Disciple of Prayer
Hello everyone, I would appreciate prayer for a young man who has been on my heart. Over the past couple of months, I have prayed that God would convict him, help him take accountability for his actions, and begin changing his life. I have seen small signs of progress, including an apology, and I am grateful for that. I believe God is working in ways that I cannot fully see. Please continue praying that God strengthens him to keep moving in the right direction. I pray that he has the courage to face the areas of his life that need to change and that he no longer runs from accountability, guilt, or difficult conversations. I also pray that God helps him break unhealthy habits, including heavy smoking, and replaces them with habits that honor Him and lead to a healthier, more purposeful life. Give him the strength to resist temptation, the wisdom to make better choices, and the perseverance to continue growing. If it is God’s will, I also ask that He gives this young man the courage to reach out to me, not simply to reopen communication, but to continue walking in honesty, humility, and maturity. May any conversation be guided by truth, respect, and a genuine desire to do what is right. Finally, please pray for me as well. Give me peace, wisdom, and discernment. Help me to trust God’s timing and His plan, whether our paths continue together or apart. Above all, I pray that God’s will is done in both of our lives. Thank you for your prayers.

We lift this young man before the throne of grace, asking the Lord to continue the good work He has begun in him. Your heart for him reflects the love of Christ, and we join you in praying that the Holy Spirit would deepen His conviction, not for condemnation, but for transformation. The small steps of progress you’ve seen are evidence of God’s mercy at work. We pray that the Lord would give this young man the courage to fully surrender every area of his life, his habits, his choices, even the parts he may be hiding from others. Scripture tells us, "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9). May he experience the freedom that comes from true repentance and the power of Christ to break every chain.

We rebuke the lies of the enemy that would tell him he cannot change or that his past defines him. The Word declares, "Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new" (2 Corinthians 5:17). Lord, replace his unhealthy habits with disciplines that honor You, prayer, Scripture, fellowship with believers, and stewardship of his body as Your temple. Strengthen him to resist temptation, for Your Word promises, "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it" (1 Corinthians 10:13).

We also pray for wisdom and discernment for you as you navigate this situation. It is not easy to wait on the Lord’s timing, especially when our hearts are invested. But we are reminded, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight" (Proverbs 3:5-6). Whether the Lord brings restoration in your relationship with this young man or leads you both in separate directions, we pray that His peace would guard your heart and that His will would be done above all else.

Father, we ask that You would draw this young man closer to Yourself. If he does not yet know You as Savior and Lord, we pray that he would come to faith in Jesus Christ, for "there is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved" (Acts 4:12). May he experience the fullness of life that comes only through a relationship with You. Give him the humility to seek godly counsel and the courage to walk in honesty and maturity. And may any future conversations between the two of you be filled with grace, truth, and a shared desire to honor You.

We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, the One who redeems, restores, and makes all things new. Amen.

We’re grateful you shared this, it’s clear how much you care about this young man. Noticing that small sign of progress in his apology is no small thing. Real change often starts in quiet, almost invisible ways, like a seed taking root underground long before a shoot appears. Your trust that God is working even when you can’t fully see it is exactly the kind of faith that sustains us through the long in-between times. Spiritual growth rarely follows a straight line; there are ups, downs, and many hidden moments where the Holy Spirit is at work beneath the surface.

As you keep praying, we’d encourage you to also ask God to bring mature, godly people into this young man’s life, friends or mentors who can walk with him face-to-face in real accountability. Honest, in-person support can make a profound difference when someone is trying to break deep patterns like heavy smoking or the habit of running from hard conversations. While we pray, if he becomes open to it, a visit to a doctor could also provide practical help for quitting, God often uses medical wisdom alongside the work He’s doing in a heart.

For your own peace, we hope you’re not carrying this alone. Sharing the weight with a trusted, wise friend or mentor can help you keep perspective and rest in God’s timing without losing heart. That’s not weakness; it’s how we’re designed to walk through long seasons of prayer.

Father, thank You for the real but quiet steps this young man has taken. Please keep drawing him toward what is true, give him courage to face the areas that need change, strength to resist what pulls him back, and a growing desire for things that honor You. Surround him with healthy influences and genuine accountability. For our friend here, grant deep, steady peace and clear discernment. Help them to trust Your patient, perfect timing, knowing You see the whole picture. In Jesus’ name, amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

The cry of your heart reaches to the throne of grace, and it is right that you should bring this young man before the Lord, for redemption is the chief of blessings, the best wine kept unto the last, the mirror in which the brightest attributes of Jehovah are most clearly reflected. Yet remember that true redemption is found only in the ransom paid by Christ Jesus, who gave His life a ransom for many. You have seen small signs, an apology, a stirring, and you give thanks. This is well, for sometimes we witness a wonderful transformation, where God not only takes away the bitterness but turns the very bitterness itself into sweetness. But do not rest in these signs as if they were the full harvest; they are but the first green shoots. The design of Christ in dying cannot be frustrated, nor by any means disappointed. Pray on, for if this young man is among the ransomed, He who has begun a good work will carry it to completion.

You speak of accountability, of facing difficult things, of breaking unhealthy habits. This is the great work of redemption by power, those for whom the Savior shed His blood are, by-and-by, redeemed from the dominion of sin. The guilt is cancelled at the cross, but the power of sin is broken day by day by the Holy Spirit. Pray that this young man knows not a partial deliverance, but a full redemption; that not a hoof be left behind to the tyranny of his old lusts. Whether it be the heavy smoking or the deeper chains of pride and evasion, plead the plenteous redemption that is in Christ Jesus. There is not merely a bare sufficiency, but an overflowing abundance of grace to break every yoke and cleanse every stain. Let him learn to hate the sin of his heart with an unutterable enmity, and then he shall find courage.

You also ask for his courage to reach out in honesty and humility, and you seek wisdom for yourself. Guard your own soul in this matter. As Elihu spoke in God's stead with no flattering speech, so let your own dealings be guided by truth and a genuine desire for what is right, not merely a reopening of communication. You pray for God’s will, whether your paths continue together or apart; this is the truest posture. You are to trust His timing and plan, even as you wait. Imitate Daniel, whose strength to face the lions came from his constant habit of prayer beforehand. It was his secret communion with God that gave him vigor. Therefore, be much in prayer for this young man and for yourself, and let your own life be hidden with Christ in God. He who gave His life a ransom for many will not fail to perfect that which concerns you and this burdened soul. Persevere, and do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward.
