A prayer for ###

Chaonor

Disciple of Prayer
### has been in the hospital for 6 days, and she needs support right now and prayer to get through a very difficult time. Please pray that she finds the strength to keep fighting and choose happiness over fear.

We lift up ### before the throne of grace with heavy yet hopeful hearts, knowing that the Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who have a contrite spirit. ### days in the hospital can weigh heavily on body, mind, and soul, and we stand with her in the gap, interceding in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.

Heavenly Father, we come before You as Your children, fully dependent on Your mercy and strength. We ask that You would wrap Your loving arms around ###, filling her with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. When fear threatens to overwhelm, remind her that You have not given her a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). Strengthen her resolve to fight, not in her own might, but in the power of Your Holy Spirit. Sustain her body, renew her spirit, and restore her hope with the assurance that You are working all things together for her good (Romans 8:28).

Lord, we also pray for wisdom and compassion for the medical team attending to her. Guide their hands, sharpen their minds, and grant them discernment as they care for her. May they see her not just as a patient, but as a beloved child of God, fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14).

We rebuke the spirit of despair that seeks to steal her joy and replace it with anxiety. Jesus came that she might have life, and have it abundantly (John 10:10). Help her to choose joy, not as a fleeting emotion, but as a deep-rooted trust in Your faithfulness. Remind her that even in the valley of the shadow of death, You are with her, Your rod and Your staff, they comfort her (Psalm 23:4).

Father, if ### has not yet placed her trust in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, we pray that this trial would draw her to You. There is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). Open her heart to receive the gift of salvation, that she may know the hope of eternal life and the peace that comes from being reconciled to You.

We declare over ### that she is more than a conqueror through Him who loved her (Romans 8:37). We speak healing over her body, restoration to her soul, and a fresh infilling of Your Holy Spirit. May she leave that hospital bed stronger in faith, deeper in trust, and more in love with You than ever before.

In the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.

Thank you for trusting us to pray for with you. Six days in the hospital is a long, draining stretch, and we are holding you both up right now.

When someone we love is fighting through illness, “choosing happiness over fear” can feel like an impossible assignment. It’s okay if she can’t always find a cheerful thought or push the fear away; simply being held by God, and by people like you who show up, matters deeply. It’s completely normal to feel fragile after days of tests, unfamiliar sounds, and broken routines. God doesn’t scold us for that. He drew near to Elijah when he collapsed in exhaustion and wanted to give up, not with a lecture but with rest, food, and quiet presence. That same gentle care reaches now, often through your hands and voice.

When you sit with her, you don’t need perfect words. Bring a small piece of home, a soft blanket, her favorite music, a few photos. If she’s up for it, help her name one tiny, good thing in the moment: a nurse’s kindness, a sip of cold water, a remembered story that made her laugh. These little anchors can tether her to hope without demanding she pretend everything is fine.

Let others carry some of the load too. Ask a few trusted friends to send cards or recorded voice messages. Just knowing a circle is praying can feel like a warm blanket around her shoulders.

Lord Jesus, we lift to You now. She is tired and frightened, and the hospital walls can make everything feel small and scary. Wrap her in Your steady peace, not the kind that magically erases hardship, but the kind that holds her fast. Give her moments of lightness, little reminders of Your goodness. Strengthen her body and mind, and give her caregivers wisdom and compassion. Refresh the one who wrote this request, too; grant endurance and hope that does not flicker out. In Your name, Amen.

You are not alone. We are praying with you.

When the soul is bowed down by affliction and the flesh trembles at the prospect of a prolonged trial, the heart seeks a foundation upon which to rest. That foundation is not found in the stubborn resolve to choose happiness as one might pick fruit from a tree, but in the joy which is of divine origin. The joy of mere mirth is a shallow stream that dries in the summer heat, but the joy of the Lord is an ever-flowing river, and that joy is your strength. To wait upon Him in this valley is to find the fainting spirit girded with new might, for He gives power to the faint, and to those who have no might He increases strength.

Consider that the very power which, to the natural eye, seems like an overwhelming flood to plead against you, is turned into your refuge and hope by the promise of the faithful God. The afflicted one cries out, "Will He plead against me with His great power?" And faith answers, "No; but He will put strength in me." The same omnipotence that made you tremble shall be infused into your inner man, so that you are made mighty to endure. Fear not, you worm; this divine infusion is neither a vague sentiment nor a reward for perfect courage, but the certain work of Him who declares, "I will strengthen them."

Let there be an end to the torment of fear, for fear is weakening, and it dishonors the God who has pledged Himself to help. The command, "Fear not," is absolute and unqualified; it is not a suggestion to fear less, but an imperative to cast out fear entirely, for it steals the glory from the Lord and robs the heart of its song. When you know the wormwood and the gall, then the joy of the Lord is as heaven below. Let the weary heart therefore wait upon Jehovah, drawing from Him the strength that is beautifully balanced and wisely infused for this very hour. In prayer and in duty, you shall find that He has not called you to a miserable struggle in your own frail might, but to a glorious overcoming in His.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
