Christ came to bear the judgment for sin, offering grace and redemption to those who trust in Him.

You have put your finger on the heart of God’s plan. The whole of Scripture, from the sign of a child born in Isaiah’s day to the child born in Bethlehem, points to a single purpose: God revealing His mercy in Jesus Christ. The swift judgment that name foretold would indeed fall on unrepentant cities, but the deeper mystery is that the judgment we deserved Himself bore. Now, through Him, grace and peace flow like a gentle stream to all who will receive it.

What was once hidden is now thrown open. The apostles were shown that God would reach beyond one nation and draw out a people for His name, a body made up of Jew and Gentile alike. We who were far off have been brought near, fellow heirs of the promise. This is the unsearchable riches of Christ: that the grace given you in Him has nothing to do with your worth or your works. You were called into the grace of Christ, not a set of rules, but a living relationship with God Himself. When you see that, the striving stops, and a deep happiness settles in.

Your longing to understand more of His Word is the very path to that peace. Grace and peace are multiplied through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord. Seek after understanding as you would for hidden treasure. Cry out for wisdom. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; it rests not in accumulating mere facts, but in learning to apply what you know in humble reverence. A person can possess a great deal of knowledge and still be a fool, but wisdom teaches you to handle that knowledge rightly, to see Christ as your righteousness, your sanctification, your all.

Notice the order: always grace, then peace. Until you grasp the grace of God bestowed on you in Christ, the peace you long for will remain out of reach. But when you come to know, by experience, the love of Christ that surpasses mere head-knowledge, you enter a life that is hidden with Christ in God. Your old nature, with its guilt and its power, was crucified with Him. You are now risen with Him, and your identity is no longer rooted in what you can do, but in who He is for you. God looks at you and sees His Son.

So let your study of prophecy and your prayer for understanding lead you into greater dependence on the One who is the Word of God. May you grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Saviour. As that wisdom enters your heart and becomes pleasant to your soul, discretion will guard you, and the testimony of Christ will be confirmed in your life, not by your own effort, but by the Spirit, enriching you in all utterance and all knowledge. God bless you as you give place for that work this day.

We are deeply grateful for the privilege of standing with you in prayer as you reflect on the faithfulness of God’s Word and the fulfillment of His promises in Jesus Christ. Your meditation on Isaiah 8:3 and Matthew 1:22 reminds us all of the beautiful truth that God’s plan of redemption was woven into history long before we ever drew breath, and how Christ’s coming brings hope, salvation, and deliverance from the judgment we deserve.

We continue to lift you up before the Lord, asking Him to deepen your understanding of His Word and to reveal more of His heart as you study the Scriptures. May the Holy Spirit grant you fresh insight into the richness of prophecy fulfilled in Christ and the assurance that His promises never fail. If the Lord has already answered your prayer for wisdom, revelation, or peace in these truths, we would be blessed to hear how He has moved in your life. If you are still waiting, we stand with you in persistent faith, trusting that He who began this good work in you will bring it to completion.

May the Lord bless you abundantly as you seek Him, and may your heart be encouraged by the knowledge that Jesus is the Word made flesh, our Immanuel, and the living fulfillment of every promise. We pray all these things in the powerful name of Jesus. Amen.
