comes swiftly or slowly, our true confidence rests in Him who raises the dead. The body is for the Lord, and He who lifted Christ from the grave will raise us also. So let the belly’s trouble not become a god to us through anxiety, for its desires and its infirmities alike will be brought to nothing in the end.

When health returns, see that the mouth is filled not only with nourishment but with thanksgiving. Many cry out in pain and forget God in ease. Be the one who gives glory to God continually, remembering that every good gift descends from above. Your labor of intercession is not wasted; it abounds in the Lord. I trust in the Lord for both you and your friend, that this trial will teach you to store all your treasure in Heaven, where no sickness can corrupt. Go in peace, and trust not in the hands of men only, but in Him who holds all things.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

I want you to know that your friend has been on my heart, and I am praying for her as she faces this surgery. When we hear about an operation on the stomach, it touches something deep because the Scriptures often speak of that region as the seat of our strongest emotions, the place where we feel compassion, joy, and even sorrow at a physical level. So this isn’t just a body being mended; it’s an intimate part of her life being held before the Lord.

The comfort we have is that all genuine healing traces back to the hand of God. He designed the processes of restoration that are already at work within the body, and when surgeons act with skill, they are using gifts He gave. Yet ultimate safety doesn’t ride on the procedure alone, it rests in the Lord who keeps the city when the watchman stays awake in vain. We prepare, we use medicine, and we pray, but our trust must anchor itself in Him, not in the chariots of our own making.

Healing doesn’t always follow the path we expect. Sometimes it’s sudden, and a person feels the change in a moment; sometimes it’s gradual, like the slow mending of a raw stomach lining, and no less divine for taking time. I can’t promise you why some are healed swiftly and others carry their condition longer, but I do know this: the absence of an instant miracle is not proof of a lack of faith or a mark of hidden sin. The apostle Paul didn’t rebuke Timothy for his stomach troubles; he simply offered practical care and pointed him toward what would help. So we refuse to lay guilt on her, and we refuse to panic. Instead, we place her in the hands of the One who bore our infirmities.

Trust really shows its face when the outcome isn’t yet clear. It’s easy to say “Lord, I trust You” when everything makes sense. But when surgery is ahead and the future feels uncertain, we learn what it means to say, “Lord, I don’t understand, but You are at work. Keep doing Your work, and in the midst of it all, remember mercy.” That’s not a weak faith; it’s the faith of those who know they are children of Abraham, counted righteous by believing God’s promise even when circumstances shake.

So I will keep asking for her safe recovery, for clear direction for the medical team, for the calming of every fear deep in the stomach where anxiety knots up, and for a steady healing process that glorifies the Lord. May she sense His nearness in a tangible way, perhaps even experiencing that quiet touch where she knows He is carrying her through. And may you, as her friend, find your own heart steadied as you entrust her to the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy, including the gift of restored health in His time.
